Profile

Robin Walter is currently a high school senior at the Thacher School. She has attended the Thacher School since her sophomore year, after transferring from a boarding school in Ohio. Robin's hometown is Colorado Springs, Colorado. Since her sophomore year at Thacher year, she has become more involved in the increasingly egregious challenges that face both the national and international community. She is currently the co-head, along with Maddi Sowash, a fellow senior at Thacher, of the Amnesty International Organization at Thacher. At the beginning of this year, she founded a Thacher chapter of an organization called STAND, which is a student-led anti-genocide coalition. About 50 students make up the body of these two organizations, with around four faculty advisors.

Robin is involved in various activities outside of the Thacher community. Among others, she is involved in the Smart Start program in Ojai; she goes there every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, to help the kids with their homework. She enjoys cross-country, lacrosse, skiing, camping, traveling, and Christmas. Robin is writing for the Ojai Post to give Thacher a voice in the Ojai Community. She wants to raise further awareness about issues that Thacher students are focusing on and are both passionate and zealous about. As words wrap round and round the student body, the level of action and involvement increases; she hopes she can extend the circulation of such words and elicit a similar response. Is she idealistic in this endeavor? Perhaps. Realistic? Absolutely.
