OVGC: Advocacy 101 Workshop

23.gif(from the OVGC) April the 22nd—which happens, appropriately enough, to be Earth Day—will be the date of this month’s gathering for the Ojai Valley Green Coalition’s Ecology and Community series. The presentation will again be held from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Chaparral High School Auditorium at 414 E. Ojai Avenue, with a discretionary donation jar at the door.

The focus of the evening will be citizen advocacy, or how to work within an established system to create change. “Advocacy 101,” as the presentation is being called, will provide know-how for the active support of an idea or cause or the promotion of a change in governmental policy.

I'm sorry I missed this meeting and I really hope that some of the OUSD board members were there. Since I have personally worked with hundreds of local people over the years and the Ojai community has raised it's voice and dollars to support the Ojai skate park on one of the largest grassroot efforts ever to build a skate park for the children of Ojai. It really makes me laugh that Mr. Baird would organize and participate in a meeting about "how to work within an established system to create change" We have been trying to do this with the OUSD and at every corner they have put up very calculated road blocks, not come to meetings they have been invited to over the past year so they have all the information about our efforts and plans, stalling or stopping the skate park progress so they can develop another arcade, tri-plex theatre and low-income housing in the back in the place that you had your earth day meeting tonight. How green is that? Again, sorry I missed it, stay true to your green efforts because they are so important, I just had to comment on the fact that one of the co-founders is apart of this presentation since I have spent thousands of hours of my free time working on this and this one person has tried everything possible to stop the communities efforts.

Sunday,

Thank you for baring your soul and speaking your truth.

I (and many others)know how hard you have worked.

That's all I can think of to say.
