I Had A Dream

Submitted by Kristofer Young, DC
November 27, 2008

It was the night, I mean the middle of the night, of November 7, 2008. Just three days previous, Barack Obama had been elected the 44th President of our great nation. And wouldn’t you know it, the President-elect, showed up in my dream.

The scene was a modest home, not ours. The occasion a friendly, informal dinner. As I entered the living room, I saw Barack. I didn’t know that he had been invited, but was not overly surprised to see that he was one of the guests. Though we had not previously met, I felt the joy of an opportunity to be with a beloved friend.

I walked right to him and gave him one of those light and loving fist jabs to the shoulder, as men are apt to do. Wasting no time, I cut to what was on my mind.

“I am really looking forward to our country establishing universal health care under your guidance. As a chiropractic physician, I have many thoughts and hopes about how health care providers that are not medical doctors should be included in our new system”, I said.

Just then my conscious mind realized that Barack might be hoping for a relaxed evening with friends; a break from others like me, telling him what they want, and why.

“I’m sorry, you’ve probably had enough of dealing with issues and responding to constituents. I don’t want to spoil your evening with this discussion,” I added.

“No, Kris,” the President-elect replied, “I need to hear what you have to say!”

The dream ended at that moment.

I awoke to the new day knowing that our new President is listening, not just to me, but to all Americans. And I awoke with the joy of knowing that our new President will guide us to a new system of health in which all people are cared for, and in which all valid healing practices will be offered on a level playing field.

You may say that I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one.

Get back on the wagon Kris...

Thanks, Kris, for sharing your dream!

I knew John and you are not him. That you wrap the "flag" of John & Yoko around you is a total sham and abuse of Lennon, his memory and what he stood for.

Your lunacy is 180 degrees removed from the humanity of John. That you think that you are among those whose behavior honors his spirit is even more tragic. Nothing could be further from the truth.

That you fear the real truth is probably reason enough for you to delete this posting, meaning I will just have to post it elsewhere instead.

You can not hide.

Thank you, Kris, for sharing your dream. All my friends knew I was a rabid Hillary supporter and I was so angry when this young, inexperienced, smooth talking man, stole the prize that rightfully belonged to her.

Well, this is one Liberal who’s not afraid to admit being wrong. Hillary didn’t deserve to win this election and today, I’m so happy she didn’t. Barack Obama has already proven to me that he has only the best interests of our country in his heart. His appointments alone show he is about fixing what’s wrong and not about an agenda or ideology of I’m right/you’re wrong politics. He has already satisfied me and he hasn’t even taken office yet.

It was amazing last Sunday on Meet the Press watching a President Elect who answered every question he was asked, with care and honesty and with all the right answers. What a concept, an articulate President! His willingness to provide transparency to all aspects of the White House and his decision making process gives, “we, the people”, our government back.

It was amazing last Saturday to watch his radio address and see that his first order of business is to change light bulbs and heating systems, while at the same time putting American’s back to work. Gosh, a government working, “for the people”, for a change instead of just the rich.

Now, it’s our turn. This is not going to be a perfect president. No one could be. He’s not always going to make me happy either, but we do need to make sure this guy stays around for eight years. We cannot count on the Secret Service, The CIA, or The FBI to protect this amazing man and his lovely family. It’s up to all of us, the American People, to be vigilant, to guard him so he can do the work of the people.

Barack Obama has it within his power to be a “Change Agent” in our country and in the world. As we know from our history when someone with this power comes around, there is always someone there ready to stop them. Heads up America!
