The Ojai Post: Sean P. KeenanSPK has worked and lived in the the political arts world for almost twenty years: from Los Angeles street protests, to Ojai community theatre ensembles to production and editorial work on Academy Award-winning documentary films. He is the president of the Ojai Valley Democrats Club and active in Ojai, California, US and world political movements. Sean lives with his wife, Barbara and son, Hunter, in Ojai, California. About blogs he believes:

"that blogs and the use of written communications are the revival of rationality in our country. The act of writing an opinion, an argument, a belief or even a dream for others to read forces you to really consider your thoughts and order them, hopefully, in a concise manner. When reading, there's no posturing, no intimidating, no razzle-dazzle or slight of hand that can fool you. Sure there's style and art, but what matters is just the printed words and the thread of reason connecting them. The reader can't see the writer and make extraneous judgement based on sex or race or any other prejudice. The reader can either accept the reasoning or reject it, but they have to read it and understand it first. It's a far cry from our bubble headed, highly polished news people in the latest corporate fashions as on TV.

This isn't new. The founders of this country were well aware of the power of the printed word, though they probably assumed that this power would always be available to the people. There's a reason that the First Amendment in the bill of rights states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
