Radio Ojai and the Ojai Film Festival

If you attended the free screening last night at the Inn, I would love to have you on today's show. Contact me and I will fill you in on the details. Participants will also get an official Radio Ojai fridge magnet!

Among the screenings tonight, at 5:30 is Tru Loved, a light-hearted story about the teen daughter of lesbian moms, and at 8:00 is Mulligans - called The Graduate for a new generation - the story of an affair between a father and his son's best friend from college.

Exciting stuff, I just did a phone interview for Radio Ojai with filmmaker Klaudia Kovacs, who talked about her highly anticipated feature documentary, Torn from the Flag, what it's like to be under consideration for an Oscar nomination and her experience working with celebrated cinematographer, Laszlo Kovacs. Torn from the Flag will screen Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Listen to the 8-minute interview here:

What a crazy night on the red carpet at the film festival's star-studded closing ceremonies! I'll let Demetri do the full post (he did, afterall, borrow my pen and paper), but for now, listen to filmmakers talk about their films and their love of Ojai and mix with celebrities. It's pretty obvious that some enjoyed the open bar more than others! Celebrities include Malcom McDowell, Edward James Olmos, the Donners, Bruce McGill, and John Bennet Perry. And I also had a chance to sit down with none other than Ray Bradbury. Listen here:

I'm going to bed!

Hey Stary-Eyed Lisa! I enjoyed both interviews. Ofcourse it was thrilling to hear Ray Bradbury, whose writing I devoured as a teenager and promise myself that I will read again. I found myself wishing you had responded to what Ray Bradbury was saying, so that there would be some dialogue between the two of you, rather than moving on to the next question...but I guess there is only so much you can fit into the short time you had.

I especially LOVED what Ray Bradbury said about doing what you love, and how he came to Ojai at age 25 and visited with Krishnamurti...

Thanks, Suza! My time with Ray was very restricted. I had to advance those questions. He's in a wheelchair, can't hear in one ear and his vision is failing. He had a very hard time signing books. I felt very lucky to have the time I did.

Thank you, Lisa, I get the picture! How great that Ray came to Ojai in his wheelchair, with his ears and eyes failing...that makes your Interview with him even more special. It is very moving to hear his voice and spirited responses to your questions...
