Ojai's Alive Arts & Music Festival
Here's a press release I just put together for some great seniors at Besant Hill School (Happy Valley)
HAPPY VALLEY SENIORS LEAVE LEGACY OF MUSIC & ART
For high school seniors graduating this spring from Besant Hill School of Happy Valley, part of the requirements for receiving a diploma is completing a final project.
Three of these students, Dar Naghshineh, Dylan Keenen, and Madeline O’Connor, are organizing a fund-raising event at the Upper Ojai campus that will bring together music, art and food for an afternoon of free entertainment.
Ojai’s Alive Art & Music Festival, on May 18 from 4 p.m.—10 p.m., is a free event that will include an art gallery featuring work from students and other area artists for sale; a raffle, bake sale, custom t-shirts, Kettle Corn and an impressive line-up of musical artists. Musicians from the community will include April Hendrix, Jonathan McEuen, Suzanne Paris and others.
“We wanted to do something different than the typical final project that so many seniors do,” Naghshineh said. “Ojai’s Alive is a project that showcases student and community artists and musicians while benefiting the global community. And it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Funds raised from the event will benefit the Common Ground Relief organization which is rebuilding homes in New Orleans, and Amnesty International.
The event will take place at the Besant Hill School and its Zalk Theater, 8585 Ojai-Santa Paula Road. For more information e-mail: lionststringband@yahoo.com.
