I actually work at the Ventura Trader Joe's, and this video is awesome! We have pretty good parking, the only problem is that everyone seems to come at the same time, which is why it's full during most of the afternoon. If you come in from 9-12 you will get a decent parking spot. After that, you could be parking in the other lot next to the old K-Mart. Come too late, and our shelves are wiped clean. One thing you may not know, is that we are the most popular store in Ventura County, let alone the region. Which includes S.B., and all the Thousand Oaks stores. We have the SMALLEST backroom in the region for the amount of product we sell daily, it's amazing how we do it. Yes, we do run out of products, and discontinue them. We only have so much squarefootage, that we have to replace slow selling products with new ones instead of adding something to the shelf. I have written fresh, bread, the milkbox, and produce, and I can personally tell you we are struggling for extra space for new products that keep coming in. It's really nice that everyone that shops there is so friendly. People get offended and mad sometimes when I ask them for their zip code, like I am going to send them advetisements or follow them home. I'm simply doing a zip code demographic to see who is coming from where. The most zip codes usually mean a new TJ's will go there. But we have dropped 2 locations already in the past 2 years. I recognize so many people from Ojai when they come in, because I used to work at a grocery up there near Fulton Ave...with a BBQ out front. It makes me feel like I'm back in Ojai sometimes. HAHA, and for the 12 items in the 10 Items line, in Ventura, it's like 25 items in a 12 item line, with 25 people in line behind them with 12 dirty grins on their faces. =)
FYI ALERT!!! I finally found a TJ refugee (discontinued item). Lip healer SPF 15, it cvs4health.com it's 3 long years that I've been periodically looking for one of my favorite TJ refugee!
I'd like to write a song about Farmer & the Cook.
(make up your own tune)
I used to love the farmer & cook
Their organic veggies & lentil soup
But now their tables are covered in filthy grey rags
With dirty wrinkled tablecloths that should be in bags
They've got curry spots on crummy chairs
And waitresses with faces covered in hair
Oh I used to love the farmer and the cook
when they weren't filthy chic & I didn't feel took...
I wish they'd get back to their homey "clean" image
Instead of figuring out how to make fancy spinach.
I'd like for once to sit at a clean table
So I can bring my uncle and aunt Mable...
for dinner
Having said all that - the food is still great but it is disgusting to sit down at a table that has a dirty table cloth, grey/white wrinkled dinner cloth napkins and a chair with tomato sauce spots on it...quite un-appetizing... I usually end up taking everything to go. I'd bring more friends there for lunch if the environment wasn't so dismal...the grocery part is still great and I love their fresh produce.
If farmer and the cook - would just get a couple of wholesale wooden tables and always, always leave the table clothes off and Serve paper napkins and buy some new chairs at a garage sale or some other kind of office sale, the place would be great.
It's cool to be funky, but they're Berkeley grunge funky.
Steven & Olivia, we love you and we appreciate the service you have done for the community, if you would just ask for some help, I bet the whole community would pitch in to make the place edible. I'd be the first to bring my family and friends for lunch & dinner & snacks.

Here, I'll take stab at the lyrics:

I wish Dahl's Market in Oak View was a Trader Joes. That would be awesome!

Trader Joe's is the Obama of food shopping.
I owe my life and all the good things that will happen tomorrow largely to TJ's

I never knew T.J.'s had all that stuff. My friend always goes in. I loiter in the parking lot watching the beauties go in & out.
