I'm surprised such a liberal town thanked the armed forces!I guess there's still some patriotic pride left in the liberals after all for who keeps them free.

good GAWD, violetrose...do you live here? "liberal town"? at best i call it a mixed bag...there are plenty of very strong traditional, conservative, (religious) energies in this town, and they're not hidden.

you're also framing it as though a) people who identify as liberal don't appreciate the armed forces (sweeping generalization), and b) that the arts and mechanisms of war are synonymous with patriotism. might wanna check those assumptions out.

Bring on round two!

I hope, Violetrose, that you noticed that the "liberal" elements of the Ojai 4th Parade chose to display, honor and celebrate our Flag/Colors, our Patriots, and our POW/MIA's. As the Art Director for the Ojai Mardi Gras Krewe, I insisted that our Flags lead our krewe, that we proudly decorated with our colors, and I made sure we displayed a POW/MIA flag on our float. For you to narrowly judge the patriotism of what you call "liberals" is a slap in the face to Ojai. Just go home and skip it next year, or better yet, go spend you $$ at local businesses!

Omitted news.

Immediately following the parade, a female wearing am American flag, nipple covering, and a thong-type bikini bottom on rollerblades, began skating on the parade street (parade was over) and was subsequently contacted by two motorcycle police officers (jurisdiction unknown) and issued a citation. Other males with her group were ordered by law enforcement not to appear on the parade street. One of the male members of this group was allegedly approached by an caucasian male who then brandished a knife and stated he would cut the cyclist's genitalia.
The suspect was handcuffed by law enforcement officers and shortly therafter released. It would seem reasonable and prudent some news agency would have reported these two incidents. It is my opinion these incidents warrant a thorough legal examination. The intentional omission of possible misconduct by any law enforcement agency is a disservice to all citizens. Is anybody out there ?

Susan - there's a discussion about these incidents on another thread.
