Outside at the OBC

The Ojai Beverage Company is opening up their outdoor seating on June 1. Should be a nice hang. Following is guest-article-meets-press-release from Randy Graham...

Ojai Beverage Company Expands

They are located at 655 E. Ojai Ave. and call themselves “The O.B.C.” which is short for The Ojai Beverage Company. Works for me!

The front of The O.B.C. is unassuming and if you’re going more than 35 MPH down E. Ojai Blvd. you might miss it altogether. That would be a shame. Walking into The O.B.C. for the first time is like following Alice down the rabbit hole. Once you’re in, a whole new world awaits you.

Their website advertises four places in one: a wine shop; a spirits shop; a beer shop; a fully functioning wine and beer bar. It is that and more. They carry over 1,000 different wines, 200 different tequilas, 300 different whiskeys and liqueurs and 750 different beers. Again, you’d never know it just by driving by.

In addition to their inventory, they feature scheduled events such as “Adventures in Beer” (last Saturday of every month). This is where they choose a different brewery or beer style and offer tastings. A modest $20 gets you beer tastings and pizza. If you don’t go for one of their scheduled events, walk to the back, order a glass of wine or beer and check out their “Something to Munch On” menu. It is vegetarian friendly. Among other delights, they offer Baked Brie, Queso Fundido, a Cheese Platter, a Portobello Mushroom Sandwich and a Spring Veggie Pizza.

The first few times I visited the O.B.C. I went to purchase specific wines or to enjoy a glass of Cabernet. The next time I visit I will buy a bottle of Casa Barranca’s organic Bungalow Red, sit at one of their tables (no corking fee), order a couple of items from their menu and just relax. Or maybe I’ll try the Cucapa Brewery “Chupacabras Pale Ale” brewed in Mexicali.

Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4PM - 7PM. They have plenty of room with their expanded outside seating area which has a soft opening Monday, June 1st.

Did I mention I can’t wait to go again?

and rumor has it that I may be playing music with George Lumire at the opening of their outdoor seating area on June 1. He and I have been playing at the Deer Lodge almost every Thurs., Sat. & Sun. and also at Full O' Beans every other Sunday. Pretty much a greatest hits of the 70's & 80's set. James Taylor, Eagles, Allman Bros., the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens, Sir Elton John, Genesis, Tom Petty, Rod Stewart etc.
