Holiday Parties and Aged Eggnog

I just got back from the VC Reporter's Christmas Party where I met two of the other ojai post authors (Lisa and Kit) and their spouses. I spent most of my time sitting with Kit and his wife Valerie. Here I had to go to a holiday party in Ventura to meet these folks and sure enough, the ojai post folks gravitated toward eachother!

So I didn't meet tons of people but I had a blast! And it did make me think about this time of year and how many holiday parties are thrown and that these parties often bring together people who probably wouldn't otherwise socialize.

I know Evan and Tyler have talked about some sort of meeting but I'm hoping it happens within the next few months. Might be fun to brainstorm what kind of meeting -- the where and how of it all? It's nice that we recognize one another's thoughts but wouldn't it be fun to also put names to faces?

Happy Holidays!

p.s. I'm also curious, has anyone ever tried aged eggnog? or does anyone have any other unusual holiday specialities they make?

evan and I have talked about organizing a second Cup A Joe gathering for any and all Ojai Post readers, authors, lurkers, commenters and miscellaneous hangers-on. Also, the second anniversary of the Post is in February, and I'm mulling my options... glad you got to meet Lisa and Kit in person - you're one up on me!

wow, second anniversary already!
the Cuppa Joe thing had a moment where it was hot (there was some discussion here that prompted part 2), but then cooled off a bit and i got busy...and nobody else was in a position to step in and pull it together. it was fun and productive the first time around...let's keep it on the back-burner.

i'm still pulling for Coffee Connection as the location (although i could be tempted to scope out Full of Beans if it'll ever open...)

Well I think it'd be fun! Coffee or even farmer and the cook or the Village Jester's outside porch... anywhere really. I would think February might be a cool (pardon the pun) time to do it, esp. with the anniversary!
Let me know and maybe I can help plan it? Maybe we could even come up with a post trivia game for those who read it religiously or is that too corny.
Anywho, thanks for considering :)

"post trivia game"?

best idea i have heard here in a long time...

what FUN!!

YAHOO...!!!

example:

what was the name of the poster who directed everything to the John Birch website?

and for bonus extra points:

what was his phone number?

no peeking...

Was that a Joke? maybe in this case I'm glad to not be terribly savvy about this. Lost...

what was the name of the poster who directed everything to the John Birch website? and for bonus extra points: what was his phone number?

(OK. So I peeked.)

I made aged eggnog for the first time this year and it was the MOST delicious eggnog I have ever tasted. Jump right in and give it a try...you won't regret it!

Jessica, how cool! I wrote about aged eggnog on my blog after researching it here: http://thefoodsavant.blogspot.com/2007/12/eggnog-to-and-fro.html . How long did you age it? do you have a recipe you used that you'd like to share? I'm so excited to get a first-hand account of this!
