Volunteer for the ARC

American Red Cross of Ventura County Seeks Volunteers . . .
Free Training is Offered for the Disaster Action Team Institute

The need for volunteers is growing in today’s climate. The American Red Cross of Ventura County offers individuals an opportunity to give back by joining the Disaster Action Team (DAT). Free training is offered Saturday, June 13 and Sunday June 14 at Fire Station One at 491 “K” Street in Oxnard.

Saturday classes begin with an American Red Cross orientation at 8:30 a.m. Individuals will learn how the DAT is organized and how it responds to both small and large disasters; how the Red Cross feeds, shelters and meets clients’ needs and how the Red Cross responds to small local disasters such as a single family fire.

On Sunday, individuals will learn about shelter operations and experience a shelter simulation, a tabletop exercise pulling it all together.

Seating is limited and RSVP’s are required. To make a reservation, email TrainingVentura@usa.redcross.org or call 805-987-1514, ext. 320. Reservations can also be made online at www.arcventura.org.
