Some news items from here and there…
Earth Day Unplugged 2009 – Saturday April 25, 2-5pm at Oak Grove School. Join us in our efforts to “unplug” Earth Day by taking a few hours to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of live music, local organic food, the natural beauty of the Oak Grove, and each other.
Conscious Living Festival – Sunday April 26th, 12pm-6pm at Oak Grove School. “Visit for the day or enjoy an entire weekend in Shangri-la! Conscious Living Festival is a community event uniting SOULFUL, GREEN, WELLNESS, ARTISTIC, & LIFE ENRICHING people, products, services and events!”
Babysitter’s Training Class from American Red Cross of Ventura County, Friday-Sat May 1+2. Each student will receive certificates in Babysitting, CPR for children and infants and First Aid. Trainees will also learn how to supervise children, obtain feeding tips, get information on age appropriate games, and learn how to handle bedtime and discipline issues. i cannot overstate the importance of the two Earth Day events at Oak Grove School (also posted at ojaipeace.org)in regard to creating in real, practical terms what we will come to know as Peace.
Peace is not about bashing our compassionate heads against the wall of War…it’s about replacing the violent arts and culture with something at least as engaging and powerful, but life-affirming. Connection to our selves, to one another, and to our planet are all present concepts and practices included in the revitalized green movement, and make up at least 3/4 of what we will realize that Peace was all along.
