Ojai Earth Day 2008

Had a wonderful time out at Ojai Earth Day. Thank you to everyone who worked very hard on this community event at Oak Grove School. As a member of the Ojai Valley Green Coalition, it was great to talk with so many people willing to make a difference in Ojai Valley. Share your Earth Day experience.

Message to Suza, evan, Tyler, Kenley and all the other OP authors too numerous to mention here:
You know, I just have to say that I often don’t comment unless I’m in disagreement with something written or have something additional to add. This probably stems from the fact that I tire of all those blogs out there where commenters take up way too much space with “I couldn’t agree more” or “LOL” followed by all those goofy emoticons.
But I would like to say here how much I appreciate all of your wonderful entries and your unflinching and unyielding dedication to a thoughtful, intelligent and compassionate low-impact lifestyle.
I learn so much and continue to be inspired by all of you and by all of those taking the time to weigh in with their comments.

The new Executive Coordinator of the Ojai Valley Green Coalition, Deborah Pendrey, was the driving force behind the EarthDay Eco Treasure Hunt and the Action Committee booths. It's truly amazing to see all that has been accomplished by the Green Coaltion is just seven short months since their first big organizational meeting where 125 people showed up to volunteer. It's evidence of an environmental idea whose time is urgently now. With this kind of great leadership, the best is yet to come.

"It may seem curious to some that the survival of a relatively small number of three-inch fish among all the countless millions of species extant would require the permanent halting of a virtually completed dam for which Congress has expended more than $100 million... we conclude, however, that the explicit provisions of the Endangered Species Act require precisely that result."
- Chief Justice Berger, United States Supreme Court in TVA v. Hill (1978).
