Open Thread: Rainy Ojai Edition
A quick note of clarification and apology to those participating on the Dispatches from Palestine thread, which reached 112 comments. While the discourse wasn't particularly civil towards the end, and one anonymous commenter requested that the thread be closed, I actually was going to close it regardless because the server was really starting to strain under the weight of all those comments. Apologies for not clarifying that better at the end of the thread. Thanks to the reader who pointed out the ambiguity to me - it wasn't meant to stifle the conversation.
This is an open thread, so have it it!

Thanks for being so open about closure. When I have some time, I want to read this record breaking thread.

Damn. I forgot that we're all anonymous now.
The comment above, #1, is from Anonymous Dennis Leary, as I assume #2 will be but I'm not staying around to find out.

testing... user error or otherwise?

Thanks for the clarification, Tyler. Just a couple loose ends to tie up here.
To Anonymous who suggested applying my Antarctica solution to the penal system:
My proposal was designed to put both sides -- Israelis and Palestinians -- all together in neutral territory. It reflects my view that they are mutually responsible for their collective misery. So to transfer it to the penal system kind of misses the whole point.
To El Anon: I thought about your explanation for your capitulation, and it's not too convincing. I must say, you put up a good battle, against long odds, without much support. Nevertheless, previous verdict stands -- spk by TKO.
Well, that's it, folks -- my work's done -- I don't think you'll be hearing from debate monster (i mean, monitor) any more -- over and out.

DM,
Thanks for the vote. However, it never was a debate.

Hi Tyler (or anyone else for that matter):
Can you recall if there are any threads / comments here on the OP about doing vegetable oil conversions on diesel cars? It's something I never really knew about until recently and am interested in learning more.
Does anyone else have any experience in this area?

LTOR:
Check out this 2006 thread at the (languishing-since-May,2007) Ojai Blog: http://www.ojaiblog.com/2006/01/ojai_biodiesel_.html
If Kent Bullard is still around, he's probably worth talking to. If he has no expertise with the actual conversion, he can probably direct you to someone who does.
