January: What To Do In The Garden

by Tyler Suchman on January 2, 2009

More from the OC Register…
what to do in the garden this month

As soon as you shake the confetti out of your shirt, you might start thinking about bare-root season. January is the month to plant all things dormant such as roses, fruit trees, asparagus and berries.
These plants, which are “out like a light,” haven’t a clue that they’ll be waking up in your landscape. Give them a good home by preparing the planting area before you shop.
January is also the month to prune just about anything that you can reach with your shears, but especially fruit trees and roses.

I’d love to see more of this kind of info – or can you suggest some online resources pertaining to our micro-climate?
