Attasalina and the Seraphim Rising are launching their first tour; Wrestling with the Angels at Theater 150 in Ojai on Friday, April 24th. Newly formed on 2008, Attasalina and the Seraphim Rising have eclectic musical inspirations drawn from the late 70’s and early 80’s art rock movements such as glam, punk, goth and industrial. Influential artists include: David Bowie, Bauhaus, Siouxie and the Banshees and Skinny Puppy. Their debut stage performance features a mix of original songs as well as unique material from some of the underground’s supreme artists. Woven together like a story, their music creates a powerful ambiance from the moment you step into the theater.

The band began in the Summer of 2008 when Attasalina’s passion to perform her own material reached an undeniable plateau. After years of playing with various artists in Ojai and Los Angeles, the time came to create her own project. At the suggestion of a friend, Attasalina re-connected with bass player Matthew Sewell. Together they recorded a few demos and began developing material for their debut album. Soon after, Matthew invited long time friend and musician, Sunny Erickson, to join the band. His psychedelic sensibility and unique talent for evoking gut-wrenchingly beautiful sounds from his guitar blended perfectly with Attasalina’s gothic, singer-songwriter style. After hearing some preliminary studio sessions, Gordon Branchaud joined the project and the rhythm section was formed. Gordon’s talent for wreaking sublime havoc on a drum kit was a true inspiration and, no doubt, rooted in his heavy metal background. Gordon’s intensity combined with Matthew’s aggressive yet haunting bass technique evokes a compelling sound stirred with stunning vocals and a down and dirty groove.
Attasalina and the Seraphim Rising’s debut album is set for release in late Summer/Fall of 2009. Until then, you can catch Attasalina and the Seraphim online at www.theSeraphimRising.com or live, in concert. Tickets for Theater 150 on Friday, April 24th are $15 and can be purchased at www.theater150.org or in Ojai at Coffee Connection, Cardinali Bros. Music and Studio Sauvageau. Doors open at 8, Show begins at 9pm. Limited Seating. Food & Drink. Ultimate Surrender.
