I, for one, see no racism whatsoever in MT. Racism is a serious charge. What are such attacks based on? Reason? Well, then give your reasons and leave the ad hominems at the door.

I happen to believe that MT is telling the truth and has the courage of his convictions. He is demonstrating love for truth and justice, the only way to peace.

As far as racism goes, his intimate relationships with womam and the earth argue strongly against such an unfair public accusation. Unless the accusers can back their statements up with clear, convincing and unequivocal reasons, an apology and retraction is in order.

MT is doing Ojai and the world a favor by questioning received opinion. So what if he uses poetic license and humor? This is nothing compared with the abuse McCain and Palin are taking as we head down the homestretch. No humam being should be subjected to such abuse. Obama also is taking horrid abuse, and his family. Reason has gone out the window on both sides. Cool it, Ojai. Show the way to peace through love and justice.

The Oblama part escapes me but I think I get the other undertones. In case you don't know it, there are some serious reasons for my reservations, other than the emotional furor that Obama is stirring up.

Follow the money, not the emotions. Who has raised the most money? Where has this money come from? Who has the most advisors and the very same ones who engineered the crash and are making money off it? Who has voted for war? Who has threatened war on other countries? Who is really playing the race card?

I come to the defense of MT because of truth, not personality. I read his words on this Post carefully. I have observed his life. I have talked to him personally. It is possible that he is not what he seems, and if it turns out there is a dark side which I do not agree with, I can always change my opinion. We all have a dark side. Ojai has a dark side. So what?

MT is a plus to Ojai and to the Ojai Post. Don't those who are calling for MT's removal realize that they are arguing against freedom? That is real racism. Prejudice against a free race. MT has not violated any of the guidelines and if he goes down because of dislike, money, business or anything else of that ilk, that, my friends, is racism, not his gentle and hypocrisy piercing words.

Does Ojai have a Mosque? Ojai really would be a perfect place to offer Southern California Muslims a place to retreat and practice their faith in peace and tranquility. It would be a significant contribution to diversity, education and global awareness for those in the region. It should be suggested at the local Government level.

Thanks for the video link, MT. I think I understand better now what you're getting at with Om-Bama. With my heavy religious background, I can feel the emotional undertow. Very powerful, especially when joined with modern secularism. Power keeps shape-shifting like a chameleon from age to age. The games are endless.

For me, I choose Love. I know for most people that's just a word. Words are symbols and metaphors, pointers to reality but they also have a reality in themselves. They carry energy and emotional impact. Hence, the chanting of Obama's name. At first, I couldn't believe the video was serious and then I realized that it was. People actually believe Obama is some kind of a savior.

Love is the only savior and love is certainly not bombing the earth womem and children. Even O'boma's name gives away his game. I hope to Love I'm wrong, wrong, wrong but I can sort of see the writing on the wall. A commenter above said I'm blind. In this case, I hope he or she is right.

I'll say this. Salvation is not found in crowds or group hysteria. I founded a party but it is a party of one and has no formal organization. The Lover is always coming as a sort of Messiah, I guess but always in an individual. Groups are problematic as far as I can see; their main function being to reflect back to individuals and to provide training in love. Individuals who turn their power over to a group or ideology are missing the love inside of them.

Individuals who love themselves in communities of love have no need for saviors or political power movements. We had it once when the Lover created femina sapiens 150,000 years ago. That long lost grace was largely overturned by patriarchy and its new world order, although remnants remain in scattered individuals.

Thanks for keeping this thread alive. Bring it back again and again. Current politics is a reflection for ourselves. Part I had Obama ascending like Jesus. I see patriarchy ascending in its power-mad desire to conquer nature, particularly womem. Of course, all this is cloaked with multiple deceptions.

We can defeat enslavement by global financial crime if we all can agree on what their crimes have been and what those crimes have cost us and if we can disconnect from their programmed deceit and move as one mass, in every city and village in united opposition to the debt slavery, wage-slavery, monopoly-slavery, dumb-down slavery, rigged-election slavery, monetary slavery systems that are our chains.

I think I understand the entire Kelptastrophe crime and can explain it to you clearly enough that everyone will have sufficient reason to come together for whole-population resistance and liberation. Sorry I don't have time to polish the presentation -- consider it a battlefield dispatch. This nation is being overrun by financial vandals disguised as regulators and bankers -- as destructive as any invasion in history. We are finished unless millions are made to see what is happening and what is at stake.

There were no bad loans. The loans were reasonable given the interest rate and the law of averages. Given the economic climate in which they were made the risk was reasonable and was "taken into account" by the interest rates offered. The market failure came about for other reasons.

People failed to make their mortgage payments all at the same time because purchasing power had been drained from the domestic economy by the Fed in its "inflation fighting policy." Even now the Federal Reserve has the power to reverse what is happening by merely decreasing the reserve requirement that it sets for commercial lending institutions. And even now the Fed is holding back on supplying the public with mortgage payment medium on the grounds that "technically, as economists have agreed to reckon it, the US is not in a recession (a recession being defined as consecutive months of declining gross domestic product.) [Note: the Kelptocracy is above all else a transfer of wealth (houses, equity shares, debt obligations which are bond wealth for the rich etc.) from the hands of the masses to the hands of the ruling minority, not a decrease in outcome. In this economy for every decrease in income to the middle class and poor there is a dollar increase in income to the rich, for every liability-side increase in debt to the poor there is the asset-side increase of just that amount to the rich. The population can be reduced to total beggary and the economy still not register a recession. End of note.] So, instead of providing mortgage payment and food payment and fuel payment media to the people by simply decreasing the reserve requirement to give more loanable deposits to banks "for nothing" as the Fed was chartered to do, the Fed has taken a much different course. It has kept the money supply tight to benefit lenders and IOU holders at the expense of everyone else.

The Fed has kept the reserve requirement constant throughout the Kleptastrophe. Adjusting the reserve requirement was the lever for expanding the money supply that the Federal Reserve banks were supposed to use when their was a shortage of purchasing power in any of the 12 Fed Reserve districts. The tool was to put money in the hands of small businesses and new businesses, and homebuilders and farms etc. whenever purchasing power got too tight and there were too many foreclosures. But that is not what the Wall Street financiers wanted 100 years ago when they decided to foist a central bank on the US -- but it is what they wanted Congress and the American people to think it would be.

Rather than create new loanable funds by simply reducing the reserves a bank was required to keep against its loans outstanding, the Financiers made a different arrangement for expanding and contracting the money supply. All expansion and contraction would be conducted by big investment banks either by buying securities from the Fed (which shrunk money investment bankers had to invest in big corporations or loan to cities, states and the Federal Government) or by selling securities to the Fed (which gave the investment bankers more money to invest in corporations in investments at in the US or elsewhere.) This is what Timothy F. Geithner does at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York -- telling the Fed Board of Governors (including Bernanke) what he and the Wall Street financiers have done only after the fact. (And yes, probably Geithner is an order taker most of the time -- except in matters touching the Kleptastrophe where he has the key role as director and member of the orchestration team. Needless to say when loanable funds are handed to investment bankers in exchange for the securities they hold, the money they get for lending (which must give a return higher than the securities were offering) does not end up as new purchasing power (new debt-paying power) in the hands of the average American householder.

So the Fed, rather than putting the purchasing and debt-paying power in the domestic economy loop where it would reach householders with mortgages they limited their purchasing power creation to their own elite circle attached to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the only Federal Reserve bank in the country which conducts these open-market purchases and sales.

New York Federal Reserve Bank and its President, Timothy Geithner Chinese-speaking Timothy Geithner is President of the New York Federal Reserve Bank and Vice Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee which really controls the amount of loanable funds in the economy. Fed Chairman Bernanke is a powerless figurehead and misinformation mouthpiece, a cardboard figure who merely announces what the new discount rate (the rate at which the Fed will lend money to banks "discounted" with treasury securities held as collateral so banks will not dip below required reserves when they are lending close to the the limit allowed by their excess reserves.) Don't think for a minute that the Fed Chairman or the Board of Governors is the power behind the Fed -- he is merely the "front man," the only leader of the system that is "appointed" by the President -- that being the only basis on which it can it all be said that the Fed is in any way an instrument of the US government or responsible to its people.

Both the Chairman and the US President who appoints him are mere tokens following orders. The real power is Timothy Geithner and the men behind him -- Kissinger, Greenspan, Voker, Reuben, Thain and Corrigan as will be shown below.

The power is with the New York Federal Reserve bank and the President of that bank serves only the finacial intests of the international investment bankers. (Don't be fooled by the redefinition of banking -- the investment banks are now "commercial banks" only in the sense that by becoming so they escape all of the until now still-remaining regulations that hampered their actions. What we have seen is nothing less that the climactic phase of the takeover of the US banking system by the international investment banking interests -- "the Rothschilds and Rockefellers" as the ordinary citizen often refer to these interests consisting of many super rich families/clans around the world.

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, except for Geithner are powerless. Geithner only enjoys power in the sense of a worker who drives a big powerful truck, but only where he is told -- except that Geithner is trusted to map out the plan.

Geithner, it also should be noted is a former Director of Policy Development at the International Monetary Fund and Senior Fellow at the Council of Foreign Relations. He is close to all of the heads of the European central banks.

But who is behind Geithner?

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve (shown below), ALL POWERLESS, EXCEPT for Geithner. The Chairman is merely a salesman for the policies set at the New York Federal Reserve Bank and the bankers with whom he interacts.

Which of these Fed Governors is not a powerless window-dressing rubber stamp?

One with real power, but all are yes-men to the Money Interests and acting in a charade harmful to the public interest.

The impresarios of the 2008 Kleptastrophe is not Paulson or Bernanke, but Timothy Geithner working with John Alexander Thain and Gerald Corrigan among others, mostly former Goldman Sachs financiers -- chief architects for carrying out the Kleptastrophe policies of the Money Power. They planned the drought of purchasing power that brought about the foreclosures which destroyed the credit markets in order that the bankers could acquire all of that American housing (prime rental properties) for themselves and their friends in China who they have made rich by investing over there all of those loanable funds the Fed created.

They got hold of the properties, but off course they could not resell them in the US since they had deliberately eliminated all of that American purchasing power -- and so they provided themselves with the $700 billion bailout where the government buys the houses they got for themselves. The taxpayer, even though he just had his house foreclosed, now has to buy the house anyway at a price far above present market value and do so at gunpoint -- not right now of course -- he hasn't got the money, remember -- but over the years and at compound interest, because the bailout of the domestic banks is funds borrowed from the international bankers at compound interest.

Of course buying Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae -- buying the mortgages and lowering the fees on loans -- is also a hidden bail, rather than an "investment" as the idea was sold to the public -- again with funds borrowed from the international bankers. The Fed borrows to bail, but then this causes the price of treasury securities to drop, since the government is flooding the market with increased supply of its new IOUs -- which of makes the price of securitized mortgages to drop -- which has been the source of purchasing power for new home loans.

But of course that is only the beginning. After getting the $700 billion of taxpayers money to buy the houses they have taken from the householders after strangling domestic purchasing power -- the next step is to rob all the banks in the country not owned by the Money Power. This is accomplished simply -- having hit-man Paulson round up the big bankers -- remember West Coast banks like Wells Fargo and Bank of America have always been somewhat independent of the Rockefeller-Rothschild-Morgan dominated Eastern Banks. Now they are finally being brought into line.

The two western banks, Wells Fargo and Bank of America, after seeing what was done to their fellow Washington Mutual, were not in serious difficulty, Kenneth Lewis of Bank of America, seen by investors as strong throughout the crisis, was able to raise $10 billion and Wells Fargo CEO Richard Koacevich felt that with its less vulnerable loans it was not needing the "Corrigan Plan" that Paulson was pushing on them. Of course if they had an ethical bone in the bodies or any consideration for their shareholders they would have rejected scheme even under the wrack. The government was forcing the nations big banks to let the government buy in with astounding now borrowings for future taxpayers to pay, three or four times the size of the $700 foreclosure buy-up bailout! This of course would be dilution of the stock of banks existing shareholders, essentially theft from everyone who owns stock in those banks -- real bank robbery -- and who gets this stock? That Paulson did not say, but the answer is obvious. The government has cut itself in on all of this diluted stock, and this stock, while the government in holding it pays a dividend of 5 percent. But that 5 percent dividend only lasts for five years before automatically being raised, regardless of the economic environment at the time, to 9 percent. In the meantime, the government will "privatize" the holdings of the shares of these banks that it has created -- selling them off to those who can afford them in this domestic-purchasing-power constrained environment -- who but the Money Power themselves flush with all of this taxpayer largess?

So the end result will be -- when you disregard all of "paper" assets and see where ownership of the banks went -- that the Money Power now owns more of these banks and the American household with bank stock will find that his share has been diluted and that he gets no dividends because the government's no-soon-to-be privatized shares that pay dividends of 9 percent will be getting all of the profits leaving none to go to the people with ordinary preferred stock.

The Kleptastrophe thus plunders the American economy in a number of ways that are totally devistating -- as damaging as unlimited war. And it is war. No one but a foreign enemy and agents of that foreign enemy holding no loyalty or sympathy for the American people could be merciless enough to inflict such ruin and misery.

You and I and the people around us have to come together intelligently in our understanding of this attack and how our very lives depend on acting as a unified citizenry -- the only way we have any power at all -- and stopping this financial sabotage meant to destroy and enslave us to the Money Power that has been behind all of the wars and depressions this country has faced over the last 150 years.

The head of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, Timothy Geithner, who "realized" Corrigan-Thain-Reuben-Kissinger et al.

Kleptastrophe plan is the son of a father who worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development dealing with the "opening of China." Timothy was thus raised and educated in India with frequent visits to China. Graduating from the International School in Bangcock the future Fed banker came to Dartmouth and to John Hopkins where he majored in East Asian studies (which includes China, not India, please note) and International Economics -- not Money and Banking! (Remember, Gaithner came to the New York Federal Reserve Bank without extensive knowledge of our banking system -- hit men and infiltrators do not have to be experts in the field they have infiltrated, they just have to know where the money is hidden and how to get their hands on it -- they have to know "explosives," not "bridge building."

From Dartmouth young Geithner went to work for Henry Kissinger -- working with directly under Kissinger himself. (Recall that Kissinger is the man who opened up China -- visiting China with David Rockefeller the week after Nixon's famous visit, where Rockefeller, Kissinger and Zhou Enlai planned the de-industrialization and destruction of the United States and its system of popular representative government which Rockefeller, Kissinger and Zhou detested -- Zhou, by the way, had family links with London bankers that go back to his ancestors who were the Emperoror's agents dealing with the opium traders of Hong Kong etc. Kissinger and Rockefeller are American agents of that international Banking Power.

Rockefeller has run the US for the Money Power interests through his creation the Council on Foreign Relations. Geithner is a member of the Council on Foreign relations and one of his Kleptastrophe team headed the CFR for several years. (More below.)

From his mysterious "research" work directly for Kissinger -- at a time when Kissinger was making his money selling corporations his influence and connections with top Chinese bureaucrats for the great transfer of industrial wealth from the US economy to the Chinese princelings and those international corporations with Kissinger-brokered access to China's labor and resources -- Geithner then moved on to work for the U.S. Treasury Secretary for International Affairs, Lawrence Summers.

It should be remembered -- along with other facts I will remind you of as we go through this -- that Lawrence Summers was being investigated for illegal gold transactions, along with Greenspan and others, in September of 2001 -- specifically, for selling Federal Reserve Gold to Wall Street financiers (friends) at prices below the price that could be gotten on the market at that time. As things happen, however, all of the investigators into that crime and the evidence that had been gathered perished in the collapse of the North Tower of the World Trade Center on the 11th of that month. Prior to 9-11 Kissinger happened to be on the Defense Policy Board at the Pentagon, with Paul Wolfowitz (who would head the IMF), Douglas Feith and Richard Perle at that time -- planning wars with Iraq and Afghansitan before 9-11 happened !!! And of course Henry Kissinger was George W. Bush's first choice to head the 9-11 Commission -- which he backed out of when conspiracy theorists on the internet began making too many connections.

At any rate, Geithner became Summers "special assistant" -- pretty good for someone who had been trained out of the country and had been working confidentially and with low profile for Kissinger before landing this job. Then Geithner became Assistant Secretary where he figured in the response and aftermath of the emerging-markets implosion of the 1990's, negotiating, among other things, "bailouts" for assistance packages for Brazil, South Korea, Thailand as well as the financial services agreement with Japan after that countries financial collapse -- when China's American financed "industrialization" really took off. In 1997 Geithner served as a negotiator for the United States in the 1997 World Trade Organization financial services agreement. Note that it was the Clinton Administration that gave him this job -- Clinton being the President who spent an entire month in China with no good reason in 1998 -- planning what? (Note that Paulson has spent a lot of time in China just prior to the unfolding of events -- he was there during the early Congressional inquiries, preventing him from testifying, even though none of those questioned were put under oath.) Back in 1999 Geithner became Undersecretary for International Affairs as Summers went on to run Harvard University. Over all of this period Geithner was doing work involving China at a time when America's economy was being mercilessly sabotaged -- for so it is obvious to me -- in commercial real estate markets, to the WorldCom, Enron, and the collapse of American "dot-com" and other high-tech industries.

This could be written off as coincidence until it is discovered and confimed that the entire Kleptastrophe was an act of war involving the teamwork of international financiers and the China princelings whose influence Henry Kissinger and only a few others gatekeep.

In 2001 Geithner was employed by the International Monetary Fund. In 2003 Paul Volker was one of those who recommended Geithner for the position of chairman of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, the position from which he now conducts the execution of the Kelptastrophe now in full swing. [Paul Voker, you may recall, was the Fed Chairman who played out the last act of the S & L scandal, by tightening the money supply after Fed Chairman Miller had overseen the hyperinflation that forced the S & Ls to invest in junk bonds and forced the banking deregulation that made that possible -- Volker then tightening the money supply to make debt more valuable now that the Money Power now held all of the IOUs and collapse commercial real estate market at the same time ending in a sweet deal for Wall Street engineered by William Seidman, a deal no one was in a position to refuse, just like today.

Alan Greenspan, who -- as I mentioned above, was also being
investigated for illegal gold trading by the Fed when he was saved by 9-11 -- also backed Geithner for this position. Former Treasury Secretary and Goldman Sachs alumni Robert Rubin; Alan Greenspan; and Lawrence Summers all supported Geithner for the job. When you work for the Money Power you are above Dem-Republican partisan politics -- something like the relationship between Lieberman and McCain one imagines.

Almost immediately after Geithner took control of the New York Fed the team for the Kleptastrophe came together -- no time is wasted in the world of the money power, when the safe crackers arrives the crime must be executed as quickly as possible. In covert asymetrical warfare surprise is everything. The main coaches behind the plays are ...

The plan had been in effect for a long time and grand work had been done to set things up for maximum effect. The American people had been assaulted every night, in previous years, with phone calls offering instant cash and refinancing of existing debt if only they would increase the mortgage on their homes. How many people in India were employed in making these offers for the banks making these investments. Why did these lenders think that they could make these loans without fear of the consequences? Were they irrational and taking place of a group mania for mortgage lending heedless of the risk? Definitely not. Economic agents, especially the most experienced, the best informed, the ones hiring the best minds, are not reckless and they do not get irrational manias. They knew that for them the risk of the loans they were making would in some way "be taken care of" so that they need not screen their risks. The people making the offers and transacting the loans didn't know the plan, but those behind it all did. Those securitizing all of the mortgages and selling them internationally to the the foreign holders of all of that
cash accumulated from the year-after-year-after-year US imbalance of trade -- knew that those international investments would somehow be made good -- knew that the titles to all of that real property gained in foreclosure after the calculated restriction of American purchasing power would be eventually bought back by the "bailout measures" stemming from the Kleptastrophe. While it is true that sub-prime morgage lending increased from 9 percent in 2001 to over 20 percent in 2006 it must be remembered that the credit worthiness of the typical American household was declining and high-pressure sales were increasing the number of 2nd mortgage households in people who otherwise would not take the initiative to seek second mortgages. Of course the tightening of the M1 money supply by the Fed resulted in increasing debt for households, and with no means of earning more money to meet those obligations there was greater pressure on Americans to refinance to cover that debt. (I did this, and I don't feel it was a character weakness of mine to have done so. It was the only way to keep the house and maintain my current standard of living while hoping for a better income later to catch up to where I was etc.

I don't think I was alone in this.) The point is not that the rules were relaxed, but rather that more people at the low end were pushed through the mill under the old regulations. The blame must go to the few people controlling monetary policy and the macro-economic conditions -- not all of the big and little lending institutions in the country all suddenly getting crazy at the same time. Only those bankers who were in on the Kleptastrophe from the beginning were those giving the orders to make irresponsible loans -- and this group was definitely a minority of the national banking community. The predatory loans were the loans made to credit risks heedless of the risk because the lender was counting on the Kleptastrophe to absorb all of the loss regardless of risk.

Middle-class families did not fail to "think ahead" and accumulate too much debt to meet their obligations, rather they made the most rational decisions given their incomes and prevailing prices, only to have their budgets broken by price manipulations (oil, food etc.) by the International Money Power that was working toward the Kleptastrophe.

Normally there is no problem with high-risk loans -- people are assigned credit ratings and the law of large numbers guarantees that a certain number of these will fail to make their payments and a certain number will come through OK -- and so a "risk premium" is added to the interest rate to compensate and everyone is happy. Nothing went wrong with that system. What happened was that the system was sabotaged from the outside by the Fed and the policy and practices of the investment banks that buy and sell on the loanable funds market -- which Geithner and the New York Federal Reserve Bank Open Market Committee were influencing.

Monetary policy and manipulation forced the mortgage crisis at the macro-economic level. The people who were foreclosed were not more lazy than at other times and the loans were not extended heedless of the risk -- generally Building and Loan companies and banks made sound loans -- but they were not ready for the tighting of purchasing power by the Fed continuing to resist lowering the discount rate so banks could inject purchasing power that would enable people on the paycheck, grocery, rent, mortgage, food loop to make ends meet. And of course at the same time, to further increase the foreclosures there was the monopoly restriction of gasoline supply -- monopoly pricing of gasoline to destroy the household budgets of mortgage holders -- ensuring that foreclosures would come thick and fast to force the Kleptastrophe crisis to maximum effect. If it weren't like I say then all that would have collapsed would have been the sub-prime sector of the economy, rather than a catastrophe that reached to grab wealth and dry up credit in all financial markets, destroying the credit ratings of states, municipalities, and government agencies. Mortgaging our houses became the only non-shrinking source of purchasing power left in the economy.

People understood, or should have understood, that the increased mortgage loans were keeping the economy out of a coma. But even as this new purchasing power from mortgage loans came in, the Federal Reserve was maintaining money supply tightening so that paying those loans and the interest on them would be impossible. The centralized finacial system, overseen by a few corrupt men are behind the Kleptastrophe -- they did not suddenly get lax and give loans to obvious deadbeats -- rather they beat the American householder with price increases and reduced purchasing power in the domestic economy until we are now almost dead.

Why was Goldman Sachs able to "dodge the bullet" in the securitized mortgage collapse? Why was it able to show a 79 percent increase in profits? What did Goldman know that others did not know and how? How is it that Goldman Sachs has been spared of all merger trauma? Even though now a publicly traded firm it is run like a partnership and although it weeds its staff ruthlessly it has never had hostile defections from its top ranks. They encourage their top people to leave early after great success.

When Geithner got to the New York Fed Bank he immediately began close working association with the world leading expert in what we might as well call Applied Financial Kleptastrophe Science, Dr. Gerald Corrigan.

Dr. Gerald Corrigan, the worlds leading expert on "systematic financial shocks"

Closely working with Geithner is a man with singular credentials. Corrigan is Goldman Sachs Managing Director, Co-Chair of the Goldman's Risk, Global Compliance and Controls Committee committees. He himself was President of the Federal Reserve Bank of NY from 1985 to 1993.

From 1993 to 1995 he headed the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a member of the Trilateral Commission. He is Co-Chairman of the ASPN Institute Program on the World Economy. He on the Board of the Chicago Merchantile Exchange. He is a member of the Institute for Financial Stability studying the conditions under which financial catastrophes obtain, the conditions responsible for instability. From 1991 to 1993 he was Chairman of the Basle Committee on Banking Supervision with other governors of the central banks of the "Group of Ten" countries. He joined the Fed in 1968 and spent 25 years there. When he left the Fed to join Goldman he began there as Chairman of International Advisers and Senior Adviser to the Executive Committee. And not to be overlooked are Corrigan's membership in the "Group of 30," his role as Chairman of the Counterparty Risk Management Policy Group and its conclusions summarized in the paper with the misleadingly reassuring name, "Toward Greater Financial Stability," also known as "the Corrigan Report;" and his role as Chairman of Basle committee and the Basle accords mandating restructuring of the US financial system more to the liking of the international investment bankers and the central bankers they control. [Note: The term counterparty can refers to any brokers, investment banks, and other securities dealers contracting in over the counter securities or derivatives transactions. ]

The Group of 30 was created by the Rockefeller Foundation and is today chaired by Paul Volker. The "30" are the heads of the biggest international banks and central banks, other "leading financiers," and a small group gifted mathematical economists that show them how things are done in the complicated realms of derivatives kleptastrophe. It was this Group which planned and promoted the total deregulation of derivatives markets which was very quietly passed by Congress while public and media were totally preoccupied by the "hanging-chad" controversy which, the the nation's shock and horror, was preventing the orderly election of a President in the month following the 2000 election. Of course the election "hang-up" was pre-planned as distraction cover for this crime. The Group of 30 examine with presumptuous authority the question of who benefits from any decision made in the public or private sector relating to foreign exchange, currency markets, international capital markets, international
financial institutions, central banks or the macroeconomics of any country. The Group commands and special study groups are created with experts in regulation to focus on modifications of national regulatory systems. They determine what regulatory system a country like the United States should have and then they take measures to bring about that system. In 2007 the Group of 30 created the "Financial Regulatory Systems Working Group" aimed at institutional reorganization, in effect picking the kind of regulatory environment international finance wants for itself and its competitors. Their assignment: to devise revisions of the financial regulatory systems of the U.S, Britain, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuwait and Qatar among others. Of course the question of how the international financiers would get the United States Congress to make these modifications on the basis of these special interests and not any of the interests within the domestic economy is not unlike Paul Wolfowitz's question of how to get a nation to invade Iraq after the Cold War is over and people are looking forward to peace and prosperity in a peaceful world. Wolfowitz had his "direction for the next century," a direction of pre-emption and unilateralism, and as as Professor of International Relations and Dean of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University Wolfowitz led the study called the Project for the New American Century spelling out the necessity of the US taking down the enemies of Israel begining with Iraq. But Wolfowitz knew that a catastrophe, a "new Pearl Harbor" would be necessary to motivate Congress and the public to not resist a President taking up those policies. The Group of 30 had their New Economic World Order in mind too. Did I mention that Geithner too as well as Corrigan is a member of the Group of 30.

The Corrigan Report of July 2005 written when he chaired the Counter Party Risk Management Policy Group, described efforts to identify the the variables producing "systematic financial shocks," the kind of shock "inflicting serious damage on the finacial system and the real economy" and to find ways of "managing" the damage caused in such shocks -- the kind of shock, according to Corrigan, "that cannot be sorted out in the market place." It was a study of determining "our capacity" in an environment of "complexity and tight linkages" to anticipate specific triggers" of systematic financial shocks and of analyzing and calibrating whatever "shock absorbers" are available.The report called for leaders of major regulatory agencies to strengthen "institutional, behavioral, and risk management arrangements" affecting "private pools of capital and virtually all other classes of market participants" -- "in a context in which speed and complexity of activities to ... cannot be managed or supervised by reliance on detailed rule books" and where one must avoid "the counter productive information overload problem associated with public disclosure."

"If there was such a shock, what would be the damage," asked Corrigan. What would be the counterparty risk? What would be the effect of credit derivatives in systematic financial shocks? What settlement mechanisms would and could be brought into play?

Certainly unregulated credit derivatives transactions, with their flexibility, function as "short sells" and "margin calls" if so desired. Corrigan's investigations must have included those possibilities even though the conclusions were worded in terms of "risk mitigation" and "governance of hedge funds" etc. The simple conclusion was that whatever happened would be over the head of most of the participants, that with the right real-time data processing and the right models to predict and to project the outcomes of interventions it would be possible to steer a kleptastrophe with all of the world wondering if it was an act of the invisible hand of the impersonal and incomprehensible market mechanism. The reason the great mathematicians are so much valued by the Money Elite is that they can create these heists that all but a close group of cooperating insiders and some bought-off academics among the multitudes of the human race could never begin to figure out. It's like the question of whether a particular hurricane or drought was the result of "nature," or "global warming," or clandestine weaponized weather modification in the hands of people heavily invested in commodities futures contracts and derivatives bets on future food prices. Corrigan correctly reported that the low probability event of a systematic financial shock occuring naturally was very small, his report did not even mention the possibility that men exist who are in a position to initiate such shocks and to do so when they have pre-arranged for themselves the most advantageous circumstances for such a shock to take place. Corrigan gives not even a hint that a shock originating in this way is a possibility.

What what is more obvious than the existence of this moral hazard, this opportunity for successful gain from kleptastrophe without being detected or penalized? But now we do know that Corrigan did see the possibilities of gain from kleptastrophe, that he and Geithner and the interests they serve were in fact uncaring enough of the fate of the victims to go ahead and commit crime. Certainly they were right in thinking that even if stray individuals on the internet detected saw through the smoke screen of rhetoric concealing the kleptastrophe, that no one would be in a position to bring them to justice.

Corrigan then was working on 1) the effects and prediction of catastrophic economic shocks -- that actually affect major transfers of assets; 2) direction of risk position; and "global compliance and controls" to bankers competition agreements including the Basal Accords.

Wiki says of Corrigan: And since 1999, Dr. Corrigan has served as Chairman of the Counterparty Risk Management Policy Group (CRMPG). The CRMPG is a financial industry policy group designed to promote enhanced strong practices in counterparty credit risk and market risk management. In this capacity Dr. Corrigan testified before the Committee on Financial Services of the U.S. House of Representatives concerning hedge funds and systematic risk in the financial markets on March 13, 2007. In concluding his testimony, Dr. Corrigan foreshadowed the pending financial crisis of 2007-2008 by stating "[o]ne of the most difficult challenges in human endeavor is how we manage low probability events - such as financial shocks - that can cause so much damage. ... "

So was Corrigan suddenly caught up in the very catastrophe he was spending years evaluating from every angle only to be taken completely unawares? Of course not. His breed, the elite who work for Zionist internationalists are not caught unawares. When events happen around men from Goldman Sachs they are not chance happenings, not the "low proability" cast of the dice that Corrigan, Thain, Geithner, Paulson and the others would have you believe. This was an act of war, an act of plunder by international pirates disguised as America's guardians of the economy.

Let's look at some more.

Former Goldman Sachs John Alexander Thain is now President of Wealth Management, Global Securities and Global Banking at Bank of America. Before that he was the last chairman of Merrill Lynch before that company was sold to Bank of America for $50 billion.

Not surprisingly Thain was brought to Merrill Lynch at the time of its crisis because he was considered a top expert on mortgage backed securities. Thain, by the way, has been the CEO of the New York Stock Exchange, its president and chief operating officer and chief financial officer as well as President of Goldman Sachs, its Chief Operating officer and Chief Financial Officer.

John Thain

The Kleptastrophe brings commercial banks under the regulation that "international banks" arrenged for themselves in the Basal accords -- The Basel Accords determine how much reserves ("regulatory capital") a bank must hold -- in other words this international constrains how much credit banks are allowed to extend to citizens. The international bankers now determine the monetary policy that determines American purchasing power, the money supply (which comes into being when banks lend money) and credit in the United States. The Kleptastrophe has forced the restructuring of the Banking system to the specification set by Corrigan and the others behind the Basle architecture. The equity cushion the Accords require are but a pillow pushed over the face of the American economy -- the air we get being controlled by the bankers.

These rules mean that the greater return which is a function of greater risk to which the bank is exposed, the greater the amount of capital the bank is forced to hold idle -- which of course means that other banks must cut in others on these big ventures. The rules force them to reduce their return on capital by having to hold more reserves idle for each dollar invested in certain kinds of investments -- this puts breaks on investing and developing around the world -- a case of monopoly price fixing in the loanable funds market through constraining of the quantity that banks can lend -- raising the interest rate (which is the price of their product, i.e, loanable funds) and restricting the quantity of that which is sold at the expense of everyone else except the bankers who made these rules for themselves.

Before setting the Kleptastrophe in motion Geithner sent examiners to the major investment banks to calculate to the penny exactly what manipulations would be necessary to effect exactly the transfers of wealth, the consolidation, and the new monopoly control he was assigned to bring about -- even though the Fed is not supposed to have regulatory power over the investment banks. Emergency powers left over from the Great Depression (Bernard Baruch's architecture) were invoked. The examiner he chose (without a competitive bid process) was asset-management company BlackRock, Inc. whose board of directors includes Thain.

Ralph L. Schlosstein

BlackRock, a firm managing nearly $1.2 trillion in assets, was founded by Ralph L. Schlosstein former Managing Director of Lehman Brothers Inc. where he headed the Mortgage and Savings Institutions Group Member of the Visiting Board of Overseers at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, a member of Financial Institutions Center Board of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and until recently a member of Advisory Council of Fannie Mae. And once he was Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Department. He stepped down as President of BlackRock a year ago.

Larry Fink

The President of BlackRock now is co-founder Larry Fink. Fink as who managing director at First Boston years ago pioneered the mortgage-backed securities market in the United States. September 29, 2006, BlackRock completed its merger with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Managing portfolios in global capital markets including mutual funds, closed-end funds, managed accounts, and alternative investments that include credit derivatives BlackRock was in a perfect morally hazzarded position to profit from a foreknown kleptastrophe. Such foreknowledge would make successful management of the $1.2 trillion assets they managed very very easy. How responsible is it to have such an interested "auditor" be given regulatory power to look at the books of the institutions with which it itself does business? The mice designs the mousetrap, the burglars the alarm system.

The banks BlackRock audited for Geithner today no longer exist. The assets they held are now in other hands.

John Pickel

Robert Pickel is the President of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association, Inc. for privately negotiated derivatives and governments and businesses that rely on over-the-counter derivatives to hedge market risk or speculate. This is the global trade association for OTC derivatives. The essential idea is: "We regulate ourselves." The ISDA pioneered efforts to predict and control the risk events derivatives bet on, "advancing the understanding and treatment of derivatives and risk management" including through other things "credit derivatives" -- big bets on what will happen to credit in the future. Fore knowledge of the kleptastrophe would be of course an opportunity for unspeakable gain in the credit derivatives market -- and gain that would not have to be reported because privately negotiated derivatives not regulated. "It's difficult to get everybody pull together to achieve the right result." But if big enough events are triggered by the efforts of just a few key players -- with Geithner, Corrigan, Thain and a few others calling the shots
-- then the profitable-for-some distaster can be controlled to yeild just the right new economic landscape the conspirators have been seeking. On October 6, Pickel announced the successful implementation of its Protocol for credit derivative transactions involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac a month after they were placed in conservatorship on September 7. It was a plan to settle all bets to make everyone reasonably happy if they would just play along. 651 ISDA members of the voluntary Protocl immediatly announced that they would adhere to these ad hoc rules."The Protocol, which closed on October 2, offers institutions the ability to amend their documentation for credit derivatives transactions in order to utilize an auction to determine the final price for settling CDS transactions referencing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."

"ISDA is committed to working with public policymakers and market practitioners to further encourage the prudent and efficient development of the privately negotiated derivatives business in China." --

Here are some more relevant items that must be mentioned.

Paulson was conveniently spending a lot of time in China in April 2008. He has made over 70 trips to China in his career and as Secretary of the Treasury has attempted to pressure China into opening its real estate to resale (peasants since the revolution have not been allowed to sell of their land), mortgages and securitization and insisting that they create more "investment-worth corporations and fewer public utility and small businesses in their economy. As "an economist of Goldman Sachs" Paulson expressed his outrage to the Chinese that in China only 4 percent of capital comes from the organized capital markets (the investment bankers' loanable funds) when 2/3 of capital comes from the capital markets. So far the Chinese have been yielding on every point -- the distressed peasants in bad times can now sell their land and move to the cities and look for work in the global economy, like we all did. That is his kind of regard for the welfare of the people of a nation.

You find Goldman Sachs alumni in the most unusual places -- AIPAC has nothing like the influence of this company. For example, Mario Draghi, the Bank of Italy's governor and Joshua B. Bolten, the current White House chief of staff are Goldman Sachs.

Goldman Sachs man John Tain came to Merrill Lynch after its loyal CEO's were sacked and acted as the butcher, serving it up to Bank of America for a mere $50 billion at $10 per share, a stock that had been selling at $171 per share less than two years before. To the end the Merril Lynch management on whose watch all of this transpired insisted that their investment bank was adequately capitalized and the cash flow to make it but that a campaign of rumors of insolvency caused a bank run.

Robert Zoellick

And then there is Robert Zoellick. From 1993 to 1997 Zoellick was Executive Vice President of Fannie Mae, responsible for it's shift to the "affordable housing business". He has been Counselor to the Secretary of the Treasury and Deputy Secretary for Financial Institutions Policy. Today he is the Director of the Aspen Institutes Strategy Group on Foreign Policy. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and sits on the Advisory Board of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Trilateral Commission and the Advisory Board of the Center for European Reform in London. As a State Department offical Zoellick led in the NAFTA negotiations, the Urugual Round and the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Group.

It was Zoellick who arranged for the securitization of third world debt (exactly like the securitization of American household mortgages!) to transfer ownership away from the institutions that made the loans.

We see this group of Goldman Sachs men using their "club membership" -- not unlike the Skull and Bones -- to insinuate each other into strategic positions and use those positions to create situations profitable to the firm. There is no reason to suspect that these men with their internationalist, Zionist, financial elite backgrounds would have any sympathy for the interests of Americans whose economic lives have been put into their greedy hands. But by owning the media and by being able to put their friends in important high-status positions they are treated -- as Lawrence Summers was made President of Harvard University (he was one of those mathematical economists who devised ways of robbing American investors at levels too far above their understanding to be noticed. (Summers incidentally is being accused by Russians of participating in the biggest single heist of material ever assets - "the looting of the fruit of 70 years of labour of Soviet citizens. 3,000 metric tons of gold bullion was trucked out in the night from the Central Bank in Moscow and the pros who ordered it, did not allow the gold market to dip." I have already mentioned his role the crime involving Federal Reserve gold -- and what about that gold removed from beneath the WTC? Why were the money men allowed to violate the crime scene in that way?)

In the cases of Bear Stearns and Merril Lynch it was the mortgage lending banks (through securitization) that were destroyed by the derivatives investing banks. Of course the derivatives investors have the econometric models and the statisticians and mathematicians and the data (unavailable to government because not required by regulation anymore) and the international connections to have designed and effected the control necessary for pulling off the Kleptastrophe.

Bear Stearns was an aggesssive competitor -- for example thy invented the securitized mortgage -- and in the world of the banking elites real competition is not really acceptable. They were sabotaged by the Kleptastrophists. The Kleptastrophe was a deliberate trap set for Bear Stearns -- they did not see coming the rise in gasoline prices and the related and unrelated increase in food and other prices hitting all at once sabotaging their lending position and bringing them down. The securitized mortgages actually helped keep the economy afloat, possibly against the wishes of the Money Power. With billions in sub-prime losses, the biggest write-down in Wall Street history, last year Thain stepped in and presided over the shambles. It was clearly a case of Goldman Sachs alumni at the Fed and at Treasury bringing down an old opponent, like Wolfowitz, Perle and Rumsfeld had their role in bringing down all that 9-11 has brought down. Only after targeted Bear Starns was out of the way, did the Fed begin to show the generosity, opening the discount window "candy store" to the investment banks for the first time, cutting the interest rate and offering short term loans -- measures that might have prevented the fall of Bear Stearns, in many ways catalyst event for the main event in the Kleptastrophe. The Goldman Sachs crew that was running the Financial system of the United States, ostensibly for the benefit of the American people, engineered the crisis -- to profit themselves, but before they would let the government shower the (international) investment banks with the people's credit which Treasury and the Fed commands, which the architects of our financial system never dreamed would be used to benefit investment banks -- they first had to get rid of their hated competitor.

Now the investment bankers, their banks now enjoying all of the tax-payer provided backing that had been intended only for our commercial banking system -- they have attained their goals -- capture of everyone's home equity, displacement, through watering of stock, of American's investments in commercial banks, with the taxpayer actually buying the stock for them, and with a new system where the taxpayer now bails out the investment bankers who have been doing all of their investing in China and not the US for the last 20 years and rigging everything against the domestic economy.

New Moon Festival for Lakshmi, her turning of our world.

Diwali follows Dashera. It is a spectacular religious festival held in late autumn. The celebration takes place on the darkest night of autumn, the new moon day (Amabashya), at the beginning of Kartika (October-November), eighteen days after the celebration of Dashera. Diwali means cluster of lights. On the Diwali day, rows of lamps decorate the houses and presents are exchanged.

Diwali, in the north of India, is associated with the coronation of Rama when he returned to Ayodhya (in Uttar Pradesh) after vanquishing the demon Ravana on the day of Dashera. Ram had been in exile for fourteen years and his followers were pleased to see his return to Ayodhya. They welcomed him by decorating their houses with lamps and rejoiced with the display of fireworks at night.

Diwali is seen as a renewal of life. Houses are painted and necessary purchases are made at this time. In Maharasthra, Diwali is seen as a festival for warding off king Bali, the ruler of the underworld. In the western part of India, many Hindus believe that the souls of their ancestors come to visit their homes during the new moon day of Diwali. Lamps are lit to guide the way of the departed souls.

In Gujrat, Diwali is associated mostly with the worship of Luxmi, the goddess of universal good fortune. It is believed Luxmi on this day emerges to bring prosperity to the whole world. Luxmi puja in Gujrat lasts for five days which starts with Dhanterash, the worshiping of goodness. The fourth day is Gujratis New Years Day. Luxmi is believed to visit the homes that are well lit. So, families decorate their houses with light, flowers and paper chains. It is believed that lighting the new lamps will drive away evil and poverty from the world and heralds better times.

In the eastern part of India, especially in West Bengal, Luxmi puja is celebrated five days after Dashera, on the full moon day (Purnima). On the following new moon day (Amabashya), coinciding with Diwali, goddess Kali is worshipped. Kali has a terrifying look. She destroys all evils. Lamps are lit in her honor, and in return, she promises a renewal of life and justice on earth.

(Tridevi is Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Saraswati - also representing Tamoguna, Rajoguna and Swatikaguna. Durga Sapasati explains this. Durga saptasati or Devi mahatmyam - has three aspects - Prathama Charitam, Madhyama Charitam and Uttara Charitham - these corresponds to 3 the devis in that same order. That is also the spiritual progress of the devotee - from tamogunam to rajogunam to satwika gunam. Also at the end of Durga saptasati - there is Rahasyatrayam - explaining the worship of these world devis.)

Jock, thanks for clarifying MT’s role here as you see it. I assume you see your self in the same light. Here are my two cents about how, in my opinion, the two of you come across:

I am no teacher, but it would seem to me that some very important tenets of Teaching 101 are the following:

a) Have an unbiased, clear-sighted and intellectual basis and foundation for the “information on a silver platter” that you are trying to impart.
b) Teach in a clear, precise, logical manner so that those you are preaching (oops, sorry – teaching) to have a desire to listen and absorb your self-proclaimed pearls of wisdom.
c) When your “students” want to engage in further conversation or ask questions (as many of us did in the beginning), it might be wise to acknowledge this participation -otherwise stay out of a give-and-take blog forum and publish your rants (sorry – dissertations) in another, more conducive format.
d) And if, God forbid, you have a self-righteous, Holier-than-thou streak, you feel it is Your-Way-Or-The-Highway and you have utter contempt for your “pupils”, might it not be wise to leave your attitude at the “classroom door”?!?!

In other words, cutting and pasting from the internet, using a bizarre writing style that nobody has the desire to plod through, mocking and making mind-boggling accusations towards everybody who believes (or lives their life) differently, and not being willing (or is it able?) to engage in healthy dialogue (like many if not most of other OP readers do on a regular basis) is clearly a sign that one DOESN”T HAVE THEIR INTELLECTUAL SHIT TOGETHER.

We've long known who LTOR is and she is not a he. Did my question (#5) ever get answered?

I think the time has come too for us as individuals to use our freedom of speech and have the courage of our convictions. MT and Jock are real people in a real town of Ojai. They do not use pseudonyms or anonymous. They state their convictions in terms I can easily understand. If I see them on the street I can approach them and engage them in real discussion. One of the benefits of living in a small town is the bridging of the real and virtual worlds. Some may have good reasons for not identifying themselves and where they are from; but the reasons in most cases probably do not include courage or clarity of conviction or communication.

There seems to be much truth in the maxim: the political is personal. Ultimately, reality may boil down to each one of us personally, and therefore, one who stands naked in her or his community of peers is on the face of it closer to truth and integrity.

That being said, there are reasons for not being personally exposed. It is a choice and everyone's choice is to be respected in a free society.

Personally, I resonate with MT and Jock, and others in this Ojai community more than I do with others, and there are all kinds of degrees and reservations in that. Ojai is a great place to live just for this vital exchange of information and feelings.

When someone calls for the suppression of information or individuals, I take that as a sure sign of something being repressed within themselves. The corollary of that is projection of denied personal matters. This thread is ostensibly about Obama but really about each individual who observes and comments. Obama acts as a mirror for what is inside of the one before the mirror.

The OP tends toward the liberal political spectrum in favor of Obama. Liberals have a nicer image than their opposites but their dark side gets exposed when that nice surface gets scratched. MT and Jock use truth needles to needle this liberal hypocrisy and you get the type of reaction we see here now.

All very interesting and informative from my point of view. MT and Jock are gentle souls who happen to have gifts of irony and subtle expression. Truth hurts and those who hurt defend themselves and their images by denial and projection. It's a classic response.

My two careers were priesthood and nurse, so I'm sure my preaching and fixing training shows through my efforts to conceal and control. So what? No matter what our defense mechanisms, others are going to see us clearer than we can see ourselves. That's what mirrors like Obama and the OP do. To slam the mirror isn't going to help; there are too many mirrors.

I read everything MT and Jock provide because of their truth content. They're on to something very important that our culture denies and represses. They used to be called prophets, and as the bible saying goes: a prophet is no without honor except in his or her own town.

This is not an endorsement of anyone but a defense of everyone's right to be heard with respect and reverence for the truth they may be revealing. Much is being revealed nowadays for the benefit of us as individuals and for US as a nation. The truth will out, and more quickly because of the work of MT, Jock and others who have the courage of their convictions to state them publicly under their own names.

Back to Barrack and the topic of this thread. I understand that Oblama is more properly Om-bama in the context of a muscal video by a local artist which MT was referencing. I linked to the video and it was a powerful experience for me in ways you would not expect. In other words, a truth hit home to me past my cultural conditioning. I had to accept the truth of what I formerly denied.

We have to persist in our quest for our own truth. My experience is that we will be tested and challenged all along the way. Every action brings its own reaction which can strengthen or weaken the originating action.

Om sounds like the chant Aum and bama sounds like bomb. Now, to you that may mean nothing while to me it may be very significant. Om-bomb is an emotionally loaded word which sets off currents of feeling-energy within me. My point is that if those few of you would succeed in your campaign to get Tyler to suppress MT and/or Jock, I would be deprived of vital information and energy I need to do what I need to do. Examples along that line could be multiplied.

Freedom of speech is essential to love, justice, peace and all sister virtues, especially truth. "Freedom is just around the corner for you; but with truth so far off, what good would it do?"

I believe this thread or one like it should be first on page one all the time. You may not agree. But give MT the credit for operating within the guidelines which we have all accepted and also expressing the courage of his convictions.

I see that O-bomb-ya has just brought on board Colin Powell who by any objective standard of truth or justice is a war criminal. It's a calculated move to win the election. Now, how many of those cheering multitudes even think of that? The connection with the cheering multitudes for Hitler or any other dictator is not that hard to make; in fact, it is impossible to miss, unless you want to miss it. In other words, deep truth is not in emotions or in multitudes; it is in reason which resides in individual minds.

The Om-bama video featured mindless music in order to create sweet emotion. This is beneficial and harmless when balanced but in the hands of manipulators or manipulatees, it is far from innocent. Truth is about order, and emotion is quite low on a scale of values; animals have emotion.

A commenter above complained that the thread "Does Ojai Love Animals?" had only one hour as lead article when it was bumped. Animal lovers have their own pet truth, and oppose cages for animals about to be butchered. They very carefully seal off from awareness that pethood itself is a cage which enslaves animals and deprives them of their natural independence and freedom; not to mention the hidden costs to the human species.

We all have our private truths. It is by sharing them that we set them free in the community of our peers where they sink or swim on their own merits, unless of course a society is secretly fascist and calls for repression of all but its own pet ideology.

When Pilate asked Jesus "What is truth", Jesus was silent, indicating that Truth cannot be told in words. His followers knew better of course and put into Jesus' mouth: "I am the Truth...", which is true of course but only as far as it goes.

Fair enough MT. I have said before how much I admire your connectivity to the earth, your lifestyle and commitment to what you hold dear. As a gardener, quasi-vegetarian and avid re-user, recycler and re-purposer – I (again - as I’ve said before) was quite thrilled with your early, initial posts.

I'm back quicker than I thought. Comment 41 by LTOR came in a few minutes after my last post so we were probably typing at the same time, and I'd like to respond to it and comment on 39 by LS.

First, comment 39. I thought the same thing. Why "Oblama"? I didn't get it and said so. MT referred to the contextual video, and that "Om-bama" would have been a better word. After viewing the video, I agree. But it still does not explain the choice of "Oblama."

The connection between Obama and Osama is pretty clear to me. They are both paid agents of the Empire. Obama is pro-war. Osama's family has close ties to the Bush family. Osama could have been picked up many times but he was too valuable in creating a terrorist enemy. I'm not sure if he is indeed a black sheep of the family and if he is really paid by US for example but the circumstantial evidence is that he is used by the real terrorists, namely the international financial elite.

Obama and Osama are "pawns in their game." Now, if you think that Obama is in angel in disguise, and is just using his paymasters, until the right moment when he can reveal his real nature, then you have a right to that opinion and I respect that. You may be right. In that case, Obama will be a sort of Messiah come to save us. Whether, like JFK and so many others, he turns out to be a martyr also is yet to be seen.

As to LS's assertion that LTOR is a woman and we all know who she is, I can say that I for one do not know who she is and therefore do not know if she is actually a he. This is one of the drawbacks of the virtual world; it is difficult to make a reality check in the physical world. People can say anything and go by any name or sex in virtual land, a sort of make up your own world. If we all know who LTOR is, why doesn't LTOR use her real name?

As to the content of LTOR's post, I think it illustrates part of what I was saying in my post which preceded it. To save myself time and help create curiosity, I won't tell you what that is here.

I'm impressed with how powerful words are, particularly in modern technology which is quick as a wink. The names are secondary anyway; it's the information and energy that counts, the Messiah as MT says. I call her Lover or Love or Lovus. You have your own name. She uses all names and all games.

Prince Hal, made famous by Shakespeare, became England's greatest king because of war, just like his father. His son, on the other hand, was despised because he didn't like war. A good example of how screwed up our culture is. Falstaff saw through the hypocrisy because he was a hypocrite himself, and was rejected by his former so-called friend, Hal and the new King Henry V.

Dennis, I posted on why I choose to comment here with a moniker several times in the past. Unlike most people here on the OP - I grew up in Ojai. Most of the regulars here have been here less than 10 years. I actually became involved with the OP initially in the debate (and ensuing tension) between newbies and old-timers. Like I've said before, I lived a very full life here during adolescence, teenage years and beyond. I also have many life long friends and aquaintances who don't share my liberal politics so we simply agree to disagree. I didn't plan on being here for any length of time (this, at the time, being my first entry into the blogging world) so I quickly chose Long Time Ojai Resident. The last thing I wanted was for some ex-boyfriend or someone I dissed in High School or someone I did business with, etc. coming here and anonymously dissing me back decades later. (Again, I was very new to this and I was very hesitant). So, maybe the only ones who can understand are those people who also have been here "forever". It is a VERY small town!!! I admire Suza greatly for this very reason.

Posting anonymously or not, I try to be fair and charitable. I don't always succeed - as there are a few things that REALLY rile me up. A trip down Memory Lane for you: I posted my first harsh post towards you, if you recall, (after "listening" to you here for months) when you commented that the majority of Ojai was "unenlightened". Remember that? Otherwise, I wouldn't have been as rude as I was. Same with MT when he posted that he hadn't yet made up his mind about whether evan was "worthy" of his respect - or something to that effect that was unbelievably dismissive. Someone else got me riled up when they tried to intellectualize cruel behaviour towards fellow Ojai citizens during the immigration debate (using the clearly racist term "anchor baby). And a while back, it was Jock's ridiculous speculation that the US was under imminent attack because El Al wasn't flying one day (he failed to make the most basic of connections that it was a Jewish holiday!)

So, THOSE are the reasons I initially have responded with anger and ridicule towards the way you guys have in the past chosen to communicate with fellow posters - NOT as some of you keep persistantly claiming -that all of "us" are "uninformed" blind "sheeple" trying to censor your precious information. (Some of just keep thinking "Get over yourselves, already!)

There are ways to disagree here and have healthy debates and dialogue. The views of Brian Cox, for example, cause me to turn apoplectic (nearly every time he posts) but he rarely "crosses the line" and when he does, he is usually kidding or is just trying to get us Dems riled up. It is a fun give and take. (Same with SPK and I - who have had our share of heated differences of opinion) I haven't always found that to be the case with MT (though I still hold out hope), the "old" Dennis Leary and Jock. In other words, it is the combative, sanctimonious and self-righteous way that some of you continue to choose to communicate that creates the unending, broken-record of a problem - NOT the information that you are trying to get across. And it certainly isn't because the majority of Ojai Posters aren't intellectually equipped to understand or digest what it is you are trying to deliver.

Among the passengers of a large Boeing 757 airplane with "United States of America" printed on its fuselage were top members of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff and their counterparts from France, Germany and another country, possibly Great Britain, according to Barry DeFuria, a town of Harrietstown councilman and Airport Committee member who was there when the plane landed. A top military delegation from Italy flew in on a separate Falcon airplane, DeFuria said.

I get carried away for some reason when I write which very seldom happens in person. I believe that I compensate for my deficiencies in many areas by being aggressive in the safe area of writing. I especially like to hear from womem on this site. I get tired of hearing men, especially like myself with their big/small needy egos on parade. World Stocks Plunge As Recession Accelerates

London, 22 October 2008 -- Japanese shares have plunged more than 5% as awareness grew of the global recession.

Shortly after opening, the country's Nikkei stock index hit its lowest level in more than five years, shedding 658.08 points, or 7.59%, to 8,016.61.

By the lunch break, it recovered slightly and was down 5.52% to 8,195.74.

Share prices in Hong Kong and Australia were also down as the first markets opened following yesterday's mass sell-off on Wall Street.

The Dow Jones industrial index closed down 5.6% as the continued pressures of the credit crunch sparked panic-selling.

News that world dictators are to meet next month in Washington to discuss the global financial crisis failed to halt a plunge that began early on Wednesday and accelerated in late US trading.

In falls reminiscent of the worst of the turbulence of the past few weeks, European markets lost 4% to 5%, while the Dow closed down 509.83 points at 8,523.83.

In Brazil, regulators suspended trade on the Sao Paulo stock exchange after the main Bovespa index plunged more than 10%, reflecting chaos in fellow Latin American nation Argentina.

The White House announced that leaders of the Gang of 20 Rich and Emerging countries would gather in Washington on November 15.

It was part of efforts to co-ordinate responses to the worst staged financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

The announcement came as British Prime Minister Gordon Brown acknowledged his country was already entrenched in the international recession.

Crucial data is expected to show on Friday that the British economy shrank in the third quarter after zero growth in the second.

The technical definition of a recession is two straight quarters of negative economic growth.

A similarly gloomy assessment came in a forecast from the Swiss bank UBS which said Europe faced "inevitable" expanding recession which began "almost in sync" with the US.

The British pound plunged to a five-year trough but the euro also took a pummelling, falling to its lowest level for almost two years against the US dollar.

There were also more signs of trouble in the emerging markets, with South Africa's rand falling to a six-year low against the dollar.

When I see 'everyone' doing it, I always know it is wrong. Seeing that huge throng of folks worshiping Obama only makes it evermore clear to me that this is not a good thing. Dennis – I truly apologize if I hurt your feelings. I honestly didn’t mean to. Sometimes I shoot from the hip (or “the knees”) and regret it later. To be honest, I have become rather fond of you over the last year – and after a few of your past posts, have actually worried about you, hoping that you had a roof over your head or enough food to keep body, mind and spirit active and healthy.

MT – again, thank you for your direct response. I much prefer this sudden state of “semi-coherence”, and hope it lingers for a while :)... My main point is that choice of words and tone matter a great deal (for example, I too have questions about the creative license taken with the names of Kucinich and Obama and am also curious as what your intention is). But make no mistake - I have no problem with you expressing your views or trying to parlay information here. I disagree very strongly with much of it, but if you were to put a little effort into the way you choose to communicate (if it is indeed your intention to "speak" to those here other than the "choir"), it might be quite interesting and informative.

I am, for example, all ears when it comes to the Federal Reserve paradigm and the possibility that it may be a “scam” of historic proportions. I’m not necessarily predisposed to believe that straight out, but am interested in all the information and viewpoints out there. I know you think it all interconnected, but frankly, when this argument gets thrown into the great big anti-establishment mix with death-by-government-9/11-plot(s) and the inevitability of Martial Law, I tune out. Sorry, but that’s the way I feel, have an inkling a few other regulars feel the same – otherwise, you might have gotten a lot more traction here than you have.

However, there are a lot of other dire things to discuss and investigate rationally. For example, when most “experts” around the country admit that the visibility into the financial scene of 2009 onward is practically zero, I am somewhat concerned (and again, all ears) about the possibility of chaos and possible market collapse, the disruption of food production and/or distribution, the escalation of crime, severe homelessness and (most frightening) – a realignment of the world order that is not favorable to the US. To what degree certain things happen (or don’t happen) – who’s to say? One thing I am sure of: we have entered into a new era, a new reality. Some in this country are not going to know what hit them and we had all better face not just a different way of life in the very near future, but a different way of looking at everything in our daily lives from our daily consumption to reliance on credit to our ethnocentricity and naïve assumption that the “sun will never set” on our Empire.

Now, I’m not an alarmist or a “survivalist” who wants to run into the mountains and hunker down, but I am all for everyone being prepared and to finally start living as sustainably and responsibly as they can. You can contribute immensely to this with your expertise in gardening and living off the land. I wish you would spend more time and energy “enlightening” the rest of us about how this is not only possible, but a practical neccessity and even rewarding as well. With those kinds of posts, I promise to soak up every word!

P.S. And Dennis, when I talk about MT having a lot to share about living simply and close to the earth - I include you in this as well. There have been glimpses in your many varied posts about growing your own food and an ability to survive on more modest means than many of us are accustomed to. I find this whole concept well worth further and more in-depth discussion.

The stock market is falling. For some this is like the sky falling because they are losing money. Others are makng huge profits and they think it's a great opportunity to make a killing. The pace of world events is accelerating and there is going to be some kind of resolution, and soon. We are blessed to be living in challenging times.

This thread is interesting to me because it accesses some deep currents of knowledge. Obama is a mirror symbol, and if he becomes president will be even more so front and center in our awareness all the time, sort of like ancient kings. MT suggests that Obama is not what he seems and I tend to agree.

On the face of it something unusual is going on. A black man with a Muslim sounding name as president of the US. Astounding. A miracle some would say. A messiah others would observe. Others would deny there is anything unusual going on at all and might throw in the modern catch-all word evolution to explain it.

There are two broad ways of explaining reality. It just happens, like the big bang and then evolution, and then devolution back into some kind of black hole. Others think in interventionist terms, like a super intelligence or intelligences creating everything that happens, including evolution. I tend to the latter view.

This is relevant when it comes to the Obama phenomenon. Did he just happen or is he part of a planned operation, and if so, by whom? Depending on your mindset, you will be attracted to one or the other of these broad interpretations, or some other, or none at all.

Let's take 911 as a corollary example. From my reading, I believe it was a planned operation by men with extraordinary powers of intelligence and execution. I don't think it just happened according to the official story by a small group of amateurs. One odd fact has always stuck in my brain: why 911 of all days? 911 is the emergency number. Brilliant minds often have a sick sense of humor which sends a coded message of power which only insiders will understand. The inside job has an inside joke attached.

Make the connection now to Barrack Hussein Obama. A black man with a Muslim name as president of the US. Under ordinary circumstances, this is impossible; it would never just happen. But these are not ordinary times. Just look at the stock market for a barometer. What better way for the power intelligensia to send a coded message to insiders that masters can do whatever the hell they want and get away with it? As far as the people go, the masters are saying they can fool all of them all of the time.

Remember, the masters are not like us. They do not have to work, for example. They can spend all of their time with unlimited resources over many generations to plan what they want. This is work of course but it not the kind of work slaves have to do.

If the master planners can pick a candidate like Sarah Palin, why not Barrack Obama? It goes against the grain of expectation and sets up cognitive dissonance. But the real message is one of power. Someone is saying they will win no matter who is elected.

To most folks, this kind of thinking is utter nonsense. To them, Obama is a brilliant, idealistic, young politician who received his training on the streets of Chicago, and he wants to do good for the world. This is so because it is what they would do if they were Obama. To suggest that perhaps Obama, like Osama, is a double agent is incredible and not believable. Further, they think that anyone who suggests such nonsense is paranoid and racially prejudiced.

Of course, if you were one of the planners, you would have factored into your computers this type of reaction long ago. Mass manipulation by now is a science with proven results. People are prepared and programmed years in advance of their public appearances; it's called education.

I have a couple of acquaintances who appear to be on opposite sides of the philosophical/religious thought spectrum. Over the past three years, I have observed or interacted with them many times in the circles I run in. B is a Krishna devotee and Veda follower. J is a devotee of channelers and their sources, and a follower of more modern lines of metaphysical thought. I have participated with them. I enjoy their friendship and the communities they are part of.

I am bringing this in here because of the parallels between the political and spiritual worlds of thought. In other words, J and B are at loggerheads and Republicans and Democrats are the same. But are they really? Is there a difference and what is it? What is the connection between Osama and Obama? Is someone playing games with names?

At some point the confusion gets too much and we just shut down and turn off which is also factored into the computers of the master planners. The mind draws a line saying it can only hold so much information and will not consider any more. We adopt a mindset we can handle to prevent disintegration. We choose an authority to hold the confusion and disintegration at bay and so create a comfortable, psychic space to live in.

The Democrats have their mindset and the Republicans have theirs. J has his and B has his. So far so good. Problems arise because these mindsets are not stable and must continually be propped up with psychic energy. This is evident when they interact; there is a release of pent up energy, sometimes violent. There is also much at stake, to be won or lost, or there would not be the reactive responses upon the collisions.

A real problem arises when one mindset perceives that the other threatens its existence by questioning its premises or by an outright frontal attack. If the mind was really secure, it would not react to perceived danger, unless it believed there was a real danger to its existence.

In most circumstances there is no real danger except in the mind of the beholder. However, in other circumstances there is a real danger. If the immune system, for example, perceives that cancer cells pose a real and present danger to it and the whole system it is a part of, it swings into action. MT and Jock appear to perceive a real danger to our whole societal system; hence, there are threads like this.

Such alarms set off reactions in other minds which protect their investments by shutting off the alarms as alarmists. Mindsets have something to protect and well they should; that's their job. They also have to distinguish between a malignant threat and a benign one.

The common denominator is the mindset itself which is more or less unstable. Stability has to come from outside the unstable system. A connection is made with some kind of authority other than the mind. But the mind has to make the connection, unless it delegates is authority to some other agency, say the emotions. Regardless, the mind is always in the middle, even if it abrogates its own authority.

If it is true that there are super geniuses and some of these are evil and that they operate with their minds, and by extension with their computers, then how would you know that unless you used your own mind? Like knows like, assuming that you do not choose to shut down your mind on that issue.

At this point, I'm going to shut down and make breakfast. The mind after all won't work unless the body is fed, and the emotions get very upset if the body is not happy.

Breakfast was not what I expected. I took out a plastic bag of what I thought was whole spelt flour from Farmer and the Cook, intending to use part of it for raison and walnut bread and the other part for pancakes, without the raisons and walnuts. As I was stirring the batter, I thought it looked strangely yellow. Then I realized that I took the bag of masa. So I had masa pancakes with raisons and walnuts and will have bread later. I thought of having whole oats but that takes too long even by pressure cooker if I want them to be creamy. I was going to do barley but I didn't have enough. Quinoa didn't seem substantial enough.

My ex-wife and son have gone their separate ways yesterday and today so I can play all day with this, my son's computer. I'm really a hypocrite because I'm constantly nagging him about his excessive use. He's getting a call right now; that little annoying icon jumping up. I don't have a telephone or internet at all, and I feel so much freer. But what am I doing on this MacBook then? What comes to mind is spk and direct democracy; I mean here I am sitting at the kitchen table in the big house while other people are out doing real work. Given that I'm retired and I put my time into the system, but still.

That jumping jack icon is really getting annoying. How do I cancel it without losing this? I need my son but he's not here.

Where was I? Oh, yes. Direct Democracy which spk was talking about way back in the time of the infamous Monkey House Bush plays. I just read somewhere that a hundred million voters are purposely not voting this year. Wow, what a vote. Is it possible? So supposing I could vote with this computer. Thanks, LTOR. The fondness has become mutual. You really didn't hurt my feelings that much; more my ego by lumping me in with all those other "you guys." One of my many bi-polarisms is superior/inferior. I do have a roof over my head, actually a tarp but it's not what it seems. I live in a motor home parked on three acres on the northernmost tip of the Valley in the riverbottom, so Palin style I can see all you "guys" in the valley below. Since my ex-wife and son returned from Europe in mid-August, all three of us have been living in the 22 foot motor home so I choose to sleep outside alongside another trailer and under a tarp. It's actually very healthy. And I have the use of the main house for bathroom, cooking and wi-fi which I am doing now. I have this belief system that if I put myself into a government of love I will be taken care of, and so far it is proving correct. After alimony and child support, I live very well on less than $500 a month. If anything puts me back on the street in my motorhome, it will be dental bills, later if the dentist is in Ventura and sooner if he or she is in Ojai.

LTOR, you mentioned discussion about growing your own food. I remember being at a permaculture meeting this summer and going into my habitual rant about the group challenging the system as part of its program when Dulanie pointed out that growing your own food is a political statement. The truth of that has stayed with me.

When I came to this land last December, I just started to garden and I still don't know why. I'm not a gardener; more of a metafizzle as you can tell. My ex was a gardener, almost compulsive I would say and so whatever I know I learned from her. Anyway, I parked my motorhome and right next to it are a dozen or so dump loads of dirt and large stones from another site sitting on top of a foot deep level of wood chip compost from years of splitting and sawing firewood and that on top of a riverbed that used to be a river before it was diverted. If you can follow that, you're a better womam than I.

At the time I was reading about the womam focal culture that preceded patriarchy, goddess this and goddess that. So first thing, I built a goddess shrine, although I don't call it that because I don't like the word goddess. I built it between three of the mounds of dirt with a sitting area, fire place, water pot, partially open roof, stone walls about and the garden then sort of grew from that shrine.

Fortunately, with fall and winter coming I don't have to spend so much time in the garden and can spend time here. My main point is that the garden just sort of appeared in my life because of where my consciousness was. The garden is a teacher and when it appears so does the student, namely me. I don't think a garden has to be so extensive as mine; it could be just a pot or two and still be a teacher. It sure teaches me a lot along with its helpers, gophers, ground squirrels, owls, rabbits, frogs, snakes and others who also take to gardens.

From where I am I can see the evil gravel trucks grind their noisy way along the 33. It irritates me not so much because of the relatively rare noise but because they represent the type of civilization I dislike, sort of the opposite of a garden lifestyle. That too is a teacher; and then there's the domesticated dogs and cats which I dislike and so on. It's all learning.

The garden and the shrine in the garden are highly symbolic and sacramental for me; representing the Garden of Eve and much more. With an old talking head patriarch like myself it's important to get grounded in some other reality than what I naturally gravitate to. After awhile the garden gets personal, sort of like Love becomes the Lover and then Lovus. There's a change happening but I don't like to label it evolution because that's just another patriarchal mind game as far as I'm concerned. I've been part of the pat game so long I can see through it. It's more like the Grand Lover dancing in place; there's movement everywhich way but to linearize it into evolution is a hidden power trip with pat perks.

And then there's the practical side of how a garden actually feeds you. For months I have lived partially off of zucchini for example. You get to know the individual plants and how they give or don't in their own way. Same for tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, squash and so on. Grains are more difficult so I buy them but even there the garden helps with understanding. I buy whole grains and flour and I think of how some garden or field somewhere is giving this to me. It gets personal and I can feel it. I'm less dead from the neck on down than I used to be, and the garden has been instrumental in the change.

I got up at 5:30 this a.m. and came out under the stars and the moon. That too is getting personal. I can feel them sort of communicating. This sounds nuts but don't blame me; blame the garden. Gardens are a political threat to the system. That's why the patriarchal writers took the existing garden story and twisted it; put God in it and made Eve the culprit for all our ills. It's the same mind game that we're talking about on this thread. After awhile the threads form a tapestry. Like Dulanie said, gardens are political.

Gardens are also sexual. No wonder the patriarchs raged against them. Womem did nasty things in gardens, secret rituals, water rites, cleansings, even chanting. Imagine. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - At least 30 Chase bank offices in nine U.S. states have been targeted by threatening letters, many of them containing an unidentified powder, an FBI spokesman said on Tuesday.
At least five Chase branches in Colorado and Oklahoma received the letters on Monday and some contained a white powder, Chase had said.
"Today we're well over two dozen," FBI spokesman Rich Kolko said. "To the best of my knowledge they're all Chase." An FBI statement later said more than 30 letters were being investigated.
He declined to characterize the threats but said he was unaware of any connection to recent troubles in the U.S. financial system.
"At this point, field tests on the powder have been negative," for harmful substances, Kolko said. He said local laboratories will do more testing.
Chase spokesman Tom Kelly said there have been no injuries to bank employees or customers, and referred additional questions about the probe to the FBI.
The FBI, U.S. Postal Inspectors and local authorities are investigating the letters, he said. The letters have been received at branches in New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma, Colorado, Georgia and Texas.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The number of banks and other agencies reporting that they have received angry letters containing a powdery substance has risen to 45 in 11 states, and there could be more cases, FBI officials said Wednesday.
Officials said most of the powder-laced letters were sent to branches of JPMorgan Chase.
Wednesday's count is up from the 30 in eight states that were reported Tuesday.
The FBI, U.S. postal inspectors and state and local authorities are investigating, causing what FBI spokesman Richard Kolko called "a drain on resources" for those agencies.
"Even sending a hoax letter is a serious crime, and law enforcement will continue to work to identify and arrest those responsible," Kolko said in a statement. "The FBI and our law enforcement partners are following up on numerous leads, and if anyone has information, they are requested to contact the FBI, USPIS or local authorities."
Postal inspectors offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the conviction of those behind the hoax letters, which they said were mailed late last week.
As of Tuesday, financial institutions in New York, New Jersey, the District of Columbia, Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, Oklahoma, Georgia and Texas had been targeted by the letters. Wednesday, that list had grown to include Virginia, California and Arizona, the FBI reported.

In many cases, the banks themselves feigned unawareness of the nature or background of their own clients stating "most U.S. banks do not have adequate antimoney-laundering safeguards in place to screen and monitor such banks, and this problem is longstanding, widespread and ongoing" the report said.
The report was issued by the Democratic staff of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which has been studying so-called correspondent banking relationships for the past year. Such relationships allow foreign banks to establish accounts at U.S. banks, giving them access to the U.S. banking network. How much of the money that flows through those accounts is dirty or suspicious isn't known. But 12 offshore banks identified in the report have moved billions of dollars through U.S. correspondent accounts in the past several years.

THIS summer, when the Treasury secretary, Henry M. Paulson Jr., sought help navigating the Wall Street smeltdown, he turned to his old firm, Goldman Sachs, snagging a handful of former bankers and other experts in corporate takeover and looting.

Robert Rubin, right, an ex-Goldman co-chairman and a Treasury secretary in the Clinton administration, promoted Timothy F. Geithner at Treasury. Mr. Geithner now leads the New York Fed.

In September, after the government bailed out the American International Group, the faltering insurance giant, for $85 billion, 'Lord' Paulson helped select a director from Goldman’s own board to lead A.I.G.

And earlier this month, when Mr. Paulson needed someone to 'oversee' the government’s proposed $700 billion bailout fund, he again recruited someone with a Goldman pedigree, giving the post to a 35-year-old unsavory former investment banker who, before coming to the Treasury Department, had little background in housing finance.

Indeed, Goldman’s presence in the department and around the federal response to the financial crisis is so ubiquitous that other bankers and competitors have given the unassailable firm a new nickname: Government Sachs.

The power and influence that Goldman wields at the nexus of gangland politics and finance is no accident. Long regarded as the most cuthroat and most exulted firm among the ranks — now decimated — of Wall Street investment banks, it has a history and culture of encouraging its partners to take dominating roles in the public sector.

It is a widely held view within the bank that no matter how much money you pile up, you are not a true Goldman star until you make your killing in the government sphere. While Goldman promotes this as nothing more than giving back to the financial world, outside executives and analysts suggest criminal prosecution of thoses 'interests' presented by the firm’s unique perch.

These angry, threatening letters and the white powder sounds like a government operation; more stirring up of fear and preparation for possible military/police operations.

But I could be wroing. I just reread my previous post and realize that I am nuts, disconnected and schizophrenic. There's something wrong with me somewhere. Maybe it's what I see projected out there: the corruption in society. Corruption means literally rupture of the heart, or love.

I like this song by Dylan: "cocaine, cocaine, all around my brain." What I have been reading about apparently rubs off. I have never taken cocaine but can imagine its effects if it's like novocaine. It numbs which is the say I feel now. Sounds also like the effect master manipulators would achieve in society.

I read an article about "Messiah Oblama Bin Laughin..." just now which convinces me that its's time to opt out of the system. He is welcoming Colin Powell into the democratic fold. Colin is war criminal number two after Bush. Colin with his trustworthy reputation was the one that convinced Congress about the WMD in Iraq. Hence, he is partly responsible for one million dead and many more injured and homeless. What does that say about Obama?

When I get in these pickles, I go to my Lover. She's at least imaginary but has real effects upon me. I think of her, say her name, imagine her and so on. She is connected to the primal love culture of femina sapiens which preceded patriarchy and which patriarchy overthrew. In other words, I go into a different mode of thinking and feeling, using a different language, and it has a very different effect.

My previous post is dead, a good reflection of my participation in the patriarchic culture I have been so busy analyzing and opposing. I become like Colin Powell on a lower order of capacity; dead, except for the script he is required to repeat and the masters he must serve. They are dead too like the millions they have killed with their murder technologies. Along with the deadness of communication expressed above came an anxiety that all was not well. It used to last days but now it only took a couple of hours to change.

Love is my anti-cocaine all around my brain. It's corny but I change the words to "Love-pain, love-pain, all around my brain." You'd have to know the song. Love has a pain connected to it. I never heard it mentioned in all the medical, psychiatric and nursing diagnoses I dealt with but now I see it as my frequent visitor. Shakespeare described it in many places, and he probably experienced it deeply with his failed marriage and the death of his only son.

I think I'm reconnecting with the love culture that our species had for 150,000 years, and also with the loss of that culture with the rise of anti-love, patriarchy. Messiah Obama represents the pretense of that love, a really slick con. It's not just him; he's just a rep of millions like him. Therefore, this thread is quite appropriate for these type of comments. Messiahs are a male patriarchal creation for a problem they create.

Right now I'm feeling a deep sadness when thinking of the subject of this thread. I have been conned out of my birthright, to enjoy a loving life. Of course I chose it, and in the long run, it is used to further joy and love. The sadness is appropriate, particularly considering the billions who are victims of the system, much much worse than me, in this lifetime. I feel solidarity with their suffering, more so now that I know the cause.

Underneath the sadness is the joy, and I can feel that too. I can see both sides of the coin. The truth sets me free although not without pain. I much prefer the pain to the state reflected in my long post above. Words just don't do it; they most often stand in the way.

I used to go into the silence and medidate but that only works for me for a short time. I need to do both at the same time, sort of like a right-brained multiphasic womam in love with her Lover, knowing she is and isn't the object of her love, at the same time. That sort of blows the mental circuits which isn't a bad thing. It opens up space for the Lover to get a word in edgewise. She just told me again where it's at.

The work I have been doing for several years involves a metatechnology called 'Language Sculpting'. It is about 'creating coherent realities through the conscious use of language.'

Re the 42 Laws of Maat - the use of 'not's' as in 'I will not kill or bid others to kill' gives the very direct thoughtform of killing or bidding others to kill. You would have the outcome you want far better
by saying something like ' I will honour all life and encourage the same of others'. Clear picture, clear directive as to what you are wanting.

Further examples:
'I will be faithful to my companion/mate and respectful of others'; 'I will speak respectfully of others', 'I will take only my fair share of sustenance', 'I will be respectful of the trees, crops, fields and forests'; IV. 'I live in harmony and with respect for all life'; 'I will be respectful of the shrines of the dead';' I will keep my ears
open to the truth'; 'I will speak thoughtfully of others', 'I will be transparent in my actions and communications' and so on.

Please find a way to make use of these changes and language-sculpt the others.

Re #74, I am retired, and this is my job now, probing my own self in the context of a community of my peers for truth, which is necessary for love and justice. And I almost always also think this is a waste of time. Just a few hours ago I thought I would quit this blogging business and spend more time on the garden and getting my living space in order. But here I am again. Shows that what I think is relatively unimportant. Something else is going on.

Part 1 of Messiah Obama shows him ascending over the multitude which is assumed. Part 2 shows him before the multitude but walking off. A little while ago I had the thought that maybe is this collectivism which is so evil when out of balance. Every individual person is valuable and that is where the emphasis should be. If that were the case, we wouldn't allow the collective to bomb and kill individual womem and children for collective idealism.

When I stay with the experience of loving and being loved by the Lover all is well. This seems to be the stable core of existence for me. It is unity insofar as I am the Lover and duality insofar as we are two. As soon as I move into the collective which can be as small as two or three, trouble arises. Trouble is not necessarily bad; it is just a test for love.

I see there is another thread going strong now on Prop 8 which is about marriage. Marriage relates to that all important phenomena of relationships. I question the very nature of marriage which seems to be a patriarchal device about ownership. I don't have the time or interest to engage in another thread. This one has more juice for me but they are related.

I really do have to stop wasting so much time here. But I'm waiting for me barley to cook so I'll let this addiction have its way for awhile. I'd like to keep this thread going for while.

If every individual loved themselves as the Lover as the heart of reality, would there be any need for politics at all? I think not. Politics or rule by force arises then from lack of love. In fact, patriarchy arises from rejection of the love culture of femina sapiens which began with the creation of a single womam. One individual womam is the mother of species and of all of us.

The key element in this scenario is love. When real love is present, there is no need for collective politics ruling by force. There is a natural order based on love where each individual is honored and valued. When this natural system breaks down, trouble arises. My solution is to restore the natural order in myself.

Dennis, discussing the Amero is fair game because it is a "theorized" concept that does exist. Although, from what I gather it was conceived by a Canadian economist and isn't gettin' any love by US leaders (despite all the "articles" and hoaxes out there). Just use "The Google" and type in "Amero" and do some reading. HOWEVER, and here is a point that I have been trying to make for over a year here on the OP - take everything you read with a grain of salt initially, use your own "smell test" on some of this stuff, and always (ALWAYS!) consider the source. For example, maybe 4 or 5 links down on the Google search an article comes up by none other than Jerome Corsi - the same "journalist" who wrote the abominable Obama Nation - which we all know is filled with downright lies, distortions and ridiculous innuendos. I believe he was the same guy who was instrumental in the Swift Boating of John Kerry. He obviously is someone I wouldn't trust with the truth. Nor, obviously, Hal Turner who is a White Supremacist agitator who actually called for the death of a particular judge on some Fox News broadcast if I remember correctly, as well as a whole host of other unforgivable and despicable things. So, again, I know these things can seem credible at first glance if one is predisposed to believe the worst about our government and our political/economic system, but you must do so much more digging and when you come across these internet "articles", youtube videos, etc remember the old adage about skepticism being healthy....

Thanks, MT, for the above post on Messiah Osama Obama. I'm afraid I have misunderstood the idea behind the title. I gather from your most rescent message that you do like Obama and think he would be good for us to be president. I could be wrong again so I need feedback from this community of peers. LTOR has saved my intellectual assets more than once, the latest being over Turner and the Amero. For me, nothing beats the OP for being on top of things and uncovering the real news.

I woke up at 4 this morning. As usual after a good night's sleep I felt refreshed in body and soul. I had a dream which indicates why the change in energy. I often have dreams which seem very negative but which I interpret as a cleansing of the negativity. This one wasn't particularly negative but let it stand for what I think goes on in me.

In the dream I was painting a sort of wooden walkway a light color. A young girl about two years old was then going to paint other colors over it. Instead she took a comforter and painted that which was a naughty thing to do in my mind. I picked her up and carried her up this high precipice. I thought of spanking her but I didn't do that. I started to come down the cliff but it was very steep.

I interpret the dream to mean I have a two year old child in me who doesn't follow adult rules. The adult in me thinks this is a temper tantrum and acts accordingly. Upon reflection now I think perhaps the child was doing a creative thing and her art work would have actually been comforting.

Back to Osama-Obama the Messiah. Mt's link about the lawsuit is interesting. My own feeling about Obama is that he is a con man who has been conned himself by the money powers, or, he has made an agreement with them, or, he is a double agent to them and is conning them.

This lawsuit seems to have merit but then I am wary of my own gullibility. Perhaps LTOR will do some research and enlighten me. If the allegations of the suit are true, it fits my feeling that he is not truthful. Maybe he is following a higher law.

Regardless, Osama and Obama are on the same side as far as I am concerned. They are both patriarchal men who embody and support that value system. I do not although I have been raised in a patriarchal cult(ure). I am in recovery from my patriarchal addiction.

It would take me too far afield to analyze patriarchy here. Instead I want to dwell on its alternative. Fortunately, MT's work gives such an alternative in language and energy. Star has recently brought forward the concept of language sculpting and reframing the 42 laws of Maat. If the money=masters paradigm is to fall we need an alternative to fill the vacuum or we will end up with something worse, like a totalitarian new world order. Of course, some, even here, may think that's just fine as long as their lifestyle does not change that much. Such an attitude is anti-love for the billions who will be further crushed under the wheels of that system if they survive at all.

My two year old girl self has a different way of painting which arouses my indignation. Imagine painting on a blanket for God's sake!

She sees not a NWO but a LEO, a Lover Earth Order or a LEGO, a Love Earth Government Order. She's been trying to get through to me for a long time but I'm not a good listener. When I walked out under the sky this morning at 4:15 from my outdoor sleeping leanto to my motorhome and then to this big house, she was palpable in those awesome stars and invigorating air. As an adult, she is known to me as the Lover. I walked over to her shrine and gave her a kiss while transfixed by those overhead stars.

The Lover is the sine qua non of the Lover Earth Government. She is the ever present presence of love. She is no sentimental fancy but a living reality which patriarchy rebelled against and is now trying to kill off for good. There are power money and sex but the greatest of these is sex. What we are in the throes of today is a war, not of the sexes, but of one sex upon the other.

For almost 150,000 years the Lover governed with love. This herstory has by now been almost totally obliterated from consciousness by his-story. You can read this story in the ancient archeological art and between the lines of the patriarchal rewrites. It is no made up fancy; it is down to earth fact. Patriarchy, which we assume as fact, is a lie, the big lie that Hitler made fashionable.

The Lover Government can be acessed through her language which is a link of love and through simple practices, of which the laws of Maat would be an instance. There are three ways mainly to reconnect with this original government of our species, femina sapiens.

1. Language. Words are metaphors which point the way to realities. If you want to know the Lover, use her names. MT has cited many of them, even Messiah. However, to distinguish the Lover from patriarchal messiahs like Obama-Osama, I would spell the word: Messia to give it a feminine flavor. Many feminine names end in a.

The Lover is primarily feminine and secondarily male. It is important to get the natural order of the sexes right, and not to be fooled by the patriarchal con of equality of the sexes which is pushed for money reasons.

2. Food. Language of course is a type of food, as in the maxim: you are what you eat and food for (of) thought. The Love Government is referring to earth food. For us, the Lover is primarily Mother Earth and secondarily Father Heaven. Again, as a femina sapiens species, it is vital to get the order correct. Patriarchal sky gods are weapons of mass distraction from the earth and eventually turn into weapons of mass distruction.

If you want to know the Lover, eat her food and metaphorically eat her body and drink her blood. This rewrite of her primal language culture shows up in one of the patriarchal religious traditions. Language is not just using words but know-feeling their metaphorical energy or sacramentalism.

In practice this means eating food directly connected to the earth: grains, fruit, nuts, roots, berries, flowers, herbs, water, etc. in their most natural, organic condition. Avoid as much as possible animals and animal products and overly processed, refrigerated and even packaged food. In short, connect with the Earth Lover by sacramentally eating her by eating her earth food, and avoiding patriarkil food.

3. Freedom. All of us are in a patriarchal prison and we don't know the half of it. For example, we think there really is a difference between Osama and Obama. Freedom comes when you are able to make distinctions, to tell the difference between this and that. If you can't, your education has been sadly neglected and you will be confused, literally fused together. In Latin, bene distinguere, bene discere; to distinguish well is to learn well.

Our species is distinguished from others by our nature which is femina sapiens. This happened about one hundred fifty thousand years ago in East Africa with the appearance of Mitochondrial Eve, African Eve or Eve of the Garden, the common mother of us all. We are grafted onto animal stock but we are not the same anymore.

If we are to maintain our distinction and not extinguish ourselves as a species, we must free ourselves from animals and free animals from ourselves. Otherwise we will kill the earth and thereby ourselves and take the animals with us. This is not hard to swallow in regards to animal abuse but it is when it comes to the common practice of keeping pets. In our neurotic need for love from any source, we domesticate and enslave animals.

As femina sapiens, we arose within the context of the animal kingdom. Our closest cousins, the hominids, were all around. But we were differennt. The Lover incarnated as us in a new way. The patriarchal god traditions took this event later and made incarnation dogmas for their new world order. They revolted against the Lover Government. They returned to their hominid roots and went back to killing and eating animals, making pets of them and soon doing the same to femina sapiens womem and now the earth herself. They invented God, homo sapiens, the myth of the Great Hunter and Warrior and thousands of other spin-offs. Their NWO is a huge con; it is actually the old world order of the hominids.

"Know Yourself" was an ancient directive of the primal love government. It appeared later on ancient temples. It was a distinguishing mark. It is still relevant. If we do not know who we are, we enter into confusion and "Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war." War is the distinguishing mark of the beast of patriarchy which took a malignant turn in its rebellion against the love order about six thousand years ago. In that regard, the patriarchs of the bible are telling the truth: their new world order really was created about six thousand years prior to his-story.

Mt talks about the great restoration that is happening now. That's what this thread of thought is about. The Lover is moving, as if awakening from slumber. She also is male patriarchy and female matriarchy; and allows it because love necessitates freedom, and precisely for the joy of recovery. The Osama-Obama phenomenon is also her in her own turning recovery because she is us with a reference to US politically.

To the three practices outlined above I would add a fourth, something like the 42 laws of Maat. Law is a somewhat problematic word, as are all words because word technology was co-opted by patriarchy. A sapiens womam would not sit here typing on this machine but would rather sit out under the stars, watch the sun come up, while nursing her baby, grinding grain and talking to the free wild animals about her. She after all was the Lover whose shrine she frequented to remind herself of who she was.

Perhaps she had a foreboding of the patriarchal order that was coming; signs of the war on the earth, animals and herself. Perhaps she held her baby tighter with that thought, and had a premonition of billions of her sisters and their children, crushed under the boot heels of that regime.

I feel her sadness as I sit in this still dark room. But a cock is crowing, birds are chirping and the sun's first gray rays are appearing over Ojai.

I just walked outside. A pink moment is in the eastern sky. A crescent moon hangs above. The Lover and her government are very much present. You know what a pink moment is, of course. It refers to womam's blood which in the primordial love culture was an occasion of celebration; and now under patriarchal rule (archy) a source of embarrassment.

How ironic that Ojai is known for her pink moments with a name that means moon and more recently valley and nest, all the language of femina sapiens. Blood and water is the femina sap that flows from the Lover's body. This was rewritten by patriarch religious his-story in the Jesus metanarrative. Male writers took what they heard their mothers and wives say and made a Jesus story with a male political spin.

They made Jesus say: "If you thirst, drink of me; from my belly flow rivers of living water." The male Jesus came from the feminine She'sus. Belly is euphemism for vulva. Water is a nice way of saying menstrual blood and watery ejaculate. China approves more regulation of the global financial system by 43 Nations at the Summit of ASEM World Leaders.

Premier Wen Jiabao told the summit of 43 nations that much more control was needed to ensure world economic safety.

The leaders are meeting for a second day in Beijing to discuss the task of managing the Gangster West and propping up the global financial markets.

The accelerating worldwide recession have given an increased sense of urgency to the ASEM summit.

Wen said: "We need to draw lessons now from this crisis.

"We need to handle correctly the relationship between financial innovation and regulation.

"We need financial innovation to serve the economy better, however we need even more financial regulations to ensure financial safety."

The Chinese leader also said that his nation would take part in the Washington DC gangland financial summit in November.

The talks at the ASEM Summit follow another turbulent day on Wall Street, and a difficult end to the week's trading on the European and Asian markets.

Leaders of the 27 EU member states and 16 Asian countries have pledged cooperation to tackle the financial crisis by taking "firm, decisive and effective measures in a responsible and timely manner".

As the meeting was going on, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown defended his mis-handling of the financial crisis while battling in a by-election in Scotland.

He said: "We have got to deal with that problem" - a problem he claimed the Crown did not know about -- "that started in America but a problem we have to deal with."

"I think people will look at all the manipulations the Crown has staged which have mis-led the world", responded US Presidential Candidate Ron Paul.

Dennis, regarding my comment about the birth certificate issue, I just meant that like many, I will be on tenterhooks until Obama wins the election. The Republican Machine has proven to be far too successful in using all sorts of illegal and immoral contrivances to keep hold of the Oval Office...collectively, I think many of us are just holding our breaths hoping there will be no October Surprises in store for us. With so little time left to go, with Obama enjoying such a huge lead, and with so many Republicans jumping off the McCain ship to either save their own careers or to simply face reality when it's staring them in the face, my brain tells me we will be looking at a President Obama very soon. However, every time I hear murmurs of this birth certificate issue, I admit to getting a huge irrational lump in my stomach. I, like everyone else, will just be glad when it's over.

It seems like a century ago now, but it was only in 2005 that a National Journal poll of Beltway insiders predicted that George Allen, then a popular Virginia senator, would be the next G.O.P. nominee for president. George who? Allen is now remembered, if at all, as a punch line. But any post-mortem of the Great Republican Collapse of 2008 must circle back to the not-so-funny thing that happened on his way to the White House.

That would be in 2006, when he capsized his own shoo-in re-election race by calling a 20-year-old Indian-American “macaca” before a white audience (and a video camera). “Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia,” Allen told the young Democratic campaign worker for good measure, in a precise preview of the playbook that has led John McCain and Sarah Palin to their tawdry nadir two years later.

It wasn’t just Allen’s lame racial joke or his cluelessness about 21st-century media like YouTube that made him a harbinger of the current G.O.P. fiasco. It was most of all the national vision he set forth: There are Real Americans, and there are the Others.

The Real are the small-town white folks Allen was addressing in southwestern Virginia. The Others — and their subversive fellow travelers, the Elites — are Americans like the young man who Allen maligned: a high-achieving son of immigrant parents who was born and raised in Washington’s Northern Virginia suburbs during its technology boom. (Allen, the self-appointed keeper of real Virginia, grew up in California.)

Cut to 2008. You’d think that this incident would be a cautionary tale, but the McCain campaign instead embraced Allen as a role model, with Palin’s odes to “real” and “pro-America” America leading the charge. The farcical apotheosis of this strategy arrived last weekend, again on camera and again in Virginia, when a McCain adviser, Nancy Pfotenhauer, revived Allen’s original script, literally, during an interview on MSNBC.

After dismissing the Northern Virginia suburbs, she asserted that the “real Virginia” — the part of the state “more Southern in nature” — will prove “very responsive” to the McCain message. All Pfotenhauer left out was “macaca,” but with McCain calling Barack Obama’s tax plan “welfare” and campaign surrogates (including the robo-calling Rudy Giuliani) linking the Democrat to violent, Willie Horton-like criminality, that would have been redundant.

We don’t know yet if McCain will go the way of Allen in a state that hasn’t voted for a Democratic president since 1964, when L.B.J. vanquished another Arizona Republican in a landslide. But we do know that Obama swept like a conquering hero through Richmond, the former capital of the Confederacy, last week and that he leads in every recent Virginia poll.

There are at least two larger national lessons to be learned from what is likely to be the last gasp of Allen-McCain-Palin politics in 2008. The first, and easy one, is that Republican leaders have no idea what “real America” is. In the eight years since the first Bush-Cheney convention pledged inclusiveness and showcased Colin Powell as its opening-night speaker, the G.O.P. has terminally alienated black Americans (Powell himself now included), immigrant Americans (including the Hispanics who once gave Bush-Cheney as much as 44 percent of their votes) and the extended families of gay Americans (Palin has now revived a constitutional crusade against same-sex marriage). Subtract all those players from the actual America, and you don’t have enough of a bench to field a junior varsity volleyball team, let alone a serious campaign for the Electoral College.

But the other, less noticed lesson of the year has to do with the white people the McCain campaign has been pandering to. As we saw first in the Democratic primary results and see now in the widespread revulsion at the McCain-Palin tactics, white Americans are not remotely the bigots the G.O.P. would have us believe. Just because a campaign trades in racism doesn’t mean that the country is racist. It’s past time to come to the unfairly maligned white America’s defense.

That includes acknowledging that the so-called liberal media, among their other failures this year, have helped ratchet up this election cycle’s prevailing antiwhite bias. Ever since Obama declared his candidacy, the press’s default setting has been to ominously intone that “in the privacy of the voting booth” ignorant, backward whites will never vote for a black man.

A leading vehicle for this journalistic mind-set has been the unending obsession with “the Bradley effect” — as if nothing has changed in America since 1982, when some polls (possibly for reasons having nothing to do with race) predicted erroneously that a black candidate, Tom Bradley, would win the California governorship. In 2008, there is, if anything, more evidence of a reverse Bradley effect — Obama’s primary vote totals more often exceeded those in the final polls than not — but poor old Bradley keeps being flogged anyway.

So do all those deer hunters in western Pennsylvania. Once Hillary Clinton whipped Obama in the Rust Belt, it’s been a bloviation staple (echoing the Clinton camp’s line) that a black guy is doomed among Reagan Democrats, Joe Sixpacks, rednecks, Joe the Plumbers or whichever condescending term you want to choose. (Clinton at one low point settled on “hard-working Americans, white Americans.”) Michigan in particular was repeatedly said to be slipping out of the Democrats’ reach because of incorrigible racism — until McCain abandoned it as hopeless this month in the face of a double-digit Obama lead.

The constant tide of anthropological articles and television reports set in blue-collar diners, bars and bowling alleys have hyped this racial theory of the race. So did the rampant misreading of primary-season exit polls. On cable TV and the Sunday network shows, there was endless chewing over the internal numbers in the Clinton victories. It was doomsday news for Obama, for instance, that some 12 percent of white Democratic primary voters in Pennsylvania said race was a factor in their choice and three-quarters of them voted for Clinton. Ipso facto — and despite the absence of any credible empirical evidence — these Clinton voters would either stay home or flock to McCain in November.

The McCain campaign is so dumb that it bought into the press’s confirmation of its own prejudices. Even though registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by 1.2 million in Pennsylvania (more than double the 2004 gap), even though Obama leads by double digits in almost every recent Pennsylvania poll and even though no national Republican ticket has won there since 1988, McCain started pouring his dwindling resources into the state this month. When the Democratic Representative John Murtha described his own western Pennsylvania district as a “racist area,” McCain feigned outrage and put down even more chips on the race card, calling the region the “most patriotic, most God-loving” part of America.

Well, there are racists in western Pennsylvania, as there are in most pockets of our country. But despite the months-long drumbeat of punditry to the contrary, there are not and have never been enough racists in 2008 to flip this election. In the latest New York Times/CBS News and Pew national polls, Obama is now pulling even with McCain among white men, a feat accomplished by no Democratic presidential candidate in three decades, Bill Clinton included. The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey finds age doing more damage to McCain than race to Obama.

Nor is America’s remaining racism all that it once was, or that the McCain camp has been hoping for it to be. There are even “racists for Obama,” as Politico labels the phenomenon: White Americans whose distrust of black people in general crumbles when they actually get to know specific black people, including a presidential candidate who extends a genuine helping hand in a time of national crisis.

The original “racist for Obama,” after all, was none other than Obama’s own white, Kansas-raised grandmother, the gravely ill Madelyn Dunham, whom he visited in Hawaii on Friday. In “Dreams From My Father,” Obama wrote of how shaken he was when he learned of her overwhelming fear of black men on the street. But he weighed that reality against his unshakeable love for her and hers for him, and he got past it.

When Obama cited her in his speech on race last spring, the right immediately accused him of “throwing his grandmother under the bus.” But Obama’s critics were merely projecting their own racial hang-ups. He still loves his grandmother. He was merely speaking candidly and generously — like an adult — about the strange, complex and ever-changing racial dynamics of America. He hit a chord because many of us have had white relatives of our own like his, and we, too, see them in full and often love them anyway.

Such human nuances are lost on conservative warriors of the Allen-McCain-Palin ilk. They see all Americans as only white or black, as either us or them. The dirty little secret of such divisive politicians has always been that their rage toward the Others is exceeded only by their cynical conviction that Real Americans are a benighted bunch of easily manipulated bigots. This seems to be the election year when voters in most of our myriad Americas are figuring that out.
