Michael Lenehan
Ojai City Council Candidate - 2008

Candidate Statement

Name: Michael Lenehan
Age: 47
Occupation: Coach, Investigator, Army Reserve Officer

I’d like to keep Ojai the sort of place that attracted us here in the first place, encouraging an environment within which the average person wants to live, and not just one that the well-off want to visit. “Small town character, natural beauty, open space, support for the Arts and local business, a healthy community, etc” are everyone’s general goals. I support them all, in addition to the following:

OBJECTIVES

  1. Safe schools and neighborhoods
  2. Increased emphasis on proactive gang enforcement
  3. Advocate for youth activities and facilities, including the skate park and new softball fields
  4. Support to the elderly and disabled

EXPERIENCE

  1. Commissioner Ojai City Parks and Recreation
  2. Over 15 years coaching youth athletics
  3. Founding member, Santa Barbara Irish Festival
  4. Volunteer, Ojai Music Festival and Locally Grown Food for Thought Concert
  5. 22 years combined federal investigative service
  6. 26 years collective military service
  7. Iraq War Veteran

PERSONAL

  1. Married with five children ages 7 to 20
  2. BA, Law and Society, UCSB
  3. Graduate, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College
