Joe Devito Recall Withdrawn - Tyler Suchman - May 21, 2007 - Residents who wanted to recall the six-term councilman have suspended their efforts. "We feel that with the council's vote on the formula-business moratorium, Mr. De Vito has finally begun to represent his constituents on this important issue," recall petitioner Sean Keenan said in a statement released this morning.

The Recall of Joe DeVito - Tyler Suchman - May 1, 2007 - Last Tuesday, April 24, Ojai city councilman Joe DeVito was notified that a recall petition had been submitted by Ojai citizen Sean Keenan.




the Ojai ballot initiatives - read more on our Ballot Initiative page, where in 2006 a citizen submitted two initiatives, one dealing with chain stores, the other affordable housing. The citizen was sued by the city in a motion for declaratory relief, which many proponents of the initiatives called a SLAPP suit. The suit and counter suit are still in legislation, with the ACLU joining the citizen against the City of Ojai.
