On the heels of evan’s Peacemaker post, I’ll flip the coin and share a local political story that has received some coverage. Joel Angeles, the chief of staff for Assemblywoman Audra Strickland (R-Moorpark) was placed on a one month leave of absence for getting involved in a physical altercation with Democratic protestors outside a Thousand Oaks gathering for Audra’s husband Tony Strickland who is running for the 19th District Senate seat.
Angeles was with the GOP protestors, holding a sign calling Tony Strickland’s opponent, Hannah-Beth Jackson, a hypocrite. The groups didn’t have separation and some pushing and shoving occurred. While no charges were filed, and my guess is that this blows over in a hurry, what is a candidate’s chief of staff doing putting himself in a position like that?
