The Ojai Calendar Project was started 3 years ago. The mission is to raise awareness and funding for the arts community. Our first calendar project was a success in many ways. We started very late in the year and got the calendar out a few days after Thanksgiving. We sold 1,000 copies and broke even. Many stores in Ojai and Ventura did very well in sales and made money. The calendar was sent to people around the world. And I began serving on the board of the Ojai Arts Commission.

Those things happened but it is what transpired over the last two years that prompted me to take up producing the calendar again. It got to the point were at least 2 or 3 times a week, every week people would compliment me on the calendar and ask if I was going to do another one. It was finally last Ojai Day that Bret Bradigan asked me if I would do another one that I began to seriously consider it. It was in January that I approached Bret about helping me produce the calendar. From there planning began.

It is now August and shooting is to start September 1st. It is a very different economic climate than it was in 2006. Merchanst are excited to carry the calendar again but are reluctant to spend in such iffy times. We have made some pre-sales to merchants. Now we could use some support of individual sales. Thanks to Tyler for once again hosting www.menofojai.com. Calendars are $25, tax included. Pre-sold calendars will be distributed at a gallery reception at Ojai Valley Museum, Friday, October 16. Calendar go on sale in stores Saturday, October 17, Ojai Day.

Also, We have not yet finished casting. It is only now that Salina and I will be able to work together and complete casting the group portraits. If anyone has any serious candidates, please contact me.
