Weldon Canyon Dump and OVDF

by Tyler Suchman on September 2, 2010

Here’s a thoughtful editorial from Michael Shapiro on the Weldon Canyon Dump and the Ojai Valley Defense Fund.

For those who miss it, be sure to keep an eye on the Press Releases section over in the right sidebar of every page of the site. While I moved press releases off the main content area on the home page, there’s still some interesting reading and local news on a regular basis over on the side there.

Michael Shapiro accurately recounted what we all lived through during those years of fighting off the Weldon Canyon Dump. I was new to Ojai and was totally amazed at what a small community could do if everyone pulled together. We were all drained when the whole ugly thing was finally over. It’s a good thing we had a little bit of time to recoup our volunteer energy before the next challenge beset the valley. We can’t keep fighting off Goliath with our band of dedicated volunteers forever. I totally agreee that the Ojai Valley Defense Fund is a good way to deter Goliath from ever darkening the doors of our beautiful valley again..
