To all the Volunteers, Board members and Staff – Thank you for coming to the first Volunteer Party of the 9th Annual Ojai Film Festival season. It was fun to see everyone and, given some unsettling 2007 volunteer experiences, we are happy to have you back. We will work as a team to make this year exciting and rewarding for everyone involved.
Twenty three returning volunteers, some new this year, Board members, their significant others, and staff watched a short Santa Barbara Volunteer training film. Board member, Steve Grumette shared a little of the history of the Film Festival’s first 8 years. Board Chairman, David Shor said this year’s Festival which takes place November 6th through the 9th is proud to have Malcolm McDowell as host of the Ojai Film Festival’s first Golf Classic the morning of November 6th at the Ojai Valley Inn. In fact, the Inn is host for this year’s Festival and we are expecting a wonderful turnout to celebrate Lifetime Achievement Award honorees, Ray Bradbury and the producing team of Richard Donner and Lauren Shuler Donner. The Crown Plaza as well as the Ojai Valley Inn is offering hotel and film festival passes as a package. Golf can be sold as part of the package.
Advance Passes are now on sale through July 15th with a great deal – If someone buys two passes, the second one is 50% of its normal cost. You can call the office number 805 / 640 1947 if you want to buy them or know someone who does.
New volunteer applications were given out and pictures taken for the 2008 volunteer badges. Currently the Director of Communications, Mo McFadden, is also serving as Executive Director. Mo’s PR assistant, Victoria Sanchez was introduced.
On April 18 a few volunteers are needed to assemble sponsorship brochures and if any volunteers have expertise in inserting pictures in a newsletter like this…boy could I use your help! My house is at 917 Patricia Court in Ojai. Just email me if you think you might come at vlbonwry@aol.com.
A Volunteer Advisory Committee has been formed and will meet more frequently to take care of the myriad details before our next all volunteer meeting. Advisory Committee members are Brossy Reina, Jackie Clark, Connie Campbell, Noel Douglas and Demitri Corbin…and me, Vicki Baldwin.
