Jesus rose to offer his DEEP LOVE to Humanity so they could in turn offer/BE that deep love to Everyone and Everything. HE DIDN’T, however RISE SO THAT:
1.You could wage holy wars in his name.
2. You would destroy the culture and hope of indigenous people across the globe.
3. You would subvert the minds of your beautiful young people, so they would be ashamed of themselves, their bodies, their sexuality, their thoughts, desires and actions.
4. You would send mis-guided mesmerized sheep to wake me up at 8 in the morning on a Sunday to tell me I’m going to Hell without their witness…
5. You would bomb abortion clinics to wage your ridiculous out dated holy wars in the 21st Century.
6. You would allow your priests to molest children and then ask for forgiveness in Jesus’ name without putting them in jail, where they could atone for their cruelty.
7. You would be so bull-headed and fanatic to think that you have the only road to Salvation and continue to be so utterly Stupid and egotistical. Good thing Jesus forgives you and so do I. Having said all that…IT IS WHAT IT IS!
STILL it is heartbreaking to watch the misery and unhappiness You have caused your friends, your family and the World in Jesus’ name. I pray that this glorious Easter HIS beautiful legacy will shine upon your Face and you will FINALLY WAKE UP to that most exquisite loving face of GOD that HE offered you on this most Holy Easter Day…
In deep LOVE and Hoping for the best, Dvorah

it is ironic that Jesus rose but Jews cannot eat bread that has risen.
Happy Passover!!
Ah men, Dvorah…
Somebody needed to say that, and you did.
My father is fond of reminding me that “good deeds won’t get you into heaven.”
It is a strange religion where a man who has committed the most grievous atrocities can confess his sins and accept Jesus as his savior on his death bed, and thereby enter the kingdom of heaven, but a non-believer, no matter how righteous his life, is doomed to burn in a lake of fire for all eternity.
A bible quote for today:
“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
I’m not a Christian. In fact, I subscribe to no single religion, and I include atheism in the religion column. That said, I find it vaguely distasteful to broadly chastise people who do subscribe to a religion on the eve of their most important holiday.
Today is a perfect day to remember.
“Why did Jesus Rise?”
Maybe it was the smell of good coffee? That’s what always gets me up!
Maybe it is a metaphorical story telling us about the Real Self within us that is more like a Risen Self, a Higher Self, a Self that is immutable and transcendent and lives beyond the death of body. Maybe our real identity is above labels and concepts of all kinds, churches and govenments and organizations. Maybe we are actually and factually living ‘out beyond’ the human-body-limited-view, we just got side tracked by all the spinning going on around down here. Maybe the story is telling us there is an ascended Self, a True Master that is within each of us, a Divine Selfhood, a genuine Christ Consciousness that is already our heritage and is actually the infinite totality of All that is and all that we are. Maybe it is story telling us all to rise above this temporal time-space conception of self and Live from the transcened view. Maybe Easter is a story of our metaphysical state of being, that we are Awareness, Divine Consciousness, and That is immutable, infinite and eternal; We are forever that which was before the world was. Maybe we just got the man and his story mixed up with a story about someone “out there” when it was really a story pointing to The One Eternal Light and Power Company within Every Man. Seems to me that the celebration is about the Joy we feel when we realize we are really so much more than a bag of skin and bones. It is a celebration of The Joy we feel when we discover that the Messiah, the Savior is within each of us and not in someone else ‘out there’. Maybe we are celebrating that we are in fact unbeholden to the images within awareness. Free from concepts and judgment, we no longer bow down to any organization, human government, or church. We know that idolizing any man “out there” Jesus Christ or other wise, would be foolish as we have all seen how putting our faith in humans that we have given pedestals to is always going to lead to corruption and sorrow. Maybe we are being reminded of what happens when we worship the fountain rather than drink the water. Maybe, maybe not. Happy Joyful Easter to all.
This is a very sad, very disappointing post. Is there any point to it other than to bring hurt to a specific people of faith by calling them “utterly Stupid” on their most holy day of the year? Again, very sad. Is this the type of meaningful discourse that can be expected in the Ojai Post? I was hoping for something more productive and beneficial to the community.
i agree with chad and for once, I agree with spk. this is sort of like when whatsername showed up at Easter services nearly nude and started screeching at all the worshipers and their children. oh yeah, i forgot, she said it was for the environment. today i will worship with peace those things i believe in while allowing others to do the same. don’t worry, chad, as you know there is more to the Ojai Post.
That’s the problem, they don’t allow other’s to believe the same, that’s why on this holiest of holy days (the so-called righteous) still think that everyone is going to Hell besides them.
The viable useful disagreements or comments with this post are #1 (fabulous!) #2 & #6. The rest are kinda comatose in their peaceful “atheist with a heart” juices…
On what better day to point out the dichotomy of PURE LOVE and pure fanatic dogma that has caused so much righteous fanaticism in our country, starting with the destruction of our country by Bush, Cheney, and Rowe (the resurrected trio)?
To all those beautiful people that are enjoying their God and family on this lovely day in Ojai and know deep in their heart that we ARE TRULY ONE FAMILY with different religions…I offer my deepest love and peace and pray for their continued sustenance from their meaningful, glorious Christian faith.
For the other’s that still feel that they are the only Ones that have a ticket to heaven and want to sell/tell the rest of the world how to pray and believe, I say: “Times are a changing!”
Happy Easter to my Christian Friends, I have many, and they love others as themselves by honoring all faiths as worthy of God’s loving/embrace into heaven.
Peace, He has risen for all, love Dvorah

May you have joy this Easter,a joy born of a life well-lived. May you have love stronger than death bringing healing and new growth into your life and light where it is dark-var. Judy Mannheim
If you’ve ever lost someone to death you will understand the above. You people in Ojai profess all this love for all of mankind and injustices but yet cannot tolerate other people. Get a grip and compassion for the real world. Don’t just preach it when you live in “Shangri-LA” and your lives don’t even touch reality.
Emerald – I don’t have a clue whether you were talking to me too, probably But that was a post worth reading…absolutely FABULOUS! Really beautiful.
btw – Shangri-La has got plenty of reality, death, misery, cancer, child abuse, bad teeth and everything else you find in the world “OUT THERE!” The only difference is that it’s got one highway and the guns are hidden.
D-I think you meant, “Why did Jewsus Rise? That was the original biblical name.
