CityWatch: Joe Evan leaves + Reverse 911

by Tyler Suchman on December 4, 2009

Received two emails from “Randy”, no last name or title yet, with the following news. Details after the jump.
A Special Thanks to Joe: called back to detectives to investigate major cases out of the Special Services Division.
Reverse 911: Register Your Cell Phone: The system automatically broadcasts emergency messages to home and business landlines. Residents who wish to be notified by cell phone, TTY, VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) or e-mail must register for this service – and it’s free.

A Special Thanks to Joe
Greetings City Watchers,
I would liked to extend a special thanks to Joe Evan [sic] for all that he has brought to City Watch. Joe, along with all of your help, has nurtured the City Watch program from it’s humble beginning of a handful of concerned friends to the thousands it now reaches throughout the Ojai Valley communities and beyond. Joe believes, like all of you, that coming together as a team is the only way to fight crime and keep our loved ones safe. Of course, someone who cares so much for his community with the depth of experience that Joe possesses is always in high demand. For now, Joe has been called back to detectives to investigate major cases out of the Special Services Division. He sends his very best and looks forward to catching crooks with you again.
Joe has left me some very large shoes to fill as your new City Watch partner. The good news is that Joe and I have worked together before in detectives and have very similar styles. I look forward to catching crooks with you.
Randy
Reverse 911: Register Your Cell Phone
Good Evening City Watchers,
One of the best ways to stay safe is to be well informed, especially during natural disasters or other emergencies that can reach across entire communities. I would highly recommend that you take the time to register your cell phone. This will add another way to warn you should an emergency strike your neighborhood.
Randy

The City of Ojai and the surrounding Ojai Valley communities are connected to the Reverse 911 system, a telephone-based community notification system operated by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services (OES). The system automatically broadcasts emergency messages to home and business landlines. Residents who wish to be notified by cell phone, TTY, VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) or e-mail must register for this service – and it’s free.
Visit www.countyofventura.org and double click on the “Reverse911” icon to register on-line. Or send an e-mail message with your contact information to Reverse911@ventura.org . For more information, or to register by phone, call OES at (805) 648-9283

Tyler, thanks for posting this! I’ve fallen down on the City Watch forwarding job; sorry.
Joe — if you read this, thanks so much for all that you’ve done in the Ojai Valley and I wish you the best in your new gig.
Leigh
