Good for you evan! No doubt you will get a few snarky comments, so for that I say - you are one brave sonofabitch and even more deserving of respect!!! :)
Just one minor thought for now...Maybe it's just me, but I for one am not diggin' the webcam effect as much as I would regular video...
Great idea though. It would be great to see many of the OP authors posting "in person"...

Very cool! The human connection is very important to me. I tend to give to causes when I know the people who champion them, why they are passionate about their cause and if we have a personal connection that "clicks."

Evan,
Great post, as always.
The human connection is crucial. Which is why anonymous cyber-postings are so detrimental.
Speaking of which, the anonymous LTOR wrote:

Lol! We're all waiting for you to walk your talk! Careful, though, you might get fired, as I did. :)
Oh, that's right, you're not an Ojai Post author. Or are you? Hmm. I guess only you and Tyler will ever know. ;)

Hey Evan,
Good stuff man.
I believe human contact is crucial in promoting social change. When there is a face to a cause, when there is a voice I can identify with, I am more apt to want to participate. While I believe that web sites and their content can be inspiring, I believe that I am more challenged to "do something" or "make a difference" when I can dialogue about it with a person.
However, unless that person were to come to me, or solicit my participation I may not actively pursue my initial interest.
I do believe that being aware of social change is proactive and if anything, websites provide the venue for awareness. However, there is a gap between awareness and action; one that at times, i find hard to bridge.
