The Reason for nuclear energy is to provide cheap energy for the people of America and the world so we can live more abundantly and progress to higher levels of progress through energy consumption (not energy conservation which is retrogressive). Climate change is a moot point since there is nothing we can do about the sun or the unalterable cycles of geologic time. We should reinstate the industrial and technological revolution of yesteryear and go on to unlimited levels of progress instead of pussy-footing around trying to 'save' energy everywhere. Energy USE = progress! See: www.JBS.org (search: nuclear power). -Ed Nemechek-760-246-8059.

I can't wait to hear the anti nuke religious fanatics give us there answer to global warming and clean energy solutions.
The truth is they don't have any.

Brian: The truth is you do not have the ability to learn or grow. You suffer from dementia. You have never had the stregth to recognize that every one of your talking points are state sponsored digital garbage. You are the fanatic and give it a way by calling all who disagree with you a fanatic. You are projecting your worst self fears on others to protect a damaged and fragile self image.
fanatic [fəˈnӕtik] noun.:a person motivated by irrational enthusiasm (as for a cause);
"A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject"--Winston Churchill
"Brian is fanatical about nuclear power."--Spaz Zapper

Anybody want to donate to the Let's Send Brian to Chernobyl fund? Ed can fly him there in his DC-10.
Two birds, and all that.

Hey, speaking of energy...
we're having a wide power outage here in Meiners Oaks this evening, all the way into downtown Ojai.
anybody know anything about?

Some vintage Ed Nemecheck, from books.dreambook.com:

For Publication: As letter to editor: (Suggested Title: ’Pinochet - Hero of our Hemisphere‘) --
Dear Editor: We should congratulate and thank the people of Chile for giving us the greatest hero of the Western Hemisphere during the latter part of the 20th century in the form of General Augusto Pinochet who saved Chile in 1973 by ousting marxist dictator Salvador Allende in the most brilliant military preservation of a nations constitution and freedom in our time during a period of unprecedented communist turmoil and brutality in Chile. Had General Pinochet not acted when he did to save Chile, the people of Chile today would be languishing in a vast prison state and never again would be heard the muse. It greatly saddens me to see news of the attacks now being heaped on this great warrior and savior of Chile, and benefactor of our hemisphere, by Chilean officials who apparently have no integrity, souls, or morality. It’s obvious that the Communists, the Marxist Left, and the one world internationalists hate Pinochet not only because he led one of the few counter-revolutions that succeeded in ousting a Communist regime, but also because he is a Christian patriot who stands for everything they oppose. We and the people of Chile should revere and protect General Pinochet as the great hero of our time and hemisphere, and consign his adversaries to the dust bin of history where they can revel in their dimly lit rooms and demented lost dreams of us as slaves in their socialist gulags, and them stepping on a human face forever. We should see: www.thenewamerican.com (search: pinochet)-or www.jbs.org and send communications of protest to Chilean leaders and media, and our own leaders and media immediately, and demand they protect our hemisphere by defending Pinochet and propagating his legacy NOW and forever! Sincerely, Ed Nemechek, Adelanto, California, U.S.A. (760)-246-8059. (ednemechek@ciso.com)

If the "Union of Concerned Scientists" are so concerned why are they sending a lawyer to talk on this subject.
Comment #8 Posted by: Brian | September 2, 2007 07:37 AM
Brian, why don't you come to the meeting and find out?

evan - you have the patience of Gandhi.

Find out what?
Comment #11 Posted by: Brian | September 2, 2007 01:40 PM
Brian, i suspect that you enjoy asking rhetorical questions, such as why are they sending a lawyer to talk on this subject, with no intention of ever finding out the answers. you seem content to whine and moan from behind your keyboard without going out into the world, testing out your convictions, challenging others. i'm sure you have plenty of strongly-held opinions about the meeting you didnt attend, with plenty of decisive judgments to pass on the speaker whom you didnt hear.
i guess i'm just frustrated about that.
Comment #12 Posted by: evan | September 2, 2007 10:38 PM
Brian has grown accustomed to a self image of being smarter than everyone else. The downside of his delusion is feeling of isolated and alone for long periods of time. He has become addicted to the neural state of self pity and self righteousness. He reaches out without knowing why. When he gets the attention he needs he gorges it down but then vomits it up before any significant digestion can occur. He is an intellectual bulimic nuclear fantatic. Do not get between him and his addictions. Like a pit bull, he will not release his grip - even if the bone is radioactive.

I actually made it to the anti-nuke meeting but the guy was late! (how rude !) I hung around and listened to the first speaker for a while, was not my issue, so I went to plan B which was surfing down at C street. By the time I got out of the water the guy had finished up, I had a dinner engagement at 5:00 so I had to book. It was interesting checking out the demographics of the attendees however !
Comment #14 Posted by: Brian | September 3, 2007 08:36 PM
And just what was your interpretation of the demographics, Brian?
Comment #15 Posted by: Coleen Ashly | September 3, 2007 10:43 PM
yes Brian, please share your interpretation of the demographics. for clarity, "the guy" (his name is Jon Block) had just flown into Burbank and then drove up to Ventura in Labor-Day-weekend traffic. we were very grateful that he'd make such an effort. i really wish you'd been there at the end to ask some questions...we needed a dissenting voice.
Comment #16 Posted by: evan | September 4, 2007 12:11 PM
Yes, when everybody is in agreement you know something must be wrong. You could have played devils advacate and brought up some of my points! Can you give a snyopsis of what was presented?
Comment #17 Posted by: Brian | September 4, 2007 12:28 PM
OR, when everyone is in agreement, it means that nobody who disagrees had the patience or courage to stick around.
haha, i actually did consider playing Brian's advocate, but i was videotaping and didnt want to ask a loud question into the camcorder's ear. i'm trying to post the video to let Jon speak for himself, but if i can't get that going i'll start a new thread with the synopsis. it's a valid and important discussion to have, i think.

Phalarope...You are a god. Nice research, but it must have been some other Ed lionizing Pinochet, as there is no mention of DC10s.

Nothing godlike about me, to be sure. I just typed Ed's name into Google, and that piece about Pinochet was one of the hits. I'm pretty sure it is "our" Ed, because the phone number Ed gives is an Adelanto, CA. number, and the writer of that comment identifies himself as being from Adelanto.
