Open Thread: Class Reunion Edition
The Nordhoff High School graduating class of 1998 had its 10-year reunion this past weekend at Soule Park Golf Course's restaurant/bar. Through the beer and crazy-loud 90's music, i actually had a pretty decent time and saw a few people that made it worth going. i wasn't "popular" in high school (you may all gasp in disbelief collectively) so while i knew who most of the people at the reunion ARE, i didn't actually KNOW them...nor they me. it made for a few hours of coexisting but not interacting. curious, and slightly uncomfortable. When the bar quit serving alcohol at midnight, the reunion spilled out into surrounding drinkeries that were still open...at 2:30am (on my way home after picking up Noa from Grammy's house) i saw police cars, a fire truck, and an ambulance outside The Hub. Good times, Class of '98.
Anyone have any good class reunion memories?

I most certainly do - and if you could only see the huge grin on my face right now....

I'm glad that you actually went to your reunion, and I hope that you continue to go to future ones as well. I only went to one of mine in 05, for my 30 year reunion. We all met at Soule park Bar/Restaurant. Few of us were eating, most were chugging down as only Class of '75' can do. I had a great time, and there were a few awkward moments but plowed through the drinks and the friends as we did in Ojai in "the day".
Figuring that we didn't want the party to end, the following night, we all met at Boccali's for dinner, and more drinks. The pace, the noise, the whole rhythm of the night was different, but good.
Probably everyone sees their class as something special, I'm no different, we had some amaising people that came out of my class, some of whom I'm pleased to still have contact with.

on the plus side, i've noticed that whatever social illusions kept me from interacting with certain people or groups in high school has somewhat dissolved, leaving me able to connect with classmates with whom i now have more in common than i did then (we now have jobs, kids, have attended college, etc)

I have to say, your picture reminds me of your dad and uncle. I really liked them back in school, they were good guys.
I really thought others would chime in with accounts of reunions and stories of their days of Bravado, or how they found themselves more at ease with themselves and former classmates post graduation. Where have the story tellers gone?(forgive my miss-spelling of amazing in my previous post above. I always get that one wrong. I try to show respect for others here by being accurate in my spelling}

thanks, Dana! you knew my dad and uncle in high school, huh? they're both still great guys.
i'm with you: frankly i thought that lots of folks would have stories and insights to share. where have all the storytellers gone, indeed?
