Back in November, Tyler posted this announcement about the creation of Ojai Valley City Watch, a program run by Sergeant Joe Evans at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department to build better communication about crime prevention around the valley.
Living in a neighborhood that has had some challenges with criminal activity over the years, I’ve found a heads-up when there is a spike in activity to be really helpful. So, with that in mind, I thought I’d occasionally post some of the news that Joe is sharing in his email newsletters.
This week, he writes about car burglaries in a few areas, including:
• The housing tract off Rice Rd. between Alviria and Camille
• The area of Burnham Rd. between north Rockaway and the Corner Market
• The North Ventura Ave. area in the Norway St. tract
Apparently cars parked both on the street and in driveways have been hit, and police suggest that you both lock your car doors and be sure to remove valuables from the car at night.
If you’d like to be on the email list for Ojai Valley City Watch, and get more complete information regularly, please email Joe at Ojaivalley.Citywatch@ventura.org.

I missed Tyler’s original post, so I followed your cross post and was surprised at the comments it received. Personally I think the program is a great idea that morphs the ol’ neighborhood watches to today’s technologies. I guess some folks believe being fore warned is being fore armed….and others believe being an ostrich is a better position to take. Thanks for the post – I signed up.
