I spent Saturday evening at Glow, an all-night party on the Santa Monica pier featuring installation art and music by KCRW djs.
Cool concept, but I don’t know if they imagined the size of the crowd – truly overwhelming. Two features stood out for me: an orchestra in a ferris wheel (sadly hard to hear over the roller coaster, the bad 80s music, and Whack-a-Mole right nearby) and a telescope/EEG – put the EEG device on your head, look through the telescope at the light and crowd, and a light panel wrapped around the telescope displays an artistic rendering of your brain waves. The line for that was at least 30 people long, with each of them looking for about 5 minutes – I didn’t wait. But the idea was fabulous!

When I first saw this Post I vaguely remembered hearing about Alex Grey back in the late 60′s or 70′s. Today I looked him up in Wikipedia and all sorts of memories came tumbling back. His biography and philosophy is so interesting ! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Grey

Thanks for these glimpses of LA night life … how progressive that they served a raw vegan meal. That in itself is visionary!
Wish more Ojai events offered vegan food.

Per an email request, the last photo is Saber, a rather infamous graffiti artist. If you look above his canvas, you can see Allyson Grey's in-progress artwork from behind, Alex Grey just visible to the left and in the background is an Alex Grey tapestry on loan from the band Tool's live performance.
