DIVIDE AND CONQUER? Seems strange this is the same date and nearly the same time (7:30PM vs. 7:00PM) as the School Board Meeting. Hummmm.

Here's a copy of an email announcing this special meeting. I asked the sender how can we attend a 7pm and 7:30 pm meeting on the same night, at two different locations? Can anyone clarify this?

Hi everyone,
Together we have accomplished so much in a short amount of time. It's been a pleasure to meet such a great group of local people who all share the same passion for the children of Ojai.

Together we all raised the money needed to build the in-ground, concrete skate park in it's current location. But, the skate park still needs your help.

Please bring yourself, your children and anyone you know that wants to see the skate park built to a special meeting with the Ojai City Council.

This meeting is only about the Skate Park Project. This is a very important meeting!
Let's make sure everyone understands the importance of building the skate park as soon as possible and by experienced, professional skate park designers and builders. Let's make the best skate park that we can get for $361,000.00. Let's fill the room with supporters!

This special meeting of the City Council is on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 7:30 pm in the Ojai Council Chambers (located at City Hall) to discuss the Skate Park Project. The meeting will begin at 7:30 pm.

At the same time, Tuesday, August 19th. At 7:00pm. There is a Ojai school board meeting. We encourage you to go to this as well.

Check out the Ojai Post's Skate Park Thread when you get a chance.

Thanks you for all the support and efforts! The kids really appreciate it.

Here is the reply I received to the question as to how we can attend both meetings:

We can't and that's unfortunate timing. We didn't have anything to do with the organizing of the meeting with the city council, just the request to have one.

So, it will be up to us to each of us to figure out which one to attend.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for asking,
Sunday

My natural response to this was:

Is the City Council aware of the conflict? You have every right to point this out to them and request another time.

It is my understanding that the OUSD Board agenda will not be set until tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon. However, I was told it is unlikely that the skate park will be an item on the School Board's 8/19 agenda.

Thank you, Rae, for your helpful response.

It will be interesting to see if any issues related to the location of the skate park are on the 8/19 agenda.

Here's a link to many other comments about the skate park in case any one reading this missed them:

The agenda for the joint Planning Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, and Ojai City Council meeting has been released.

If this issue is important to you, please try attending this meeting on Tuesday evening.
