I have been living in Ojai since 1977, when I became the Director of Studies at Happy Valley School in the Upper Valley. In 1980 I was invited to be the Director of that school, and served in that capacity until 2004. I am the proud father and step-dad to five children, two of whom are teachers, and my wife, Meredy, is also a teacher and school administrator. I have spent many years as a classroom teacher (particularly in Ethics and Comparative Religions) and as a counselor to students and families. A passion for learning and for how to best teach has animated my adult life and led me to graduate work at Harvard Graduate School of Education, and an MAE in Educational Leadership from Antioch. My upbringing, my experience as Head of School, as well as my years in Ojai have given me a deep appreciation for the culture of community and I join this site in that spirit and interest.
I am an avid fly fisherman, an active reader, a skier, a reasonable cook and a “budding” gardener.
