Everything about this is so sad. I hope the 8-year old boy will be surrounded with love.
And another tragic reminder to slow down.
If I had the time and money, I would form a volunteer Speed Limit Force in this Valley! Yet another tragic accident on 33 in Casitas, and a reminder to SLOW DOWN! Hwy 33 is one of the most dangerous highways in the county–there a good reason the speed limit is 45, 35 in populated areas, and 30 at the Edison curve. These are LIMITS, meaning anything higher can be potentially fatal to the driver and others–even with the safest vehicle! I’ve had cars tailgate, honk and attempt to pass me on 33–even the flashing speed signs don’t seem to help, and when there’s police parked in Casitas, I’ve seen cars suddenly brake, then immediately speed up to 50 or faster! I’ve even called to report speeders–hopefully they were caught. There’s an older man who drives a JEEP 45-30 mph everyday during rush both hours holding up a long, long line of vehicles–it’s frightful to see them attempting to pass him! And I regularly see semi’s going 50+!!!
Keep your tires in good condition, SLOW DOWN for your life and everyone else’s life, ESPECIALLY in the fog, rain and wet streets! It’s an official “Safety Corridor” and people and animals live here! Leave early and SLOW DOWN–the Freeway is right around that corner!
My sincere condolences to the Hanson family, friends, students and cohorts–I know she was a blessed mother and teacher.
