Hey, Comments 1 and 2 - who cares what the guy is doing? I could put on a clown wig and ride a bigwheel on that ramp - the goal is to get the Ojai Skate Park up and running. My wee ones are future loitering teenagers and I want that skate park in place for teenagers present and future!

Can someone tell me what a skate park has to do with the green movement? I cannot see anything environmentally friendly on cementing a piece of land. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for a skate park in Ojai – just not right in the center of town. Move it a couple of blocks more east.
Also a skate park is only appealing to a small group of the youth in Ojai. Maybe all this money would be better spend in a project that attracts all youth of Ojai – like a public pool, reopen the bowling center, …

I like the sk8 park right where it is -- right in the center of town. (But then, I like just about anything that irritates the Gentrification Squad.)

Hi my name is Sunday and my husband and I have 3 children, 19, 17 and 9 years old. Our family is loves skateboarding and surfing. So volunteering my time to help build a new in-ground concrete skateboard just makes sense. I don't get excited about football, tennis or soccer but if a group of grandparents, parents, local business owners and kids in Ojai wanted to raise money and awarness for the need to have a safer space for them to be active and enjoy the sport they love I would support them 100%. We have over 13 million skateboarders in the United States and when I had to print the flyers for our upcoming event, I had to print 3000 so that every child would receive one, public and private Ojai schools. That's a lot of kids! The skatepark will be a beautiful new space for all kids to enjoy. By leaving it right where it is Ojai sends a message that it cares about kids. I also agree that we need a community swimming pool, but the funds we have raised are for a skatepark. I would love to make the swimming pool my next grassroots effort for the families of Ojai. Come on down to the event this upcoming Saturday at the skate park. We will have an information booth with SKATE OJAI members that can answer all your questions and you will be able to meet hundreds of fellow Ojai folks that think a skate park would be a great addition to the many physical activites that we offer the youth of Ojai. See you then!
