Ojai Day 2008 Event features newly expanded Teen Area in Libbey Bowl
With just a few days ahead until Ojai Day 2008, event organizers have announced plans for a newly expanded teen area that has grown so much over the past few years that it has been relocated to the grassy area adjacent to Libbey Bowl.
A few of the new features added to the Ojai Day Teen Area this year include live music, a dunk tank with local school teachers taking the plunge, a foosball tournament, a Pogo Stick competition, and much more.
“Over the past couple of years Sheryl Whipple has done an amazing job putting together a teen area that has grown so much – we had to move it,” said Ojai Day Director Jody James. “She has managed to reach out to all sorts of local teen groups and drawn them in to participate.”
Working closely with the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation, Whipple has brought in an even larger teen base, James noted. The Youth Foundation will be selling pizza and sodas and the teen area will be rocking with regional musical favorites Emy Reynolds, Dreamcolour, the Matilija Junior High School Jazz Band, and the Nordhoff High School Cheerleaders. And Ventura radio station Q104.7 will also be on hand from 2-4 p.m. playing even more great music.
Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 18, Ojai Day is the premier annual downtown street fair hosted by the Ojai Recreation Department. The ultimate in local cultural events, Ojai Day brings together virtually all aspects of the best of Ojai including: art, food, spiritual incantations, multi-ethnic celebrations and good old fashion fun and games.
