“When our Vet gazed into what should have been Elvis and Marilyn’s eyes, he instead found shriveled eye remnants deep inside the sockets. The two dogs had been blinded needlessly when their eyelids were allowed to fold inward and rub against their eyes, a condition known as Entropion. If you imagine what it must feel like to have your eyelids and eyelashes folded inward and pressed constantly against your eyes until they rupture, that’s what these two dogs were made to endure while the creatures charged with their care bred them, profited from them, then dumped them in a field to suffer a lonely lingering death.”

I’d like to see it in Newsweek, “My Turn.” This story is important on so many levels.

Maybe I’m missing something but it strikes me as unreasonable that you had to wait ten days to give these dogs the care they desperately needed. It seems in cases like this that there should be a form that could be signed that if the owners turn up looking for their dogs that you would return them. And if the owners had turned up surely the shelter would investigate them before giving them their neglected dogs back. I know our local shelter has a similar policy. It seems that an exception should have been made.
