The Ojai Krishnamurti Film Festival, May 22-24, 2009
The Krishnamurti Foundation of America is opening its archives to show rare and historic films about the philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti. The Festival, to be held at the Krishnamurti Education Center (Pine Cottage) in Ojai, California, features a program of eight feature-length showings during Memorial Day weekend. Visions of America by local photographer Joseph Sohm at OV Museum
Visions of America addresses a single question: How do you photograph democracy? After all, democracy is an idea, and not something one can easily wrap one’s lens around. But photographing democracy is indeed what Joseph Sohm has done in this epic journey across the fifty states. Spanning three decades, tens of thousands of images were assembled in what becomes a compelling mosaic. More at the Ojai Valley Museum.
Red Cross / VC seeks volunteers, offers free training
The American Red Cross of Ventura County is seeking new volunteers for its Disaster Services Teams. Individuals can sign up for free training on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17, which will take place at the Hyatt Westlake, 880 S. Westlake Boulevard. Signup and more info at arcventura.org.
