Meet Santa Paula resident Alana Taylor. She is twelve and a half years old, Ojai Valley Museum’s youngest summer volunteer.
Jill Helson, Administrative Assistant at the museum, received a call one morning from a girl with a little voice, but very poised and expressive. She inquired about opportunities to volunteer during the summer. Alana and her family meet Jill the next day. They all got acquainted and Jill toured them around the museum. She started that same day, working with Jill and helping with jobs that they could do together. Alana has made a list of items brought in and donated, started to organize an exhibit record book, stashed items away, helped collate packets for the Board and Docent Handbooks and painted several of the display cubes used in the current exhibit, “Made In Ojai VIII.” Her three hours always go by quickly and then her Mom is there to pick her up. Jill says that she is remarkably clear spoken, articulate and a delight to work with.Ojai Valley Museum’s Youngest Volunteer

This was such a pleasure to post as youth will be forming our future. It is a delight to see Alana working as a volunteer for a non-profit so early on. My wishes to her for a remarkable future and an acknowledgement to her parents for their part in forming such a lovely person.
The Ojai Valley Museum is proud to have Alana as a volunteer. We are so fortunate that she is so civic minded and wants to benefit communities in her spare time. We invite and encourage people of all ages to volunteer at the museum. We could do amazing things if we had more volunteers to work in varied capacities. Please call the museum, 640-1390 for more information and thanks for helping us fulfill our dreams.
Alana is our granddaughter and we are very proud of her. She is interested in so many things and is so creative. We enjoyed the article.

What a wonderful way to give back to the community. Start them young. Good job Alana.
