Sarah Palin Resigning as Governor

Wow. Here's the AP news story lead:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made a surprise announcement Friday that she is resigning from office at the end of the month without explaining why she plans to step down, raising speculation that she would focus on a run for the White House in the 2012 race.
Right, she is stepping down to run for the White House, and has nothing to do with mounting legal fees associated with ethics complaints. We'll see.

Rolling Stones' Tim Dickinson on Sarah Palin:
Palin Resigns. But Why?!
Sarah Palin has pulled the plug on her governorship. Before the end of her only term. At an impromptu press conference. At her house. On a Friday. Before the 4th of July. And refuses to answer questions.
This is not in keeping with a woman with presidential ambitions.
And certainly not in keeping with a politician who has learned to milk a media frenzy for every last drop (see Letterman, David.)
No. This has the hallmarks of a politician slinking away before the shit hits the fan.
Really. If this were some double-bank-shot designed to bolster her presidential standing (as AP seems to suggest) would Sarah Palin choose to duck out on the first day of a three-day weekend? When the entire American mediaplex is off buying ice for the cooler?
No way.
Another shoe is about to drop, but what is it?
The only clue we’ve got, an oblique mention to a reporter from the outgoing Guv:
“You are naive if you don’t see a full-court press on the national level, picking apart a good point guard.”

UPDATE: Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC reporting Palin sources saying ex Guv is “out of politics for good.”

Would this have happened to a man or democrat?? I don't think so. It would be stupid on her part to run for president in 2012 as the media is reporting. But stranger things have happened.

More information on “grassroots” supporters gathering across the nation to support Sarah Palin for President in 2012 can be found online at www.palin4pres2012.com
Note, the website is in danger of crashing due to the flood of readers and supporters signing up to show their interest in a Palin Candidacy. The GOP establishment had better watch out, Sarah Palin and Ron Paul combined with the power of the internet will remove the stranglehold of GOP special interests and the elites who have brought the party to its knees in defeat in the 2008 elections.

She cost McCain the election, her folkyness, accent and winking do not ring true, her intellect is below par (our vivid memory of the last one who delegates and follows because of their lack of intellect), but lets face it with the right type of marketing (vote folky, vote god) it can be sold to US, history tends to repeat itself. God help us!

Anyone who thinks this is a shrewd political move doesn't have a clue.
Remember that $13 million sports complex in Wasilla? Turns out the contractors are tight with the Palins, and the Palins' house, built nearby and at the same time as the complex, may have the same building materials.
In other words, the sports complex deal was done in exchange for a free house. Mayor Sarah at the time "blocked an initiative that would have required the public filing of building permits".
This is being referred to as a "federal embezzlement investigation."
Who thinks this was about running for Prez? Riiighhht...
