evan austin is a 30-something Californian who lives in Ojai with his wife, three children, one dog, three cats, and a Roomba. Professionally, evan likes to call himself a graphic designer and social media helper, having graduated from Santa Barbara City College in 2007 with an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design and launched his own company, graphics (and more!) by evan austin, in 2010. evan also works as a multimedia technology instructor at Valley Oak Charter School.
evan is also a social/political activist, and founded the Ojai Peace Coalition in 2005 to build a community and coordinate efforts in the service of creating and furthering a Culture of Peace. The most visible expressions of this effort have been the Coalition's participation in Ojai's annual Independence Day parade, and the annual awarding of the locally-created Noble Peace Prize.
evan considers himself to be a citizen of the world, and has found a spiritual home in Unitarian Universalism. His strongest guiding principle comes from the wisdom of Gandhi: "We must become the change we seek in the world."
Each year on or around International Peace Day (September 21), the Ojai Peace Coalition awards its exclusive Noble Peace Prize to one person or entity in the Ojai Valley who works for and exhibits cultural Peace.

As i drove over the hill yesterday toward Santa Paula (Highway 150), i had the sad shock of seeing the lookout point over the Ojai Valley defaced in this way. The most immediate need is to have the signs re-painted…does anyone know whom the most appropriate contact is for that?…
i posted last month about the sidewalks that were starting to be installed along both sides of Lomita Avenue in Meiners Oaks, and got word that they were completed today! Here are a couple of photos…more at MeinersOaks.org.
Could it be that they’re starting construction today? (And might they have made it a little easier on themselves by waiting just 30 minutes or so before starting, so that the morning drop-off at Meiners Oaks elementary could be finished?)
