The winter season is a time of cold and dark in our hemisphere, and thus has arisen historically as a time for cultural and religious traditions that center around warmth and light in many forms. There are two such opportunities to connect as a community in the coming week:
Dec 10 – Join Ventura County Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (VC CLUE) and the New Sanctuary Movement on International Human Rights Day to kick off a week of action across the nation to shine a light on the urgent need for just and humane immigration reform.
Dec 11 – Join the Jewish Community Center of Ojai for a multi-cultural celebration of light, facilitated by Jean Bates, to honor the many seasonal traditions through music, dance, poetry, storytelling, songs, and audience participation.

Jean Bates (Broccolini) is a ray of sunshine, lights up the darkness and melts frozen hearts with her eyes and her smile.
Jews need a lot of support during the holiday season. Xmas has 12 days of gift-giving. Chanukah only has 8. Please help your Jewish friends from developing a serious inferiority complex and gift-deprivation syndrome this year.
For Facebook users who want the ability to Share the Dec 11 event in that network, it’s an Event.
