Tiananmen Square: A New Angle on History
From Patrick Witty, NY Times Blogs...

Terril Jones had only shown the photograph to friends.
While working as a reporter in Beijing during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, he shot many photographs and recorded several hours of video. It wasn’t until weeks afterwards, when he had returned to Japan, that he discovered the magnitude of what he had captured — an iconic moment in history from an entirely unique angle.
His version of the tank man has never been published until now.

Wow! Never seen that shot before. I assume we can trust the veracity of the New York Times, though I do seem to recall something about weapons of mass destruction not too long ago.
I find it so sad that our country has so badly failed our own principals, the very same principals that are laid bare in the ridged stance of that lone figure. After the events of Tiananmen Square the Bush Administration and then the especially the Clinton Administration felt that "globalization" and the vast untapped labor arbitraging potential made possible by the Chinese totalitarian ragiem was more important than standing firm for our principals.
We should all print this photo and then go and buy a frame at WAL★MART. One of those shiny ones that plays a happy tune, maybe Yankee Doodle Dandy.

Let's live in today. We can't go back to the past or fast forward to the future. The 50s, 60s,70s,80s, 90s, and almost the first decade of 2000 is OVER. All we have is today.

Here's one reason why your criticism falls flat, emerald...
Those that do not learn from the past are condemned to repeat it.

Emerald,
I can assure you that the corporatocracy that has decimated our economy and have helped keep China a one-party totalitarian nightmare love your philosophy. In fact, it is the primary message of most of their advertising.
