Free Musical Instrument Petting Zoo

by Tyler Suchman on March 12, 2009

A great event for the kids from the Ojai Music Festival…
Musical Instrument Petting ZooCrash, bang, toot! The Ojai Music Festival’s BRAVO! education program will present a first-time Musical Instrument Petting Zoo on March 18, from 3 to 6 pm (update: come when you can between 3 and 6pm), at the Miramonte Elementary School. A free community event, the Petting Zoo is geared to students grades first through third who might be interested in learning more about orchestral instruments.

Participants will be able to touch, try out, and enjoy a variety of instruments from the orchestra family – strings, brass, percussion, and woodwinds – provided by the Ojai Music Festival’s BRAVO! program, which will be staffed with Music Van volunteers from the Ojai Valley.
The Musical Instrument Petting Zoo coincides with the Festival’s annual free Music Van program, which has been touring elementary schools in the valley for the last two weeks. The Van is loaned to BRAVO! by the New West Symphony.
For information on the Petting Zoo please call 646-2094. For more information on the Festival and the BRAVO! program visit OjaiFestival.org

Ohhh, OUCH, DK!!! :-)
I just love this!
What a brilliant idea — kudos to the Festival folks for such a great way to entice kids to learn about instruments.
Best,
Leigh
