Kenley Neufeld is the Library Director at Santa Barbara City College. He lives in Ojai with his partner, Leslie Davis, and their two children. Kenley was born in Jos,Nigeria while his parents were there teaching for Mennonite Central Committee. Though he considers Fresno his hometown (he moved there when he was 7), he has lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan;Akron, PA; Lusaka, Zambia; Spokane, WA; Santa Cruz; Fallbrook; La Jolla; San Francisco; and two summers in Bethel, Alaska. He moved to Ojai in 2005 after visiting family in Ojai since 1990. Kenley enjoys spending time with his family, motorcycle riding, traveling, reading, meditating, volunteering his technology skills, and listening to music. For 10 years he worked part-time for Bill Graham Presents, a concert promoter in the Bay Area, and saw hundreds of bands in concert. He considers himself a practicing Buddhist and a potential Christian. In 2005 Kenley was ordained into the Order of Interbeing, a Buddhist organization formed by Thich Nhat Hanh, as a lay member. Kenley is a lifelong pacifist, has been a vegetarian since 1989, and enjoys politics. Kenley Neufeld received his Masters of Library Science from San Jose State University and his Bachelor of Arts in History from University of California, San Diego. Kenley also blogs at misc.joy and Luria Library.

Widders No Longer City Attorney

In a closed session this evening, the Ojai City Council appointed Steven Lee as the Acting City Attorney. A formal press release will be provided on Wednesday, but the result is clear: Monte Widders is no longer the City Attorney for Ojai.

Interim City Manager Approves Best Western in Ojai

The Hummingbird Inn on East Ojai Ave. has applied and received a sign permit to become a Best Western Hotel. This was been done by the interim City Manager John Baker on August 5, 2010. It was done without any public input or oversight, despite previous discussions on the matter at the Ojai Planning Commission.
