Serving a Karmic Debt

via Yahoo/AFP: Ex Shell chairman calls for gas guzzler ban.
(emphasis mine below)

The former chairman of Anglo-Dutch oil giant Shell has called on the European Union to ban gas-guzzling cars, saying they are unnecessary, the BBC reported Monday.

"Nobody needs a car that does 10-15 mpg (miles per gallon, 19-28 litres per 100 kilometres)," Mark Moody-Stuart was quoted as saying.

"We need very tough regulation saying that you can't drive or build something less than a certain standard. You would be allowed to drive an Aston Martin -- but only if it did 50-60 mpg."

Moody-Stuart, who is currently chairman of mining group Anglo American, added that the EU was too lax with motor manufacturers and insisted that wealthier people must play their part in tackling climate change.

these Oil moguls ARE 'Moody' aren't they!

and 'Stuarts' too ...

Millenium -- your sense of humor is about on a par with your poetry and your dance video.

You don't seem to get that this guy has (at least partially) converted from the dark side to the light.

Here is a list of recent extreme weather events of freezing temperatures during the current global warming hype!

The current climate trend may be scary for many climatologists, because it doesn't seem to cooperate with predicted global warming from greenhouse gases. No exponential warming trend in line with increasing levels of CO2.
Instead, since the start of the new millennium the temperature trend is leveling off.
If this trend is set to continue the global warming bubble scare will eventually burst. This would be a real disaster for future funding and jobs for the many scientists that study the effects of greenhouse gases and global warming.

Brian --

I looked around that website. It's interesting how this guy does not really identify himself, does not present his credentials, does not say who he represents, and above all, does not list anything whatsoever that he has published in any reputable journal. These are all earmarks of the work of a quack. Why don't you present us with some peer-reviewed, reputable data, rather than the ravings of a crackpot?

Why don't you present us with some peer-reviewed, reputable data, rather than the ravings of a crackpot?

Because he can't, apparently. He touts and defends what he believes in, facts be damned. Arguing with him is a waste of time. (There's nothing to win, anyway. Let's say you change Brian's mind on some little thing or another -- do you win a prize? No. You don't. And, then you have to stay with him to make sure that he doesn't revert to his old way of thinking while you continue to try to change the rest of his thinking to suit your beliefs. Do you have that kind of time at your disposal? Do you have time to make that kind of project out of anyone except -- for example -- your children?)

The best thing we can do today is to go out and vote for a likely winner whose thinking would counter Brian's. The best thing we can do every other day of the week is truly live our lives in peaceful but firm opposition to the beliefs of people who believe as Brian does.

Just my unsigned opinion, but there it is.

You didn't search very thoroughly did you. Just like how you don't take time to question these phony assertions of man made global warming.

From the web site:

Hello!
My name is Per Strandberg. I have a Masters Degree in Applied Physics and Electronics from the Linköping University of Technology LiTH, Sweden.

Because of my background I feel the current debate on global warming and climate prediction fascinating.

I therefore started to look at and explore the current available information and data on this subject. I did this to learn more after getting tired from all the one sided media bombardment on climate change news.

Thank you Brian! good start! I don't know where you found that, because I looked all around, but fair enough. Now, what about his publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals? Where on his website can I find a list of those?

say Brian,

I'm still waiting to hear from you about the peer-reviewed publications of your man... you know who I mean... that world-famous authority on global warming.... the one with a Masters Degree in Applied Physics and Electronics from the Linköping University of Technology............................

To change the subject....

He may be calling for fuel-efficient cars but his current business venture isn't any too sustainable.

From Wikipedia:
In August 2007 British charity War on Want published a report accusing Anglo American of profiting from the abuse of people in the developing countries in which the company operates. According to the charity, "in the Philippines and South Africa, local communities threatened with Anglo American mines have faced severe repression in their fight to stay on their land, while in Ghana and Mali, local communities see little of the huge profits being made by AngloGold Ashanti but suffer from fear and intimidation and from the damaging impact of its mines on their environment, health and livelihoods".[3]

Anglo American was also accused in 2007 of damageable environmental practices: in order to complete its planned Alaskan Pebble Mine in collaboration with Northern Dynasty Minerals, the global mining giant may build a massive dam at the headwaters of the world's largest sockeye salmon fishery, which it would risk obliterating.[4] Opponents are also pointing to the use of cyanide, heavy metals, and acid mine drainage which can all have potentially devastating effects on the pristine environment of the Bristol Bay area.

It also looks like they are forcibly removing Columbians from their land:

Hello Brian.....

We are still waiting........

Surely your man with a Masters Degree in Applied Physics and Electronics from the Linköping University of Technology must have an impressive list of publications in the fields of climate science and global warming...

Won't you tell us just a few..... or even just one?

Surely you don't want us all to think that your chosen authority on global warming is just a crackpot..... do you??
