Photos from the Marty Fujita Service

by Tyler Suchman on February 19, 2010

Some touching photos of the service at Meditation Mount this last weekend, with 300 or so in attendance. Photos are courtesy Timothy Teague, with the blessing of Marty’s husband, Chuck Cook. There’s a short video I took at the end of the post, sharing the song sung at the end of the service featuring Jack Johnson and Perla Batalla. And a link to the Food For Thought memorial page.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful photographs and video, especially for those of us who could only be there in spirit. It has been a sad month with many losses and more on the horizon. Yet the river of life flows on… this evening sat near a reservoir/marsh area and watched dozens of ducks swimming…suddenly they took flight and flew in their magical formation…you can feel their delight as they swim and fly…birds are like angels on this Earth…so fitting that the service for Marty was held outdoors, high in the hills overlooking this sublime valley…I feel her spirit is at peace.

These pictures are so beautiful, they truly capture the sacredness of this community. I met Marty once, she touched my life with glorious inspiration. She made the time to talk with me about school garden programs, as i was trying to get something started in the VUSD. Bless her soul for all that she did while here on earth.
