A New Year's Ceremony Request
A request from Lisa Sauvageau, Secretary, Akwit-tasen Generations of Life Foundation...
Aho Mitakuye Oyasin from Akwit-tasen, Generations of Life Foundation. "Mitakuye Oyasin" is Lakota for "All My Relations". It is a prayer of oneness and harmony with all forms of life: other people, animals, birds, insects, trees and plants, and even rocks. It reminds us that we are connected to these other aspects of Creation, that we share a common kinship in the Hoop of Life.
Blessings to you, your families and our community for the coming New year and always. We are a local religious non-profit foundation dedicated to sharing Native American sacred life ways. We are a group of people who have been praying together in this way for about 15 years.
Recently it has become very difficult for us to find a site to put up our tipi and conduct our ceremonies. We need a place to conduct our New year's ceremony where about 35 to 40 people can gather to pray in our tipi. We need a location where we can put up our tipi, keep a fire going inside the tipi all night and have our celebratory love feast the next day. We pray, sing and drum during the night so we need to be in an area where that won't bother other people.
We are sending out this post to ask if you have a site that we can use or know of one that we might be able to use. We need to be able to drive to the site, or get very close to it. Everything else we can provide for ourselves.
Thank you very much for your kind consideration.
Lisa Sauvageau

We got our name from Unatka Alcasas. a Chumash man. It means "place of the red-tailed hawk" as he tells it. Are you related to Crow Bear Galindo?
