Beautiful! Did you take these photos Tyler?

but of course. :)

Good photos. It's nice to see Brian in his bee booth. But I have other things to rant about. If you are having a problem with the vernacular as it is associated with politics or if you can't handle a little rough language, don't read further.

The fight is finally joined. Today the U.S. House of Representatives actually voted to allow the House Judiciary Committee to debate the relative merits of H.R. 333 presented by Rep. Dennis Kucinich. H.R 333 is the resolution to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney for high crimes and misdemeanors. Because of the rubbery or nonexistent spine of the Dem leadership, the Republicans were able to force the resolution onto them much like they've done in the past when they were the majority with their votes in support of the criminal war in Iraq where they go around crowing that a NO vote is a vote against the troops. Well now they've overstepped and The repugs have effectively forced the Dem leadership to go all in. The resolution was voted into the Judiciary Committee where it's final fate will be decided. If the Dem leadership wiggles out of this and keep trying to block this impeachment, they will be totally exposed and it is unlikely that the liberals and the progressives will stick with them. Especially not if their nominee is Hillary Clinton. They're ONLY option is to wheel around on the administration and go at them hammer and tongs. It's now or never, all or nothing. DLC, Rahm Emanuell, centrist-hawkish Dems need to realize their hand has been forced and their backs are against the wall. Judiciary Committee chair John Conyers needs to pass this through the committee with a recommendation that the whole House vote in favor of impeachment. Further, this is not really a matter for right wingers or Republicans to worry over, so no need to comment that you think it's wrong. We already know you think it's wrong--you're a Republican. Your disdain for impeachment is not relevant to this discussion. This is purely a discussion internal to the Democratic Party--the oldest political party on Earth. The party that Thomas Jefferson started. The founders created impeachment as THE ONLY remedy to the types of misconduct and crimes of which Mr. Cheney, and Mr. Bush, are clearly guilty. To sit back and cynically devise that there should be no impeachment because of some idea of political strategy in the future is to do irreparable damage to the Constitution of the United States as well as the Democratic Party itself. Let's go centrist Democrats, do you duty and help restore the preeminence of the Constitution.
Come on, this 'aint no casual blow job.

You go spk!

When we are talking about the kinds of crimes of the Bushies - multiple wars of aggression, the "supreme international crime, responsible for all the evil that follows" (as was put elsewhere)- impeachment is not a matter of expediency, tactics, or strategy. Its a matter of principle. As Americans, as civilized people, we owe it to ourselves and the world to do no less than impeach these criminals, remove them from office, then turn them over for prosecution in the various countries where they have committed their war crimes.

(International arrest warrants for war crimes are already outstanding against Rumsfeld, right?)

May the Golden Rule apply: May what they have done unto others be done unto them.

Go Kucinich! Go Conyers! Get the job done this time.

Tyler you sneek ! I didn't authorize that photo !

P.S.
Thanks for the real whip cream, vanilla and honey recipe !

hey I'm gonna rant about a few things as well:

1. did you see the Apple stock price???
holy moley.
is anyone too dumb to not own 1 share of Apple or
Google??

2. Tom Brady
holy moley
is there anything more beautiful than watching this cool
as a cucumber cat lead his team to a perfect season

3. Tyler- did you photoshop those artichokes?
either that or they were grown on Jupiter

4. did Dennis Kucinich say he saw a UFO while in Ojai?

5. Nancy Grace gave birth to twins.

relevance of any of this to Ojai??

barely

Anyone see Larry Hagman segment on CNBC?
all about solar

Anyone see Subway Restaurant founder on Donny Deutsch the other night?
I didn't.
Did he mention Ojai?

A. El Anonimo: You watch that much TV and you want to come HERE for fluff?!?! :) :) :)

B. Fingers tightly crossed for impeachment proceedings to finally begin. But I admit total ignorance and naivete about this - why in the world would the Democrats in Congress NOT want to do this? Why wasn't this begun ages ago??? What "political strategy" prevails here? The only thing I can think of is that they are afraid of alienating certain groups of people. But who? The voting public? Their colleagues on the Hill? I'd truly appreciate some enlightenment here...

Oh, and I forgot -

C. And Brian, you are so YOUNG. I thought you were much, much older. Next you'll be telling me Ed Nemechek is in his teens... :)

LTOR-

I am an international investor-entrepreneur-financier.

I keep 10 televisions on 365.25/24/7 tuned across the globe via diathermic intertelepathic neosynchronistic mobility waves monitoring for any bit of information that moves financial markets.

whoulda thunk that a segment on larry hagman's solar array right here in ojai would have major financial ripples on the energy markets across the world?

but you are right-
I am kinda fluffy

On your point B, here is one of many articles that give some insight into impeachment strategies:
http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/asection/la-na-impeach7nov07,1,5830792.story?coll=la-news-a_section

LTOR,
I'm so young ? Not really, it must be all the honey I eat ! Also our beeswax cosmetics keep me so young looking!

El Anonimo,
I've see Larry's solar array, very impressive ! I think it is the largest in the state. I set up a beehive for the Hagmans in June right next to one of the arrays, unfortunately we got going too late for the hive to get established in this record drought year. I had a lively debate around the dinner table with Larry's Bio Fuel agent about nuclear power !

Brian-
Larry did make a passing mention of the Bees if I remember correctly.
He looked at them quite lovingly.

Cheers, El Anonimo!

And Brian, I'll look into your cosmetics. I need all the help I can get, LOL!

I've see Larry's solar array, very impressive ! I think it is the largest in the state

OK. I'm confused. Is Brian Cox also Brian, who apparently hates even the notion of anyone touting solar power? This can't be, can it?

phalarope,
One in the same, but I don't hate solar power, if you can afford it go for it !

Ah. Well. I learn something every day.

Peace.

spk, your report on and analysis of the impeachment situation and goings-on in the House yesterday seem spot-on to me - including your "rough language"!

i watched the whole thing go down live, and i was ASTONISHED at the number of Democrats voting to table (kill) H.Res. 333...i was AGAIN astonished at the last-minute vote-switching by the Republicans to keep it alive so they could push it into committee. at the end of that vote, more Republicans voted against tabling than did Democrats...incredible, disgusting, confusing.

So HRes333 is in the Judiciary Committee. the bad news is that Committee Chair John Conyers (D-MI) is not interested in impeachment...but since we're not his constituents, i fear our voice would not matter to him anyway. HOWEVER, Rep. Elton Gallegly is on the Judiciary Committee, and we ARE his constituents! (it could easily be argued that our voices don't matter to him either, but let's assume that this is a working democracy).

So locally we're not without action on this one. we can still be contacting Elton and letting him know that we want him to support the Constitution and the will of the American people by impeaching Vice President Cheney.

With these people cynically following political strategy rather than upholding their oath to the Constitution, I fear for the Democratic party.

Elton Gallegly voted NOT to table the Resolution, but as i said before it was part of a move by House Republicans to keep it alive long enough to force the Democrats - most of whom don't want to impeach - to talk about it, and then bury it in Committee.

here is info from democrats.com:
We must demand Judiciary Committee hearings for H.Res. 333 starting immediately after Thanksgiving.

How do we mobilize around this demand?

1. Call the House Judiciary Committee at 202-225-3951 and demand hearings on H.Res. 333.

2. Email all of the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee.

3. If you live in the district of a House Judiciary Committee member, call their office and tell them you're a constituent and you want immediate hearings on H.Res. 333. Then join your Congressional District Impeachment Committee and organize a HonkToImpeach rally in front of your Representative's district office. Then keep up the pressure on your Representative every way you can, including letters to the editor, calls to local talk shows, and pointed questions at every community forum attended by your Representative.

4. A media campaign including op-ed articles on impeaching Cheney, letters-to-the-editor about the Kucinich resolution, and informational picketing in front of the offices of local media, particularly in Detroit for Conyers and NY City for Nadler.

i will add:
TONIGHT: NOVEMBER 7: CITIZENS FOR IMPEACHMENT MEETING
The mission of Citizens for Impeachment, Ventura County is to uphold the United States Constitution and the rule of law threatened by the current Administration; to educate the public about the necessity of impeaching President Bush and V. P. Cheney and what is at stake if the dangerous precedents they have set are allowed to stand; and ultimately to see that they and other members of their administration are held accountable in a court of law for high crimes and misdemeanors against the American people. To meet in these goals and in this spirit, gather at 295 Arcade Dr, Ventura (ARC Community Connections West) at 6:30pm. (Exit Seaward inland to Thompson, turn R. on Thompson, R. on Arcade, R behind Jack in the Box, parking lot in back)

If a Christian nation cannot impeach the Devil, what are we coming to?

Is it humanity's fate to sit passively and be ruled by the Devil until the Redeemer makes his Second Coming?

Can we not take matters into our own hands and at least impeach the horrible Beast, for crying out loud?

Did not God give us the power of impeachment for just this purpose?

Even Devil's-henchman Gallegly appears to have supported use of the God-given right of impeachment to get the Devil himself out of office...

Is it just that the Democratic believers do not want to rob Christ of his ultimate victory by letting human agency get in the way?

If so: How long until the Second Coming? Because we can't take much more of this.

Just a note, the resolution has been changed to H. Res. 799.

Some things you can do:

Here's the Capitol main switchboard number: 202-225-3121, they'll direct you to any Representative or Senator

You can call Gallegly because he sits on the Judiciary Committee and ask that he push for hearings in the committee on H. Res. 799. It's unlikely he will do anything at all, as is his normal procedure, but at least you can call. When I called his DC office the woman who answered actually snickered and when I called the local office the woman literally had no idea what I was talking about, par for the course.

You can call the Chairman, Rep. John Conyers, and ask the same thing. When I called, the guy who answered at his DC office was really annoyed and nearly hung up on me. They're getting many thousands of calls, emails and soon letters.

Also, call the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi and ask that she change her, and the Dem leadership, position on impeachment. When I called the DC office the woman was very nice.

Finally, Email Dennis Kucinich with your support for the impeachment of Dick Cheney. He's going to compile all the emails, print them and deliver them to the Dem Leadership and to Rep. John Conyers. Here's his email:

impeachment@kucinich.us

My prediction is that the Dem Leadership will fail to see this for the massive grassroots movement it is and will continue to allow the resolution to sit in committee like it has since Kucinich first introduced it in April. As I write this, the supposedly liberal CNN is covering stories about Dog the bounty hunter, a man who lost 87 lbs., and some kind of story about the crash of Princess Diana. How much longer is this intentional, enforced vapidity in the mainstream media to be tolerated? A resolution to impeach the sitting Vice President has been kept alive in the House and it hasn't had been more that two or three background mentions. The story from Fox(faux) News actually tried to spin it as a win for Republicans. It may turn out to be just that if the centrist, DLC, hawkish, Rahm Emanuel type Democrats continue to fail to see the forest for the trees. They are too timid to actually take a leadership role and get us out of this war. They are too afraid to act decisively in favor of the Constitution and the people. They prefer to pursue a slinking, under the radar political strategy that allows them to hide from "controversy" and jeers from the pet "liberal" media. We need to let them know that it's okay to do their duty and that the vast majority of the party specifically, and of Americans in general, are in favor of impeachment. Only after this Administration has been held to the rule of law can we begin to repair the unbelievable damage that they have done to the Constitution. Bush/Cheney's time is over and now it is time for the people too stand up and correct the aberration that is the Bush administration. It's still early in the Twenty-First Century, we need to take a Mulligan and tee up again to address the serious issues that face this country and the entire world.
