On flyer:
Noble = Nobel?

nope, Noble = Noble

i couldn't very well give out an actual NobEL prize, could i?

it's spelled Nobel in the "Schedule of Events"
That's why I was confused

agreed...thank you for looking, and for reporting! i'm in ongoing communication to get it fixed.

Beautiful cover, Evan. Your links and the whole idea of peace is inspiring and uplifting. I'll be happy to help set up and take down. I don't feel too peacefully positive right now so I don't think I'd make a good greeter and public relations type. Keep up the good work. Peace to you and your family, and to our planet family of beings.

GET US out of the United Nations!(see: www.getusout.org)-and restore Americas' independence and true peace. Every war we've been suckered into since 1941 has been a U.N. war killing our children. Withdrawal from the pagan U.N. means peace for our country.-Ed Nemechek-760-246-8059.

Oh my goodness, Ed, now I know I have to worry about you. "Every war we've been suckered into since 1941 has been a U.N. war killing our children". Is Iraq a U.N. war? The United Nations could be an amazing organization, if only we'd let it!

Hey, evan, what a beautiful poster! Who made it, you?

What an exciting line-up of peace activities. Thanks to you and all who worked to make this celebration possible.

Yes Coleen, every war we've been in since 1941 has been fought under U.N. guidelines because of our membership which is a main reason we lose consistantly and are losing now. The most glaring example was the Korean war where our soldiers were buried under U.N. flag ceremonies and General MacArthur was required to report his strategy to a top U.N. official who was an official Communist Party member. MacArthur remarked that the North Korean enemy seemed to know his strategy in advance. This is no way to win a war then or now obviously. We must fight our wars constitutionly declared as an independent America instead of just another member of the U.N. gang of socialist dead beat governments who hate us (of course they smile when they want more of our money). The United Nations is an amazing organization, amazingly evil and brutal in its' crimes against humanity- see:www.JBS.org search:katanga- for the horrible account of the United Nations military in action in that poor country and other further reading. The latest U.N. effort is to confiscate the privately owned guns of all member nations (THAT MEANS US) and restrict all vitamins and supplements under their CODEX Alimentarius plan for control of world nutrition which will destroy the health supplement industry and ours and world health in general. Search www.JBS.org for more info.. - -Ed Nemechek-760-246-8059.

Coleen, i did not make the poster...that credit goes to Gail Motyka of Meditation Mount.

Ed said:
This [belonging to an international organization] is no way to win a war then or now obviously. We must fight our wars constitutionly [sic] declared as an independent America...

hurray! there's no way to win a war! it's working! since we can't win them (what with all this fuzzy-wuzzy international stuff and talk of interdependence), perhaps we shouldn't start them in the first place!

Evan: HOW RIGHT YOU ARE! If we demanded wars be declaired by Congress as the constitution DEMANDS we probably wouldn't have any wars. Our military should be returned home to defend OUR BORDERS instead of Iraqs'and the borders of many other countries as is now the case. The best way to start is to get out of the U.N. (see:www.getusout.org) and rebuild Fortress America, as it used to be called, and secure our homeland. This country was built by people who came here to get away from foreign oppression, not wallow in it as we are now doing in the name of "world Peace", etc.. We must bring true peace through strength and security by protecting our own shores here at home.-Ed Nemechek.-760-246-8059.

peace isnt free. enlist in the armed forces before you attend this pointless event.

This war is not a war against terror, it is a war against peace. Viet Nam ended because the American soldiers refused to kill, the oligarchy faced a complete mutiny among their armed forces and was forced to withdrawl the courageous troops. War will end when no one will kill innocent human beings.

are you enlisted, evan the great?

can you please compare for us the costs of peace versus the costs of war?

can you elaborate on your characterization of this event as "pointless"?

peace isnt free. enlist in the armed forces before you attend this pointless event.

How about you? Did you ever serve? Care to give some details?

Some interesting comments about war:- 'War is the only way civilized people can be made to kill each other'- 'WW-II was the great war for the re-distribution of the world' for the increased power and profits of the big money boys (as have been all our illegal wars since)i.e. Halliburton Oil, etc., getting no-bid contracts in the Mid-East war. We have to quit being suckered into allowing our children to be used as cannon fodder in illegal undeclaired U.N. supervised no-win foreign wars that our founding leaders warned to absolutly avoid. Political (not economic) isolationism is not a four letter word, it is the answer. We must get out of the U.N., and contacting our Congressmen to support Congressman Ron Pauls' bill H.R.-1146 to withdraw from the United Nations is a good way to start.-Ed Nemechek.

Isn't US invasion of Iraq in complete defiance of the UN?

right you are, Zapper! (although i believe Ed's point would be that the U.N. pretends to shun war but secretly promotes and supports it)

at any rate, the Ojai City Council tonight issued a proclamation recognizing and honoring September 21st as the International Day of Peace and in support of these actions and events in celebration of it.

September 11 seems to forever be a date when you hear things on the radio that you believe must be a spoof, only to find out they are too, too terribly true. Tonight, supposedly taped from the Senate chambers today (paraphrased):

Senator: "General, betray us: When will troops begin to draw down?"

General: "We have no timetable. As you can see from my charts, we have a ladder with steps down. I can't say when those steps will happen."

Senator 2: "General, betray us: As this war approaches a trillion dollars in cost, do you see any end in sight?"

General: "The cost of leaving now would be infinitely higher than staying."

Senator 3: "General, betray us: Are we making any progress?"

General: "Oh, absolutely. Casualties in Anbar province are down. We should be able to reduce to the number of troops we had last year maybe by sometime next year."

Etc.

Did I hear right? "Betray us?" He sure did, and is, whoever he was, and is.

Spaz Zapper: We have never defied the U.N.. Any appearance as such is a pretence to fool the public. President George H.W. Bush asked the U.N. for PERMISSION to invade Kuwait before the first Gulf war. This is an outrage because it is OUR CONGRESS that a declaration of war should constitutionally be presented to, not an international body of deadbeat socialist countries that hate us. George Washington must have turned over in his grave when that happened. This is the result of our U.N. membership which we obviously must terminate if we are to preserve our country from destruction through foreign wars. We must remember also that, since WW-II our leaders, as front men for the big -money interests, have planned our wars to insure our defeat so as to submerge us in their 'New World Order' world government that President George H.W. Bush openly promoted to the detriment of our national independence. George W. Bush is obviously going down the same road. -Ed Nemechek-see:www.getusout.org for more info.

Ed, as a member of the United Nations, it is my understanding that international laws and treaties such as the U.N. creates become part of our national constitution per our Constitution.

watch this, please.

the U.N. only allows the use of force in two situations: self defense, and authorization by the U.N. Security Council. since the United States is one of the five permanent members of said council, and we didn't get authorization for use of force from it, then we certainly defied them by starting a war anyway!

Evan Austin: See:www.getusout.org (search: katanga) to see how the United Nations imposes war on helpless people who are anti-communist and economically progressive.-Ed Nemechek - 760-246-8059.

...not an international body of deadbeat socialist countries that hate us.

How do you expect anyone to take what you are saying seriously with statements like that Ed? I am starting to suspect you are purposely spreading disinformation; you know what they say, 'a rotten apple spoils the bunch.'

Prejudice: unreasonable feelings, opinions, or attitudes, esp. of a hostile nature, regarding a racial, religious, or national group.

When we fear our own motality, it makes us more nationalistic, prejudiced and narrowminded. Why are you so afraid Ed? Do you ever release? Do you ever relax? You'll find a different reality when you do. Until then, everything you experience is tainted by your distorted perspective. I suspect the paranoia and self loathing that you are projecting will begin to dissipate when you learn to relax once in a while. Good luck.

to reconnect to the original point:
the purpose of the Living Peace in Ojai event is to come together and celebrate our oneness, to explore and exemplify how we can activate and express Living Peace in ourselves and in our beautiful community every day, to help heal our fragile world.

This purpose is independent of the existence of the United Nations. with or without that organization, we must, to paraphrase MLK, learn to live together as brothers and sisters, or perish together as fools.

AND, the International Day of Peace was not an organizational creation of the U.N...if you'll come and see the film on Friday night, you'll learn that it was a campaign started by Jeremy Gilley of London, to persuade the global community via the United Nations to sanction officially a day without conflict; a ceasefire day; a global day of Peace.

it was top-down...grassroots...organic...by the Citizens. Just like Peace will be.

We should remember the classic Communist definition of 'peace': .."that condition whereby there is no opposition to communism". This is what the U.N. means by "peace" and we shouldn't fall for it. We are not 'one with the world' and its' deadbeat socialist nations, we are one with our country and must preserve it for us and our children as the heirs of all the ages to our great Republic. If enough Americans fail to understand this, God help us, as we will inherit hell on earth upon the destruction of our country at the hands of international cabals totally alien to our American way and heritage , as is now happening. -Think again.-Ed Nemechek.

Ed, in classic form you seem not to have read or digested anything that i or others have said, and are still completely hung up on the United Nations fraction of this whole equation. i am looking into the website you posted earlier, although i am still disposed to Coleen's urging that "The United Nations could be an amazing organization, if only we'd let it!" also, please do not speak for me.

YOU are the one still afraid of Communism.
YOU are one only with your own country, to the exclusion of all others.
YOU preach "hell on earth" and "destruction of our country" based on your observations and suppositions.

please don't state those things as fact as though you are a prophet, and please don't tell me what i am or what Peace means to me.

but hey, let's talk about something positive:
what can you do or are you doing to promote Peace inside the United States? what DOES Peace mean to you?

Hell will freeze over before Ed actually engages you in a real conversation. Ed is about as much of a debater as Brian Cox. Maybe they're both just sock puppets belonging to the same person.

evan austin: I try to promote peace by promoting a strong and free America by upholding constitutional principles and preventing, or withdrawing, from foreign entanglements in general as they compromise our independence and security. I think the old saying 'That government that governs least governs best' says volumes that people are missing today in their clamor for more government money for everything. President Calvin Coolidge exemplified the solution when he was asked what his greatest accomplishment was as president, and he replied "I minded my own business". I would contrast this with our presidents today running all over the world literally stirring up hatred for our country where ever they go. It is said that the economy flourished during his tenure as president because of non-interference by government. What I'm getting at here is peace for America can only be rebuilt by minding our own business, reducing the size of our government, and through political isolationism (unfortunatly a pavlovian trigger word for some people), and keeping our military at home to protect our own borders, (see:www.JBS.org (search: secure borders) and rebuild Fortress America as it was before we were suckered into the internationalism and war mentality of WW-I & WW-II that has infected our national thinking ever since. WW-II was started by President Roosevelts' facilitating of the attack on Pearl Harbor (read:'Day of Deceit' by Robert Stinnett, showing how Roosevelt did it- it's probably in your library system), that is eerily similar to the 911 attack stampeding us into another war for the big money boys. Peace will come to America when we learn to mind our own business, secure our borders, and return to the political isolationism of Charles Lindbergh and many leaders of his time. It's only common sense.-Ed Nemechek-760-246-8059.

Meanwhile, Hell is still hot as hell.

evan: Regarding U.N. laws and treaties becoming part of our Constitution, I would have to disagree as our Constitution can only be changed through the amendment process. Treaties or laws of international organizations are valid in so far as they do not violate our Constitution. If they violate our Constitution, they are invalid even though they have been ratified by our Congress, because our congressmen and senators have sworn an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution in the first place. Our war making powers are vested in Congress and not in the U.N. or our president, which makes all our wars since WW-II ILLEGAL which is a national disgrace which we must correct. Regarding Bushs' defying the U.N. by going to war, as I recall part of his justification was that by going to war he was doing what the U.N. should be doing anyway, which I feel is a lame excuse for an illegal war to kill more of our children. What you have stated in your posting are, I feel, certainly more reasons to support H.R.-1146 by Congressman Ron Paul to withdraw from the United Nations,- and also support Ron Paul for President. To see how vicious the U.N. military is see:www.JBS.org (search: katanga). -Ed Nemechek-760-246-8059.

Phalarope(Wilson's, Red, or Red-necked variety I wonder),

Brian is a good guy, he's just a little misled on nuclear power. At least he's a local from here in Ojai. Ed, on the other hand, is a simi-cracked blowhard from Landers, CA.

ah, but you didnt watch the video, my friend!

at 2:30:
President Harry S. Truman:
"The Charter of the United Nations, which you are now signing, is a solid structure upon which we can build for a better world. History will honor you for it. Between the victory in Europe and the final victory in Japan, in this most destructive of all wars, you have won a victory against war itself! If we had had this Charter a few years ago, and above all, the will to use it, millions now dead would be alive. If we should falter in the future in our will to use it, millions now living will surely die. You have created a great instrument for Peace and security and human progress in the world. The world must now use it!" (emphasis mine)

The United States was one of the first signers of the Charter.
Article VI of the United States Constitution:
"This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding." (emphasis mine)
