Gravel Truck Accident on Highway 33

by Tyler Suchman on July 10, 2008

I’ve gotten word of a major overturn, spill and gravel truck accident on Route 33 north of Ojai.
Ventura County Star reports a “semi-truck crash” causing closure of Highway 33 near the northern Ventura County border, just south of Ventucopa in Santa Barbara County.
UPDATE 8:23pm: OVN posted this photo with a description of what happened to Ozena Gravel Mine truck driver Eric Aguilar’s trailer.

Mr.Suchman, when are you and Howard ever going to get the facts correct? Ozena mine owns no trucks, they are sub-hualers for a different company. You do not bother to mention what the cause of the accident, how one sided can you be.

Hi Wally -
I simply reported a story and linked to two local media sources, the latter Ojai Valley News story referring to an “Ozena Gravel Mine truck driver”.
I don’t know what the cause of the accident is, other than what OVN reported, which was that the trailer “appeared to have struck something on the side of the road before swinging and flipping over.”
If any of that information is incorrect, such as the driver’s company affiliation, or the fact that the trailer struck something on the side of the road before swinging and flipping over, then hopefully it will be corrected in the local media, and I’ll link to those sources.
Thanks for your observations.
Tyler
